Well folks, here we are in August and the year whizzes by! Pleased to say that July saw ATW record new levels of visitors, with a 15% growth on June and our highest figures ever. Very pleased to see the site grow and grow and I wanted to once again express my thanks to all my fellow-writers and to our ever-growing band of readers. I see that some other sites get themselves all excited about entering competitions for "Best Blog" but I really can’t be bothered with any of that. We stand on our own and all I care about is making sure you find ATW worthy of your time. Thanks for stopping by and make sure you keep a-calling! It’s also interesting to look at the political views of those who do visit this site. The poll on the top left hand side of this blog may be unscientific but I guess it does give some insight into the fact that whilst we are unreservedly "Right of Liberal" MANY who visit here have very different views and I’m pleased that they find us foaming at the mouth right wing war-mongers worth a visit! I think it’s good that we have really varied views and long may it continue!

  1. I see that some other sites get themselves all excited about entering competitions for "Best Blog" but I really can’t be bothered with any of that.

Then you won’t be interested in discovering that you were second to Samizdata in the Group Blog section in the prestigious Witanagemot Club awards…but I’ll tell you anyway!!

  2. ONEILL,

So anyway, here’s my acceptance speech!!!

I guess the point I was making is that it’s all about producing the best writing possible and in that regard, I think we’re good.

  3. David,

If they call that a ‘prestigious’ club, – well the Groucho Marx remark applies….

  4. A Witanagemot Club award ! WOW Does it get any better than that .

But seriously, well done David , long may ATW continue to spin it’s unique threads on the WWW.

  5. Not wanting to rain on your parade, folks, but is it just possible that the increase in visits is due to the 54 regular commentators getting more garrulous?

  6. It’s not rocket science. I counted those who sent good will messages on David Vance’s fathers’ death, and reckoned they would be the regulars.

  7. I think DV is able to measure the all-important ‘unique visitors’ number rather than just pure hits.

  8. DSD,

Absolutely! Whilst those who come and talk are wonderful, there are many many more who come and read, and you might be a little surprised as to who some of this number include, but certainly MANY mainstream UK journalists and politicians! How do I know? They tell me!!!
