From Big Government:

“McAleer, a veteran journalist and film maker, has recently made a documentary “Not Evil Just Wrong’ which takes a sceptical look at the science and politics behind Global Warming concerns.

He asked Professor Schneider about his opinions on Climategate……During some testy exchanges with McAleer, UN officials and Professor Schneider’s assistants twice tried to cut short McAleer’s question.

However as the press conference drew to a close Professor Schneider’s assistant called armed UN security guards to the room. They held McAleer and aggressively ordered cameraman Ian Foster to stop filming. The guard threatened to take away the camera and expel the film crew from the conference if they did not obey his instructions to stop filming Professor Schneider.

The guard demanded to look at the film crews press credentials and refused to allow them to film until Professor Schneider left the room.
McAleer said he was disappointed by Professor Schneider’s behaviour.

“It was a press conference. Climategate is a major story – it goes to the heart of the Global Warming debate by calling into question the scientific data and the integrity of many scientists involved.”

  1. This is appaling. I hope this video receives wide circulation so as many people as possible see how the UN acts when awkward questions are politely put. I also await an apology from the UN Secretary General.

  2. Since Professor Schneider is an advocate of presenting "scary scenarios" to intimidate the public into supporting the AGW theory, I suppose it’s appropriate that armed goons ought to intimidate journalists into silence.

And I’d be interested to know by what lawful authority the UN employs armed guards.

  3. Another incident – as when Gore stiff armed the Irish journalist asking inconvenient questions – where the arrogance of the alarmists makes you doubt everything they have to say.

  4. And I’d be interested to know by what lawful authority the UN employs armed guards.

Indeed. God forbid that anyone does anything without a permission slip from the correct "lawful authority".

  5. I notice that captions are required to helpfully explain what it is that we are seeing.

Naw, it couldn’t be that those who quote-mine stolen emails and take them out of context in order to smear scientists are being misleading here. Could it?

Where are the sceptics when you need them?

  6. What are you trying to say Frank? We did not need captions to hear the questions posed. We did not need captions to observe the polite manner in which these questions were put. We certainly did not need captions to observe the confusion of the respondent and officials and finaly the extremely aggresive behaviour of the guard, when no threat was evident, was completely uncalled for or did you think his behaviour was a reasonable response?

  7. Peter T,

"What are you trying to say Frank? "

I’m saying there is no reason to suppose McAleer started telling the truth after he stopped speaking.

Especially when we can plainly see that Schneider did answer his question and was ready to answer followups (as if the silly twerp had some right to demand some other climate scientist should answer his allegations about Jones in the first place)

  8. We need Frank to put what we saw and what we heard on the video into ‘context’. Is that so, Frank?
