I’m looking out the window and there isn’t a snowflake in sight! No White Christmas here.

It’s a grey sky, and a typical December morning – cool, no wind, uninspiring.

And yet all across the land, families are gathered together, presents unwrapped, turkeys prepared for the feast to come!

My kids are too old to believe in Santa Claus – though we kept that one going with them almost until their teenage years. My daughter is kinda sad that there is no kindly Father Christmas – I used to convince her that she could make him out flying across the sky on Christmas Eve. Lost innocence.

I hope YOU have all got whatever it was you were looking for this Christmas. (I got a back massager chair. ideal for my achy breaky middle-aged joints!)

I’ll be visiting my father who is still in hospital later on then returning to play some daft games at home!

I’ll blog a few stories later so pop by – see you then!

A truly Happy Christmas to you all!

christmas star.jpegMay you only receive what is kind, and good, and well-meant and -wished on this, the best day of the year for all Families, of whatever size, or composition, or character!

May your dreams be only of good times, of happiness, of laughter and of light! May the music of joy ring throughout your homes and hearts at this commemoration of the birthday of He who many believe to be the truly Risen Lord; and if your beliefs lead you elsewhere, may your path be given the solace that you seek!

If your thoughts extend that far, spend a moment with the many who do not have the luxury of a quiet mind; and lend them your prayers, so that they may understand the peace which pervades the very air around those lucky enough to be blessed with the richness of happiness and love of a family who are together at this, the very best day of the year!

Christmas Eve.  A magical time for kids and a wonderful time for those of us who celebrate the birth of Christ.

This is a wonderful Christmas hymn – written by Charles Wesley, with a melody borrowed from the melodious Mendelssohn. My favourite lines are towards the end and they send a tingle down the spine when sung by a choir as we think of why we have this holiday …

"Born to raise the sons of earth
Born to give them second birth
Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King"

religion of peace

There are so many churches here and so many nativity scenes but i thought this one looked so pretty and peaceful. There were two in just this one church. Life is winding down here. And so am I! Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas….

Yes, we all know that Islam is the religion of peace. And love. So that must be why the fundamentalists in Mogadishu’s Union of Islamic Courts have issued a global call to arms to "foreign fighters" for their campaign against Ethiopia, whose troops are in Somalia to prop up the powerless interim government based at Baidoa, north-west of the capital.

"Our country is open to Muslims worldwide," Yusuf Mohammed Siad "Inda’ade", the Courts’ defence chief, said yesterday. "Let them fight in Somalia and wage jihad, and God willing, attack Addis Ababa."

It appears that this siren call from the Islamists is having a good pick up rate and I dare say some of our very own home grown British Islamists will answer the call and make their way to the region – to kill for Allah. Across the globe, Islam is on the offensive. It’s the new totalitarianism – but seemingly more effective since it is wrapped up in the comfort blanket of alleged religion.

At least the Somalis realise they are under attack by the Islamists – most of the West still lives in denial.

The "cease-fire" between Israel and the Palestinian hordes is doing REAL well.

The 50th and 51st Qassam rockets since the ceasefire began exploded on Israeli soil Sunday morning. The attack woke up terrorized residents of the southern Israeli town Sderot as alert sirens were raised.

Despite the continuing attacks on Israeli civilian populations, gutless liberal Prime Minister Osloid Olmert held talks with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in which he pledged to release $100 million in tax returns to the Palestinians and ease travel restrictions from terrorist-riddled Judea and Samaria (West Bank).

Memo to Olmert – you can’t BUY OFF Terrorism.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Williams has nothing to say about these murderous attacks on the Joooos.

The MSM remains mute on the subject as well.

bonovertigoPA.jpgDid you see that U2 lead singer and egomaniac Bono has received an honorary knighthood in the New Year’s Honours list? Sir Bono?

I’m OUTRAGED!

I demand that he be made into a SAINT by the Pope, and right away.

As far as I am concerned, he has already performed several documented miracles which qualify him for the status of living Sainthood. For example he has done a miraculous job convincing millions that the turgid dross U2 churn out is worth listening to. He has also saved the world from poverty several times, not least at Live 8, and it is clear that he’s going to reverse global warming. The man is a Saint – and I am hoping he will get his due reward, a knighthood being but the start.

And a raspberry to a very common one!

Listened on the radio to the smarmy tones of Bob Crow, the RMT union organiser, who was instrumental in the strike which hit Central Trains today, possibly the busiest of the year. All services operated by Central were brought to a grinding halt by the actions of this hard-liner. In a previous interview, Crow was quoted as saying "We hope that the company will now acknowledge our members’ frustration by starting to take their grievances seriously." In other words, if you won’t give in to our demands, the paying customers who depend on your services will be let to either drive, walk or ride a bloody horse!

Welcome to the brave new world of NewLabour, their life-long buddies in the Unions, Respect, and the ‘Statist’ thinking which has always surrounded this snivelling band of rogues, thieves and lying vagabonds!

Fanfare to the (very)uncommon man!

On this Christmas Eve morning, I’d like to pay my own small tribute to an American hero, a man who lived for his wife and family, and who died trying to get help for those same family members; stranded in deep snow in the Oregon mountain wildernesses.
James Kim was a true ‘techie’, ‘au fait’ with every advance and nuance of electronic and computer technology, working as a reviewer and researcher with CNet, an Online computer magazine. He was a devoted father to two daughters, and the loving husband of Kati.
He was travelling over a mountain path in Oregon in a S.U.V., but got stuck in deep snow; and after five days without any sign of help decided to strike out to search for help, but perished in the snow himself, after struggling for sixteen miles yet ending up a mile away from his family.
He might have been rescued if a hotel had allowed his credit card records to be accessed, or if a telecoms engineer had been listened to, but these, like many other things, are all ‘might have been’s’.

James Kim died in pursuit of help for his Family, and the world is a poorer place for his passing!

nuclearsign203afp.jpgI see that the Mad Mullah’s have responded to the UN Security Council imposing sanctions on Iran by accelerating their plans to get weapons-grade uranium! This clear defiance of the UN shows the contempt in which the Mullah’s view the toothless UN tiger. But hey – with Iran being NOW viewed by the likes of the Fabulous Baker Boys as a force for "stability" – there’s nothing to worry about. Right? Unless you are a Jew…
