Honour Thy Father?

By ATWadmin On August 18th, 2007 at 8:52 am

Edwin Coglan, 78, paid £40,000 from the sale of his home to pay for a nursing home place for himself. He thought he’d be secure for the rest of his life, but the money has now run out and North Somerset Council has threatened him with eviction. His son, Andrew Coglan, says his father has had three heart attacks, had suffered from dementia and is unable to look after himself. However, North Somerset council said the pensioner was not frail enough to qualify for free care at the Summer Lane nursing home in Weston-super-Mare. Andrew Coglan knows who to blame:

His son said the case was a "damning indictment" of how the elderly were treated by an "uncaring society". He said: "I feel the whole of society has let my father down. Pensioners seem to be the forgotten people. I just hope no one else goes through this. "My dad was forced to sell his home to pay for his nursing home place. Now the cash has run out, the nursing home want to evict him." He said the family had made clear at the time the money was paid that there would be no more.

Whatever the details of the case, which I suspect we aren’t getting, here’s an idea for Andrew Coglan – he could try looking after his own father. How’s about he grows up and gives something back to the man who loves and raised him? His council may well be out of order, but then he wouldn’t be the first to discover out that you should never, ever put your faith in the state. "I feel the whole of society has let my father down", he says. Rubbish. He should stop abdicating his duty, be a man, and take responsibility for his family.

The profound moral malaise at the heart of modern British society is once more exemplified in the death of Evren Anil.  He has died a week after being attacked by two teenagers he confronted for throwing litter into a car window. Mr Anil, was in the front passenger seat when the pair threw rubbish through the open window as the car waited at traffic lights. When challenged one of the youths took out a knife and Mr Anil was stabbed or punched in the face, police said. He has just died from the injuries inflicted by the teenagers.

Both suspects, who were described as being black and in their late teens, ran off into the nearby Central Hill Estate. Det Ch Insp Cliff Lyons said: "This was an excessive use of violence by two youths who apparently attacked Mr Anil because he dared to challenge their behaviour."

Hang on a second. What’s with the "excessive use of violence" line? There is NO room for any violence!! Those who throw out litter INTO cars truly deserve to be prosecuted. That Mr Anil sought to remind them of their civic responsibility is a good thing. That he has been stabbed to death for his bother is a tragedy.

The rule of law in this land has become tired and clapped out. It does not appear to frighten the criminal class, instead its failure frightens the law-abiding people. I am very sorry to hear of the death of Mr Anil and trust that the guilty spend a VERY long time behind bars. I suspect the reality is that even if convicted they will soon be out drinking in bars. That’s justice UK style.

braveheart.jpgAs Andrew McCann commented previously, the Scottish Nationalist Party has unveiled plans that could pave the way for the break-up of the Union with the rest of the United Kingdom. (No surprise there then – although one must also reflect on Northern Ireland First Minister Dr Ian Paisley’s admiration for Alex Salmond!) But what interests me is that this statement comes in the wake of a YouGov opinion poll showing a significant drop in public backing in Scotland for independence. Paradoxically, the same survey showed growing support for the party led by Mr Salmond whose political honeymoon north of the border has mirrored Gordon Brown’s across Britain as a whole. Mr Salmond has also been helped by signs of disarray within the Scottish Labour Party. It seems the Scots love the idea of being independent but resile from the reality of it. I don’t blame them – without the powerhouse southern English economy, poor old Scotland and its junkie like reliance on the State would find the high(land) life not quite so easy to fund. So Salmond and his ilk can continue to dream of the unreachable goal – the crown in the pocket is what makes the Union secure.

When Will Liberals Apologise?

nstones114a.jpgGARRY NEWLOVE is the latest victim to lose his life to the scum of Britain. Married to Helen, he was the 47 year old father to three daughters. He was beaten to death after trying to prevent a gang of teenagers from attacking his car. You probably know the details. If not, every newspaper has them today.

