Well, not for the first time I find myself in full agreement with Norman Podhoretz, an adviser to the Giuliani camp, when he advocates over on the Daily Telegraph that…

"None of the alternatives to military action – negotiations, sanctions, provoking an internal insurrection – can possibly work," They’re all ways of evading the terrible choice we have to make which is to either let them get the bomb or to bomb them.People I’ve talked to have no doubt we could set it back five or 10 years. There are those who believe we can get the underground facilities as well with these highly sophisticated bunker-busting munitions."

That’s why we need the MOP. Have you heard of this? It’s a newly developed 30,000-pound bomb called the massive ordnance penetrator, or, in military-speak, the MOP. The MOP is the the military’s largest conventional bomb, a super “bunker-buster” capable of destroying hardened targets deep underground. I think a few well-directed MOPS should clean up the Iranian problem, don’t you? We either stop Iran or let it gain the nuclear bomb and then quiver in fear. Anyone with any sense knows that "dipomacy" will go nowhere and that Iran will announce sooner rather than later that it has joined the nuclear family and then there is the business of finishing off what Hitler started. So, time to MOP out the Iranian nuclear capability.

Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel

By ATWadmin On October 26th, 2007 at 3:05 pm

Interesting post from Azamehrs blog (For a secular democratic Iran).

Putin in Persian means the boot, and ‘150 Years under Putin’ is the title of an article by Iranian satirist, Ebrahim Nabavi, meaning 150 years under the boot – with obvious reference to Putin’s visit to Tehran.  In it, Nabavi re-examines how his generation were always encouraged to shout ‘Death to America, Death to England and Death to Israel’. The gist (not a word by word translation) of Nabavi’s article is this:

– Iran lost a great part of its territory to the Russians after years of war between the incompetent Qajar kings and the powerful Tsarist Russian armies.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

– During Iran’s constitutional revolution that demanded to put a limit on the king’s powers and establish an elected parliament, the constitutionalists seeked refuge in the British embassy. The Russians on the other hand, allied with the new despot Qajar king, bombed the newly built parliament building while the deputies were inside. Further support for the despot king meant Russian troops pouring into Iran and killing thousands of Iranian freedom fighters.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

– Reza Shah, the ‘bloodthirsty dictator’ – as Iranian Communists refer to him – founder of the new Pahlavi dynasty, arrested 53 Communists in total during his 16 year reign. One of them, Dr. Taghi Arani, was killed in prison but the other 52 went to Russia and there they were either killed or exiled or lived in misery and poverty for the rest of their lives and yearned to return to Iran.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

– During the Second World War, Iran was occupied by allies and was used as a bridge to send aid to Stalin. When the war ended, Americans and the British left as was agreed, but the Russians stayed and wanted to secede Azerbijan from the rest of Iran this time.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

– Mossadiq was appointed by the 2nd Pahlavi king, as the Prime Minister, and he led the drive for nationalisation of Iranian oil. Because Mossadiq was anti-Soviet, the Russians labeled him as an English lackey, and when it was too obvious that Mossadiq was not an English lackey they labelled him as an American lackey. The Soviet backed puppet Tudeh Party, demanded all Iran’s oil should be nationalised except that in the North which was run by the Russians! After Mossadiq was toppled, the Soviet Union was the first to recognise the new government. Many Tudeh Party members fled to Russia. Again they encountered desperate conditions, some were imprisoned and some had to toe the Soviet Party line to the letter in order to have a basic living standard.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

– The White Revolution or the Shah’s program of reforms took place. Women were given the right to vote and feudal landlords had to pass the ownership of their land to the peasants and divide it amongst those who worked on the land. Workers were given a share of the profits on top of their wages. Army recruits were given the choice to serve as literacy corps, Health and Hygiene corps or Agricultural corps. The reforms were backed and encouraged by the Americans.
Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel

– Shiite clerics came to power in 1979, US embassy was occupied, Israeli embassy ceased to exist but the Russian embassy got bigger and bigger. The Soviet backed puppet Tudeh Party were told to back Khomeini and the clerics. The new theocracy started a mass arrest of Iranian Marxists including the Tudeh party leaders and members and most of them were executed. Russia maintained good relations with the Ayatollahs and never complained about the massacre of Iranian Communists. Some Marxists fled to Russia where they suffered great hardship. Those who were lucky, managed to escape again and flee to Western Europe and America, where they now enjoy comfortable lives.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

