I do wish Israelis would make up their minds.

A report in ynetnews (via drudge) suggests that Washington has sent Tehran a message saying it will not back Israeli strikes on nuclear facilities as long as Iran refrains from attacking American facilities in the Persian Gulf. It fits in with recent reports of a deteriorating relationship between Washington and Israel. Whatever the truth, Israeli and other commentators on the ynetnews page are clear: Obama is another Chamberlain, he’s on Iran’s side and Washington has abandoned Israel.

So what was all this about?:

During that same visit, when addressing AIPAC, Netanyahu declared that “the Jewish State will not allow those who seek our destruction to possess the means to achieve that goal”, that “never again will the Jewish people be powerless and supplicants for our fate and our very survival, never again. That is why Israel must always have the ability to defend itself, by itself, against any threats”, and that “when it comes to Israel’s survival, we must always remain the masters of our fate.”

It’s an explicit statement of sovereignty and self-determination. Fine, that is the point of Israel afterall. So they should deal with Iran themselves and determine their own fate instead of trying to drag others into their battles, no?

No sane person would want to see a war with Iran.  But in my view it is a necessary evil as the alternative will be much worse! Consider this news.

A strike on Iran’s nuclear sites would spark a 30-day war with missile attacks on Israel’s cities and as many as 500 dead, according to the Israeli minister responsible for preparing home defences.

That’s bad! And no one wants innocents to lose their precious life on EITHER side. But the Mad Mullahs MUST be defanged! It seems to me that they are impervious to logic and reason and therefore whilst the prospect is appalling, doing NOTHING is so much worse.

Good news.

After years of development, the 30,000-pound behemoth bunker buster is ready to be used if needed, US Air Force Secretary Michael Donley said this week.  “If it needed to go today, we would be ready to do that,” he was quoted as saying. “We continue to do testing on the bomb to refine its capabilities, and that is ongoing. We also have the capability to go with existing configuration today,” Donley added.

Time to defang the Mullahs.

Isn’t this a charming image of a political rally of women in Iran? Where is the OUTRAGED voice of the Left?

More than 1,000 ballistic missiles capable of reaching U.S. bases
By Reza Kahlili

Just days after the breakdown of talks with the West over Iran’s nuclear program, the deputy chief commander of the Revolutionary Guards announced that there soon will be war – and that Allah will ensure his forces are victorious.

The Revolutionary Guards have more than 1,000 ballistic missiles capable of reaching all U.S. bases in the region, all of Israel and some capitals in Europe. In collaboration with China and North Korea, they are also working on intercontinental ballistic missiles.

Salami said the Guards are on high alert, adding, “Our forces in relation to our internal security will complete their mission with all of their capability.”

Gen. Hossein Salami, in a televised interview, boasted that, “Iran has complete control of all the enemy’s interests around the world and is on a path to reach equivalency with world powers.” The commander emphasized that Iran’s nuclear program is irreversible, the Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

Salami said Iranian ballistic missiles can travel at several times the speed of sound and cannot easily be tracked and destroyed. “Our defense inventory is so great that at times our brothers in the Guards face limitations with space.”

Hmmph I wonder which Capitals in Europe. Nice people those Persians all guided by the Religion of Peace

I have been writing about this one for years and my line has stayed intact; Iran must be de-fanged off its nuclear weapons ambitions BEFORE it gets to finish what Hitler started.

Iran could be allowed to continue with its nuclear programme if it agrees to stop enriching uranium to a critical level from which it could quickly produce a nuclear weapon.

More wishful thinking as a substitute for effective policy. It seems to me that Israel under Netanyahu is getting ready to do what is necessary. There is never a good time to take such action but there is a right time. It is coming.

Hard to distinguish between the hype and the actual but I suppose we should all be somewhat concerned;

A senior Iranian commander says the country has reverse-engineered an American spy drone captured by Tehran’s armed forces last year and has begun building a copy. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, who is chief of the aerospace division of the powerful Revolutionary Guards, was quoted Sunday by the semi-official Mehr news agency as saying that experts are also recovering data from the US RQ-170 Sentinel captured in December in eastern Iran. He said that information retrieved from the drone shows it was used in US missions against Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.

We’ll see although my instinct is to think that US intelligence will have put in place certain contingencies to cope with such a set of circumstances.

The real issue here is not the reverse engineering of a drone but rather the unquestionable reverse engineering of Iranian civilisation since Ayatollah Khomeini swept to power in 1979. Two Islamic thumbs way up to former US President Jimmy Carter for his assistance in that regard. A once proud Nation has descended into a theocratic Islam tyranny which shows scant regard for the sanctity of human life. The world’s first Islamic Republic is the place which hangs gays, stones the allegedly adulterous to death, sponsors terrorism around the world, exudes anti-Semitism and hungers to finish what Hitler started. It is tragic to see what has happened in Iran and worse to observe the cowardice of the “International Community” as it simply shrugs its shoulders and leave those who seek change to the tender mercies of Ahmadinejad and his goon squad.

I see that Ahmadinejad is showing just how well “nuanced diplomacy” is working out …

“As God is my witness, the Iranian nation will not give a damn for (your) bombs, warships and planes,” he said in a televised speech in the city of Karaj west of Tehran. “They say all (options) are on the table. Well, let them rot there. You yourself will rot,” he railed, in characteristically fiery language.

If we let Iran get nuclear weapons capability, we will have brought about a situation that will fundamentally change the world. It’s time to defang the Mullahs NOW.

Excellent speech from Israeli PM Netanyahu in the US last evening;

“Unfortunately, Iran’s nuclear program has continued to march forward,” he said. “Israel has waited for diplomacy to work, we’ve waited for sanctions to work. None of us can afford to wait much longer. “As prime minister of Israel I will never let my people live in the shadow of annihilation.” He stressed that all options were on the table, but that containment – leaving Iran to develop its programme under monitoring – was “not an option”. “The Jewish state will not allow those who seek our destruction the means to achieve that goal. A nuclear armed Iran must be stopped,” Mr Netanyahu told Aipac.

He is right. The “nuanced diplomacy” approach favoured by President Obama and the chattering liberal class is going nowhere because the Mullahs are deranged beyond reason. Instead, what is needed is “nuanced bombing” of their atomic ambitions. As I frequently say, a war with the Mullahs is not a desirable outcome as it will cause many great problems, increase the terrorist threat globally and send oil prices spiralling even further upward. But doing NOTHING and allowing the Mullahs to obtain nuclear weapon strike capability is much worse.

I’ve argued this FOR YEARS now – send in the planes. Enough with tolerating their holocaust ambitions.

The UN has eyes WIDE closed re the above. Here is a rather good insight by Rich Lowry..

“In March 1945, Adolf Hitler gave his infamous Nero Decree, essentially calling for the destruction of Germany. After the first U.S. atomic attack on Hiroshima, the Japanese war minister mused about how wonderful it would be if his nation were destroyed “like a beautiful flower.” It is in this tradition that former Iranian president Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani — a relative pragmatist — said that “even one nuclear bomb inside Israel will destroy everything. However, it will only harm the Islamic world. It is not irrational to contemplate such an eventuality.”

The danger that Iran represents is there for all to see. Rich is right in suggesting that Iran will behave rationally but it’s rationality is steeped in cataclysmic fanaticism.