For all that conservatives are right in argument, liberals have won all of the cultural battles of the last 50 years. They fought for their ideal of a society and they got it. The finest police forces are now wholly-owned subsidiaries of the cultural Marxists, seeing themselves as arbiters between ‘victims of society’ (criminals) and those who have been stripped of the legal right of self defence. The very notion of punishment and shame is under threat as prisons are purposely run down and criminal behaviour never more ignored than it is today. Does anyone seriously believe that the savages who beat Garry Newlove down and stamped and kicked his head will face due punishment?

Liberals got their no-fault divorces in the 1960s. So many children are raised by unmarried mothers, encouraged to have children out of wedlock by a welfare state which extends its tentacles into every area of life, that it no longer invokes surprise. Fatherhood is an increasingly rare state for many actual fathers. Despite the overwhelming evidence that children without fathers simply cannot be raised properly, fatherhood is still under attack. Meaningful education has been eradicated, to be replaced by Marxist/environmental hocus-pocus. British history, and the fostering of knowledge and pride in our children for their culture and birthright, has been declared verboten. The organisations which once underpinned a civilised and gentle society; the family and Church, charities and voluntary organisations have been co-opted by a state which will not tolerate any act of civil society which is unregulated.

So liberals have won, and today, Britain is vulgar and barbaric. The changes that have taken place were deliberate and planned. They didn’t come about by accident; they were forced upon a nation which in living memory was the most civilised and gentle of societies. I don’t believe that most liberals actually desired the outcomes they brought about. I’ll do them the honour of regarding them as misguided. But even they must surely realise that 50 years of liberal social policy has been a disaster.

The question now is, when will they apologise?

You really should read this excellent article by Fraser Nelson over on The Business to get an insight into the real North/South divide in Britain and how Labour’s policies are deepening it. Consider this;

"In truth, Britain has suffered a pedestrian economic performance since Labour came to power: most OECD countries have fared better from the expansion of the globalised economy. The UK figures also mask a huge disparity between London’s boom and the atrocious performance of the rest of the UK.

This “North-South divide” crops up from time to time in British politics – emphasising the widening prosperity gap between London, the East of England and the South East – and the rest of the country. The Institute for Public Policy Research (IPPR), a left-wing think tank, this week released a report showing the gap has never been wider – and complained that central government is not formally committed to reducing it. Touchingly, the IPPR suggested there could be higher regional economic growth if only Whitehall would set a target for it.

If only. Scotland has had such targets for years. Economic growth has been declared its top priority – yet if Scotland were an independent nation, its economy would have ranked as the fourth-worst performer in the developed world between 1997 and 2005. It grew by a cumulative 18% during those years while its Celtic cousins in Ireland expanded their economy by 69%. London’s economy expanded by 37%. But the figures were dire in the North East (17%) Wales (18%) and the North West (19%). The eurozone area grew by 22% – woeful, but a better performance than that enjoyed by most of England"

It gets worse. Think about this for a minute or two…

In Liverpool Walton, 68% of the electorate either receives key benefits or is employed by the state. In Birmingham Northfield, it is 65%; in Manchester Blackley 63%; in Newcastle upon Tyne North 63%. These statistics are more redolent of the Warsaw Pact economies than today’s booming Britain.

How can Liverpool hope to function as an economy if a sickening 26% of its workforce is on out-of-work benefits? The same picture holds true across several of Britain’s largest cities. In Glasgow, it is also 26%; in Manchester 23%; in Birmingham 22%. Yet head south, and this figure shrinks. It is 11% in Westminster and Lambeth, boroughs of London. In Kingston-upon-Thames, it is 8%. In Woking, a commuter area, it is as low as 5%. This is the true North-South divide: the difference in people being paid not to work.

In essence, the financial success of London is being used to prop up a Soviet-style state dependency culture further North. The socialisation of the UK economy is deepening the North/South divide.

