Whilst those high minded folks at the United Nations (the “world’s highest moral authority” if you are a lefty) discuss the need for an army to “fight” climate change, here comes a little news which seems to have gone under Radar…

“North Korea and Iran are jointly working on weapons programmes designed to build a long-range missile capable of carrying a nuclear warhead, a leading British security think tank has said. Pyongyang also possesses technology that would enable Iran’s uranium enrichment programme to increase its output. However concrete evidence that North Korea has supplied the Iranians with its superior equipment has not been uncovered by IISS. The disclosure marks a disturbing escalation in the race for nuclear weapons technology by the two states which are seen to present the biggest threat to global security.

Meanwhile, back in Narnia on the East river, let’s get down to the serious business of the Green Helmets…..

ONE could easily be lulled into forgetting that a Briton is free to protest always in his own land. Certainly we’re intimidated into not protesting now, not when the Police rebrand thousands of perfectly lawful protestors as “domestic extremists” and go to such great lengths that the likes of comedian Mark Thomas find themselves on something like this:

There he is, Suspect H, on a list of thousands the state thinks are not to be trusted, even though he’s committed no crime nor likely has come close to doing so.

It’s a list which is held and administered by the Association of Chief Police Officers, a private limited company with no lawful or defined police powers. In marrying the state and private interests against our liberties, you don’t get much more fascistic than that.

I sincerely hope to find myself on the list. What an honour to be dubbed a “domestic extremist” by these totalitarian scum.

Obama, The Smart One?

Wasn’t President Obama billed as “The Smart One”?

Not smart, it seems. Only last week, in a WSJ article titled, Get Ready for Another North Korean Nuke Test, John Bolton warned of North Korea’s ambitions:

The curtain is about to rise again on the long-running nuclear tragicomedy, “North Korea Outwits the United States.” Despite Kim Jong Il’s explicit threats of another nuclear test, U.S. Special Envoy Stephen Bosworth said last week that the Obama administration is “relatively relaxed” and that “there is not a sense of crisis.”

Wake up, President Obama, before it’s too late.

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) – North Korea claimed it carried out a powerful underground nuclear test Monday – much larger than one conducted in 2006 – in a major provocation in the escalating international standoff over its rogue nuclear and missile programs.

the Guardian: Despite promising a fresh start to bilateral relations, Obama, who denounced last month’s missile launch as “a provocation,” has so far failed to persuade North Korean to enter into negotiations.

Dear President Obama:

I’m sure you read the story the other day about the New York Philharmonic orchestra travelling to North Korea and playing for the hand-picked members of the audience of  that monstrous regime. I profoundly disagreed with this visit as it only conveys bogus credibility on this regime, though there was no shortage of apologists saying how enlightened the Philharmonic was being, how it could help the advance of dialogue in this communist hell-hole. Conductor Lorin Maazel brushed of all criticism of this venture, proclaiming that this visit would bring people closer together

.It’s worked.  Sort of.

North Korea has executed 22 fishermen who strayed out of the country’s waters by mistake, it was claimed yesterday. The group were apparently gunned down once they returned to the Stalinist state. It was another alleged incident supporting claims that North Korea has a "no tolerance" policy against anyone suspected of trying to leave the country – even in error.
