    Good find Patty!!!

Good Lord, the site’s sloooowwww again!!!

  3. Daphne: I thought you’d like that. That blog is so funny.

  4. "I’m a global warming-ist and I’m OK
I fret all night and I doom-monger all day!
I call for the banning of petroleum in cars
I dress in women’s clothing and I hang around in bars!"

  5. Tom, that’s quite naughty!

  6. Ha ha, Daphne, it’s a paraphrasing of an old Monty Python sketch (the Lumberjack).
……aww, you know what I mean!

  7. Yeah Tom I do, in my part of the world you would be called a rockin’ good old boy – a term of southern endearment for actual Real Men who are Cool!

Did David forward my excellent music selection for you?

  8. Seriously though, this whole "Catholic/Protestant" thing – the older I get, the more I see that there are areas of great value which are shared by both churches, and we have far more in common than we have to divide us.

  9. Maybe it’s because I’m American, but there has never been this great divide or animosity between Catholics and Protestants in my "world". I really don’t understand the religious schism in Ireland, and it makes me sad to see the dividing line being one Christian religion against another.

So totally off topic 🙂 Apologies Patty!

  10. Tom I loved your song

and now for something compleatly different

  11. We’re waiting Troll………..?

  12. Daphine,

The Kennedy election? The 19th century quota?

America has had its fear of Jesuits and Papal control as much as anyone,

    …………………………………………………………………………………………………………..

but Tom is right, the advancement of Protestant society and its principles now encompassing most of the former HRE, because where popish corruption brought diminution to the people and squalor (if you require your subjects to forever ,literally, kiss your boots, you need to keep them squalid) and the counter reformation, many Protestant ethics and ideas have been adopted by the Roman Church, however the Bibles rejection of the vast majority of its practices as an organised societal religion (such as substitution, mediation and idolatry) means that its functional compatibility with Christianity is limited, I use the C word because the term protestant implies that we are a reaction to apostasy, we are not, our covenant is the old covenant, the only covenant, the precious Blood. It is Rome that is incidental and a reaction to the Church of God.

The idea that the resistance of papal domination is a schism is misconstrued, the throne on the seven hills has persecuted Christians for centuries, it is only now in this quite season when the power of Rome has been so diminished that we are free of it, our Brethren in places like Spain and South America are not so lucky. The idea that this domineering organisation can be cuddled up to is dangerous, for they make it clear they have no interest in learning the Bible truth, but only in how by flattery to get people to ascent to the domination they no longer have the power to impose. The papal bulls regarding the Christians reflect this as does the character of the ecumenical relationship with the ‘church’ of England.

We have much in common with Catholics in that our wholesome Protestant ethics have been adopted by many of their societies , and that they are human beings, and as such we love them, and that they have as much right to hear the Bible as we do, if only they could break with the charlatans and their painted dolls and the gold fixtures, which they say are the glittering likeness of heaven, I ask you can you not see the madness in this ? The glory of God goes beyond anything human skill can achieve and human arrogance can conceive, The spirit of God is more precious than any gaudy hall or any fancy place. The road to perdition is a fancy road for most men. Those who tell you in their painted halls and fine robes that they are greater than you and can mediate for you to your Father in Heaven are liars. We are the children of God, every single one of us, Princes and Princess in his name and the thief in his rebel kingdom will give you only the most paltry of ransom, for what is opulence compared to redemption , for kissing his toes and calling him your father.

  13. Juan: Do you do parties? I am looking for an entertainer for a barbeque this weekend.

  14. mahons, shhhhhh!
Juan is a Sinn Fein plant to garner US support by illustrating the kind of stuff NI Nationalists have do deal with.

  15. The Artist Formerly Known as Cunningham: LOL. I should have known.

  16. which bits did you find funny Mahons ? As a man whom lives on what was the greatest nation on earth, it being founded on protestant ideas and ethics, imported from the previous greatest nation on earth, it being founded on protestant ideas and ethics i would have thought you would have understood the point, or is it honest objections, phrased openly in accordance with our shared (reformist) idea of free speech, that caused an your pointless attempt at silliness.

the fact that Northern Ireland nationalists are protestant on the whole i will assume you mean Irish nationalists who live in Northern Ireland, in which case the very idea that a religious statement could be seen by you as an illustration of the character of a deserving enemy is not going to win much support from anyone.

  18. Juan: I found it funny in its totality, a great work of performance art. You are to be congratulated.

As for silliness, I find that Satire often works best when confronted with, how shall I say this, unkind sentiments of others (see Swift for example).

I had no idea that the American Indians were Protestants.

I apologize but I can’t understand what you are trying to say in your second sentence, but I think that may be directed to Noel so I’ll let him deal with it if he wishes.