This is a very interesting video that is worth watching. It features a Sikh gentleman called Rajinder Singh who has some very interesting  things to say about Islam, the UK, the Labour Party and the partition of India. My thanks to those who brought this to my attention and sorry about the delay in posting it – thanks to BNP Member for explaining how to do it!

I fully agree with this post over on Dizzy Thinks in response to a House of Lords report saying how tremendously dangerous the Internet is for fraud etc and how "something must be done!" by the Government. James Brokenshire, a Conservative home affairs spokesman, is quoted as saying

"This report underlines the Governments complete failure to appreciate or address the extent of crime committed online. There is little coordination, leadership or urgency sending out a message that this country is a soft touch on e-crime."

Dizzy makes the excellent point that the internet IS indeed a bit like the Wild West and the stupid people will always get conned and ripped off, and the Government can’t legislate to stop people being born idiots. Not that this will stop them trying…!

I was reading a report that black youngsters in the UK need a new generation of role models, drawn from the legal profession, business and education, to counter under-achievement and involvement in crime. Too often the role models for young black men are celebrities and rappers who glamorise crime, guns or gangs, the independent Reach report said. It came as a charity boss claimed that Britain’s inner cities were starting to resemble American ghettos and that a lack of money was to blame.

Well, there’s parts of this I agree with and parts I don’t.

Of course having better role models is a sensible idea, and they are not going to be found in the gangsta-rapper culture that seems to be all pervading. I also think that some of Britain’s inner-cities do have a problem ghetto-style.  But money is not the answer – the family is. There are just over one million black people in the UK. Almost half of all births to this group are to single mothers – the father’s having legged it. This creates a vicious circle with such children being much more likely to be at risk of falling pregnant in their teens. It is the decline of the family unit, and religious values, once such a strong part of the black community, that is the key issue here and Government has no intention of addressing that. Thus society declines…

euro2.jpgThere is not the shadow of doubt in my mind that Gordon Brown knew EXACTLY what he was doing when he singled out Kofi Annan’s former bagman, Lord Malloch Brown, to head up the British Government’s relationship with the UN. It is now revealed that Malloch Brown told a think tank and Web site in Brussels last October that he believed the EU would eventually have a single seat within UN institutions. "I think it will go in stages," Malloch Brown told the EU Observer Web site. "We are going to see a growing spread of it institution by institution. It is not going to happen with a flash and a bang."

He’s quite right. Under Brown, as an example of how good Europeans we all are, the UK will agree to give up it’s permanent seat on the UN Security Council and allow the EU to take our place. This will gain favourable headines for Brown where it counts – in the UK media and will be hailed as evidence that Britian is now playing a "leading" role at the heart of Europe. Malloch Brown accidentally spoke the truth – we should all listen.

I note that the British Foreign Office, that nest of vipers located in Whitehall, are fighting the war on terror, by ..err, seeking the return of five captured Jihadi from Guantanamo Bay. Even better news, the five concerned aren’t even UK nationals but had been granted refugee status, indefinite leave or exceptional leave to remain before they were detained! Little Master Milliband  has written to US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to formally make the request. The men  have been named as Shaker Aamer, Jamil El Banna, Omar Deghayes, Binyam Mohamed and Abdennour Sameur. Good British names, eh? – and boy does the Brown Government want them back.

Predictably, the Government’s move the seek the release of the Jihadi was welcomed by civil rights groups.

James Welch, legal director for quisling campaign group Liberty said: "This change of policy is extremely welcome, especially if it signals a bigger change of approach on both sides of the Atlantic. Surely US and UK governments need no further evidence that internment, kidnap and torture have been completely counterproductive in the struggle against terrorism."

I say the best place for those Jihadi captured fighting OUR forces is either in captivity or on the end of a noose. But the Foreign Office and Liberty want them set free in Britain even when they are NOT British citizens. Britain loves terrorists.
