Regular readers will know I am no fan of Cameron and his CINOS. Here’s another reason why I hold such a view..

“In a claim that will irritate many voters and Conservative MPs, David Cameron’s spokesman said there was no popular support for a referendum on Britain’s position within the EU . Resolving the eurozone crisis was a greater priority, she said.

Really?

So when polls show 80% of respondents demanding a poll NOW, they are all wrong and the Prime Minister’s spokesman right? Seriously?

I have said it before and I will say it again – Cameron will destroy British Conservatism and guarantee the return of Labour in 2015. He is arrogant, detached from the will of the people, and he governs as a liberal. That is a formula for meltdown.

  1. The fact that this – very serious – issue seemingly can’t filter up from the constituencies shows a serious flaw in the British system of representation and government.

  2. Indeed. I think it is happening in many countries where the politicians chose to ignore the wishes of the people. One could claim democracy is failing.

  3. The problem is people are against the EU when asked but it is not a political priority for them when it comes to choosing a government.

  4. The fact is that a part completely committed to removing the UK from the EU stood in the last election. They got 3% of the vote. People don’t like the EU but they don’t really care about it either.

  5. Also 80% don’t want to hold a poll now. 49% want to hold a poll now with 33% wanting one at some point in the future. So, technically, considering only 49% want a poll now, it could be said that the British people don’t want a poll now.

Pure sophistry and incorrect at that.

    49% want a poll now.
10% want a poll in some indeterminate time frame.
    10% don’t know
1% don’t care as along as she has big tits, the footy is on and they have a beer in their hand.
30% are in fact you Seamus and you Luuuuurrrrrvvvveeee the EU.

So in fact clearly we ARE the majority. Now where’s my beer…and have you SEEN the jubs on that!

  7. Actually I’m opposed to the European Union. I just don’t like referendums either.

  8. 1% don’t care as long as the footy is on and they have a beer in their hand.

I would say for English males that the figure is far higher than that, probably greater than 50% and explains why we are in the mess we’re in now. For females, use Corrie, Easties, X-Factor, etc. to get the same result.