  19. It sure was Mahons,

and unless you learned your history form Walt Disney, you will be aware that the USA was not founded by native Americans, it annhilated them.

"As for silliness, I find that Satire often works best when confronted with, how shall I say this, unkind sentiments of others (see Swift for example)."

Im not sure if was a sentiment rather than an opinion, but yes in the absense of an engaging rebuttle, I suppose satire directed against the individual rather than the statement is all that more limited people can utilise… and although unkind (i try to enter discussions with the benighted on religion in a gentlemanly fashion, i did fall short of this above, although i professed my love of each and every lay romanist on the globe), I am not sure it is entirely inexcusable to be unkind to point out something you beleive to be a genuine deadly error.

I mean you did support regime change in the near orient with deadly force right ?

Rhetorical engagment does seem kinder than that in all farness, it does not mean that the unkindness of regime change is wrong any more than frankness is wrong.

  20. Juan: Walt Disney was a great source of pleasure, but I learned history elsewhere.

As for your love of each and every one of us lay romanists, like the leper said to the prostitute – keep the tip.

Is it possible for you to actually say plainly what you mean "regime change in the near orient"? I suspect you are referring to Iraq, but I can’t be sure.

  21. Juan, got the gist.
My husband is a Protestant and takes regular snarky pleasure in calling me an idol worshipping validator of a corrupt church.
I take great pleasure in smacking him around when he gets on his silly baptist foot washing, snake handling, tongue speaking sanctimonious soapbox.

So what do you think of global warming?

  22. Should have said "primitive" instead of "silly"! 🙂

  23. Daphne: Juan thinks global warming is God’s fury directed at the anti-Christ in Rome. But he loves us lay romanists.

  24. ROFL – very very funny Patty

  25. So as a man who like myself takes great pleasure in the unique talents of all at Disney, but does not take it as a history lesson, we can agree that your conjecture that the USA was founded by Geronimo and little man afraid of horses is just a plain old childish nonsense attempt at a sharp comment, and I’m afraid I think its the case again with the leper comment, it just does not make sense, also given that anyone with even the slightest interest in orientalism and recent American history (and the two must now come hand in hand) should have no need to assume anything about the state I was referring to, given the length at which you comment on both, I hope this was merely another unfortunate attempt humour at my expense rather than a genuine ignorance.

    Daphine,

Ridiculous cults are an inevitable product of religious freedom; Human intelligence does mostly counter act this though.
The stance of Bible Christianity (or ‘genuine reformationist Protestantism’, if you like) is so far removed from " snake handling, tongue speaking " that I can only assume your husband is involved with some sort of alternative lifestyle group, whilst these are attractive personality substitutes, they should not be confused with personal redemption through Jesus Christ, foot washing is an act of humility (which you can no doubt tell I’m full of today, Juan is as flawed as anyone, if not more so). Humility being a virtue that I adore I admire your husband for it. Unless of course he’s doing it to conform and win kudos from his alt. lifestyle buddies, whom I call stupid, but a man called the Reverend I.R.K. Paisley (a talented and well versed Bible Preacher) termed ‘churchians’’. Again in that case this should not be confused with biblical literalism.
Anyway maybe you should try it yourself, the vilest people on earth are those who enjoy slapping people around and humility is a good cure (the bible really can help you, when you understand to whom vengeance belongs, it helps you keep your own attempts in check), If you feel Christianity to be the preserve of the mentally unstable, or to have no function outside of the entertainment of the gullible, you clearly do not understand the structures of your society or its origins, Christianity is the fundamental element in you morals, material prosperity, rights, freedoms and access to functioning medicine, if the Gospel had never been freed you would probably either be a starving serf or a Muslim starving serf, if Islam could even have been born without the teachings of the Torah and the Evangelises

    Mahons again,

You see now if you went to a church which spoke the gospel rather than a Chapel that bid you to kiss stones and toes and bones and chant like a nutjob, (almost as if they wish to subserviated you to an institution with superstitious terror and relief, isn’t it?) you would realise that no self respecting Christian would hold such a position in the era of the completed gospel, God gave both you and nature and the devil (the prince of this earth in Christian thinking) a free hand.

As to my opinion on Global warming

I feel that many people research the issue and form opinions on it based on predetermined interests and prejudice (if you hate big business and western society you believe in it, if you are the opposite you don’t) and this makes the formulation of genuine observations for the non scientist very hard, I think that global warming hysteria is political opportunistic and lacks accomplished scientific basis however to suggest that the atmosphere is not absorbing different things in the advent of industrial society is plainly wrong and it seems at least reasonable to suggest that some change to that atmosphere will occur. What and when I don’t know but I think, to look at the flaws in the negative conjectures, it would be foolish indeed to compromise our societies in very real ways to try and mitigate a disaster which in all probability may not even come, having said that the chance needs to be explored and I can thing of no greater restraint on that than the sensationalist and threatening grand standing of the Al Gore crew and the EU, Global Kyoto? Global Marximoto if you ask me.

