We here at ATW have written many times about abortion. Whether you agree with those who wish to stem the figurative tidal wave of abortions or not, the very fact that, in these Isles, it is the Law that abortions are available. The conditions under which abortions may be procured are fairly loosely prescribed, but can be generalised as
- abortions must be carried out in a hospital or a specialised licensed clinic
- two doctors must agree that an abortion would cause less damage to a woman’s physical or mental health than continuing with the pregnancy
UK abortion counselling and procurement services shall shortly be able to advertise on Radio & TV after a change in the rules arranged and promulgated by the Advertising Standards Agency.
Most of these ‘counselling’ services disguise their true intent by stating “This isn’t about all-out adverts for abortion – it’s for post-conception advisory services”. It will be places saying, “Come and chat to us for advice”. Of course, a lot of those organisations will provide terminations.
Now I have maybe stated before that as a mere man, I am drawn to the statement that a woman should be able to control her own body’s reproductive system.
I would maybe modify that position by asking if all the glossy adverts could include the phrase, “You are welcome within our places of business, because we are in business to make a profit, but you should remember that you are going to ask us to kill your unborn child; and premeditated killing has always been classified as murder!”