– Saddam started a war against Iran. Saddam was pro-Soviet. His weapons were all Russian made. Iranians resisted the Iraqi aggression with the remnants of the US weapons they had from before the 1979 takeover of the country by the clerics. While we shouted long live Palestine and death to American Saddam, Russia, the PLO, Cuba and the Socialist camp backed Saddam. Islamic Republic resorted to buy arms from Israel. Finally the US toppled Saddam.
**Conclusion: Death to America, Death to England, Death to Israel**

Azamehr organised this protest outside the Russian embassy last year on the anniversary of the liberation of Azerbijan from the Soviet yoke.

sanctions on the IRGC

By ATWadmin On October 25th, 2007 at 8:55 pm

The Bush administration has imposed sweeping new sanctions against Iran’s Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), which the U.S. accuses of supporting terrorism, developing Iran’s nuclear program and exporting missiles. At a State Department news conference today, Condoleezza Rice and Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson announced sanctions that will cut off more that 20 Iranian entities controlled by the IRGC from the American financial system. That means companies outside the U.S. engaged in business dealings with these entities risk financial penalty. The announcement represents the first time that the U.S. has imposed sanctions against the armed forces of a sovereign government.  You can click here for background information on the IRGC, including information about its economic and political influence and the threat it poses. As tensions between Iran and the U.S. and Europe intensify, The Israel Project Founder and President Jennifer Laszlo Mizrahi underscored the need to seek a peaceful resolution.

"It is extremely important to use the power of the purse for peace and use a war of wallets to try to avoid a war of weapons," Mizrahi said. "These critical efforts at the federal level to stop the threat posed by Iran from impacting security around the world are vital at this time. More, however, must be done at the state level as well. Already, critical legislation has been passed in several states, including California, Florida and Louisiana, to divest state pension funds from helping Iran. Many other states, including Pennsylvania, New York and Massachusetts, are working on similar legislation and this movement needs to spread nationwide as quickly as possible in order to help prevent a war."

From the BBC:  "it was not clear how big an effect the sanctions would have, since the Guards probably had very limited assets …. However, they said the move might discourage other countries from dealing with the Iranian institutions"

Interestingly you can judge for yourself as The Israel Project has provided a partial list of companies doing business in Iran . It also has information about divestment legislation and efforts to keep U.S. investments out of Iran,  see Terror-free investing resources as well as a state-by-state update of Iran divestment legislation.

al quds counter demo in london

By ATWadmin On October 8th, 2007 at 12:31 pm

Well done to Harrys Place for yesterdays Al Quds counter demo in London. From the Jerusalem Post:

The counterprotest was organized by the popular British blog "Harry’s Place‚" under the banner "Oppose the Government of Iran, support the people of Iran." It included a variety of individuals, Jewish and non-Jewish, from all along the political spectrum: Iranian dissident groups and individuals stood with human rights campaigners, socialist groups like the Alliance for Workers’ Liberty and anarchist group Class War.

"We wanted to see if we could pull together people from across the political spectrum, from communists to liberals, who support democracy and human rights in Iran and oppose the current murderous regime," Dave T., the proprietor of "Harry’s Place" and organizer of the counter-demo, told The Jerusalem Post.

They also report on Ahmadinejad’s solution to the Israel Problem, from his 2007 Al Quds Day speech….

Ethnic cleansing:

Millions of Iranians once again held annual International Qods Day rallies on Friday, with a call by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for Israel to be relocated, away the Middle East and the Islamic world.

"Canada and Alaska have vast lands, why don’t you relocate them (Israel) over there and keep helping them over there with (aid of) 30 to 40 billion dollars per year for building a new existence over there," President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said in a speech.

Pleased to see that the top US military commander in Iraq, Gen David Petraeus, has accused Iran’s ambassador of belonging to an elite unit of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. Gen Petraeus said Hassan Kazemi-Qomi was a member of the Quds Force, which the US believes backs foreign Islamic revolutionary movements. Gen Petraeus said he had no doubt Iran was behind attacks that had led to the deaths of US soldiers.

Petraeus is QUITE right to blow the cover on the so-called Ambassador and it’s high time we all understood that it is IRAN whic is the power behind Hamas, behind Hezbollah, behind much of the “insurgency” in Iraq! IRAN is the centre of the axis of evil and even though our media is determined to deny this reality,  a reality it still remains. The sooner firm military action is taken against Iran the better – we have to stop these Islamic wacko’s getting the capability to nuke Israel.  EU wishful thinking and UN wringing of hands are no substitute for effective policy and the longer this denial of Iranian true intentions goes on, the greater the danger we all face from the Mad Mullahs. It’s time we send in the planes, took out their nuke capabilities, and delivered the resounding message that we will not tolerate their wicked destabilising actions in this region a day longer.