I would not ascribe the hand of God to anything; I merely humbly try my best to get saved, as my Bible (a book won with blood from the hands of the tyranny you defend) says, mock on.

  26. Oh and last one from me here, Mahons my Dear (I’m no longer sure if your Male or Female after the PMS remark) I can see your upset by my professed love of the lay roman clergy, indeed is it not ridiculous to say you love people when you deride something they hold dear ? seems reasonable…..but no, let me explain it to you like this ,if you love a friend who takes up cigarettes, you continue to love them even though they poison themselves, it does not mean you must respect and love the manufacturers.

but fair enough I meant you no offence, I genuinely believe that you have been sorely deceived and I offered you my opinion, it has definitely provoked you, (and your ‘off the cuff’ personal remarks belie that this was the effect and that’s why you adopted the, unfortunate, aloof tone.) but you know what they say, the truth hurts.

  27. Juan – while you are looking for a sense of humor donor allow me to put you fears to rest – I am a male of the species. The PMS line was one of the jokes you didn’t get.

I do enjoy your views since we haven’t seen such sentiments on this side of the ocean in nearly a century. Like the Model T Ford or a butter churn, your dated hatred is interesting to see on display, but no longer practical.

  28. What hatred man?

The hatred of lies and deceit? guilty !

The hatred of subservience and madness? guilty !

The hatred of you or anyone or any creed in the merits that you attach to it? Not guilty!

(In the same way that I’ll talk to anyone about their beliefs, including radicals and racists, providing they are not inflicting violence on people)

Your tone reminds of the Islamic clerics on bbc, all questions and criticisms are " hatred" whether they are motivated by this or not, they exploit this line to stifle comment on the very real and terrible flaws in their system, as Rome once did with hellish violence). Regrettably from the proud Catholics position, I believe in free speech and am prepared to fight to the death for your right to offend me, and me you. So don’t try to play the sectarian hatred card, I don’t hate you or even the pleasure you take in your religion, I hate a system of superstition that denies the gospel, and I love my hard won right to say this freely, if you cannot tell the difference between criticism and hate, or if you pretend you cant to make silly allegations, I actually feel very sorry for you.

It must be that notorious American Humour, which yes I fail to get; I have raised the odd laugh on occasion if it means anything to you, much to the displeasure of E Young and D Vance on one occasion…………

"your dated hatred is interesting to see on display" – you see there you go again, my hatred of a practice does not constitute a hatred of you, you are practising hatred by defaming the person and community rather than the stance, you big hate monger you. And as for my ‘hatred’ or in truth ‘faith’, if you think it’s a thing of the past you really, really need to get out of New York State. So again – my opinion on religious flaws – not hatred. You’re belittling personal comments and attachment of negative terms – probably hatred.

And that’s that from me for real this time.

Chin up Mahons, its not as if I intend to impose my opinions on you, as the official pronunciations of the man you believe to be Gods spokesperson on earth would do to me.

Papal bull 675 I think, its one of the six hundreds, they used to read it out firing cannons for a more stimulating effect………

  29. Juan, your sentences are pure torture to read. I would suggest more a succinct form of arguement.

Secondly, you are way too serious. Everything I wrote was very tongue in cheek.

Glad to see you are (?) a sceptic of manmade global warming theorists.

  30. Juan- No worries.

  31. you cant paint portrait with stick men Daphine, the philistines said the same of Joyce !

But then i think my structuring is fine :<
we’re not into journalise here surely ?

Well when you talk about slaping people i dont find it funny, but humour is relative, perhaps as i dont get American humour i fail on yours to.

    now THIS is funny :

Osma Bin Laden has been caught Sheep Shagging in wales, his responce in court was that it was IsLam* and we should respect his position.

Islam – his lamb (gettit ?)

    or :

Paddy and Micky are flying down the road in a cortina, the bumps are getting bad so Paddy says," you’d better slow down micky or that bomb under your seat will go off", Micky says, "ach, sure there another one in the boot."

    or :

three men go to heaven and the St. Paul says (one for the catholics here Mahons) " it says in my book you three are IRA men and youve done very bad things, you’ll not be getting in here boys !"

one man says " we dont want in" – but you’ve got ten minutes to get out "

  32. Juan – i read what you wrote and as a (relaxed)catholic fully get what you say when you say ‘I ask you can you not see the madness in this ?’. With you 100% on that one. Your first comment (especially) read like beautiful prose!

  33. But nothing compared to my one liners on the abuse of Livestock by Sheiks eh ? ;>

  34. I like them both the same. I guess one liners are better for a Friday afternoon. Catholics and Sheiks have a lot more in common when it comes to a love of gold!