Life Lesson: Don’t Invite Your Enemy to Lunch

By ATWadmin On October 4th, 2007 at 3:57 am

…because nothing good can come of it.

To those among you who honestly thought that Columbia’s invitation to Ahmadinejad provided the world with an opportunity  to see this vile man as he truly is, and an opportunity to appreciate America’s freedom-loving academia: you were wrong. So, so wrong.

Ahmadinejad in a speech October 3rd in Tehran, called the Bush Administration a media-controlling dictatorship, and his American critics “Zionists”:

“Referring to his speech at Columbia University, President Ahmadinejad said, "The Zionists wanted to turn the event into a trial of the Isalmic Republic of Iran, but with help from the Almighty God, the plot turned into a scene in which nations could express their hatred with the rulers in the White House."

"The behavior of the government and media in the US shows that there is dictatorship in that country and people are not allowed to know the facts," said the president.

"The Iranian nation are not afraid of listening to others and believe that the whole world accepts the strong logic of the revolution and the Islamic regime," the president concluded.”

His speech at Columbia emboldened him and gave him PR fodder. Sadly, I say:  I told you so.  (HT: The Belmont Club)

Credit Where Credit’s Due

By ATWadmin On September 24th, 2007 at 9:36 pm

Well, let’s face it ladies and gents, it didnt turn out quite as we predicted it would. ATW’s intellectual hate figure of the week, Charles Bollinger of Columbia University, did not fall onto his knees in fawning adoration of Ahmadinejihad as predicted. He did in fact reportedly take what can only be described as quite a decent pop at the evil swine.

" Mr. President, you exhibit all the signs of a petty and cruel dictator," Bollinger said, to loud applause.

He said Ahmadinejad’s denial of the Holocaust might fool the illiterate and ignorant.

"When you come to a place like this it makes you simply ridiculous," Bollinger said. "The truth is that the Holocaust is the most documented event in human history."

"You are either brazenly provocative or astonishingly uneducated," Bollinger told Ahmadinejad about the leader’s Holocaust denial.

It gets even better though. It isnt only the Holocaust that Ahmadinejihad is denying the existence of…

Pressed specifically about punishment of homosexuals, he said: "In Iran we don’t have homosexuals like in your country."

With the audience laughing derisively, he continued: "In Iran we do not have this phenomenon. I don’t know who’s told you that we have this."

So come on guys, credit where credit’s due. Bollinger may have been wrong to do what he did and it may well have been pure publicity-seeking as has been speculated. But what he most definitely didn’t do was simply pander to the man as many of us assumed he would.

So well done Mr Bollinger. I don’t like what you did in inviting the man in the first place, but you certainly arent the fawning Dhimmi I accused you of being.

Propoganda 101: Because It’s Easier to Feel Than Think

By ATWadmin On September 24th, 2007 at 8:15 pm

Ahmadinejad has spoken at the Press Club, and the progressive left in America approves his message.  The left, America’s  “progressive left” as personified in the blog “The Daily Kos," confirm what I have long suspected: the progressive left seeks to destroy America and the West.

If you’re not familiar with the Daily Kos, it is an extremely popular blog – daily average of 600,000 hits per Wiki- offering progressive points of view, and representing the “netroots.”  Their admitted goal is to influence and strengthen the Democratic Party in the US.

One Kos writer, a lesbian, has developed a crush on Mahmoud. She writes in her article:  “Why I Have A Little Crush on Mahmoud Ahmadinejad”

Another Kos writer thniks that Ahmadinejad is not such a bad guy, afterall:   “I try to keep an open mind about everything. And I have to say that I think our government and the MSM have really spun us on Iran and this guy.”

For those of you needing a refresher, Ahmadinejad seeks the destruction of the West, in particular Israel and the US.  In AHMADINEJAD’s own words:

"We don’t shy away from declaring that Islam is ready to rule the world.“

"What is important is that they have shown the way to martyrdom which we must follow.” [President Ahmadinejad’s comments on an aircraft crash in Tehran that killed 108 people in December 2005]

Ahmadinejad praises Iran for being able to recruit thousands of suicide bombers a day. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad praised his country’s ability to recruit "hundreds of suicide bombers a day," saying "suicide is an invincible weapon. Suicide bombers in this land showed us the way, and they enlighten our future.“ Amadinejad said the will to commit suicide was "one of the best ways of life."(HT: Hugh Hewitt)

If Europe is counting on the US to protect her from a nuclear Iran and the destruction of the coming Caliphate, I wouldn’t count on it.
