As you know, it is US and UK Government policy to install the Taliban in the Government of Afghanistan. Obama and Cameron have stated this as a shared aim. So, what kind of people are our soldiers giving up their lives for?

Seventeen civilians have been beheaded by Taleban insurgents in southern Afghanistan, government officials say. The bodies of two women and 15 men were found by the side of a road in Musa Qala district. Meanwhile, 10 Afghan army soldiers have been killed in a Taliban attack in the same province. In eastern Afghanistan, two foreign soldiers – believed to be Americans – have been shot dead by a rogue Afghan soldier. The bodies of the 17 civilians, which were discovered on Monday morning, were said to show signs of beatings. Some had gunshot wounds.

And WHY?

The district governor said the men had gathered to listen to music and watch the women dance when they were attacked.

This barbarism is so grotesque that it is hard to say much more about it OTHER than we should not be in this wretched hell hole unless we have clear war aims. We don’t. In fact our only war aim is to muddle along and hope some of these savages deign to enter the Government. That’s surreal. Time to get OUR soldiers out and let these savage goat herds do what they want to each other. If they threaten us, just drone bomb them into eternity.

  1. Time to get OUR soldiers out and let these savage goat herds do what they want to each other. If they threaten us, just drone bomb them into eternity.

That they are as a whole the equivalent of backward goat-herders is agreed. Given that, how can they threaten us?

  2. No no.

Afghanistan is the front line. If our soldiers weren’t being killed there we’d have to fight the war on terror at home.

That’s what politicians say and I certainly believe them.

  3. “Given that, how can they threaten us?”

They live amongst us! that’s where the threats lay.

Was it only yesterday that an immigrant NHS doctor was reported as seeing action as a ‘rebel’ Al Quaeda fighter in Syria.

When questioned he remarked that his experience there of ‘trauma treatment’ would be so useful when he returned ‘home’, to the UK.

Does he know something that our politicians don’t?

  4. Colm,

I wonder what sort of leave he had from his duties at the NHS – do you think it migh have been a Sabbatical?

  5. My idea is we either crush the goat herds into the dirt OR leave. There is no will for the former, so our soldiers die in vain, which is AWFUL

  6. That we have been ‘at war’ in that part of the world for some one hundred and fifty years, of and on, and in between, others, namely the Russians have also done battle with them, and they too, have beeen sent home, with the proverbial ‘tail-between-their-legs’.

What is it about the place that so fascinates our politicians? is it something hypnotic, or perhaps just sheer bloody mindedness having been soundly beaten on several occasions, they just have to have another go.

It so happens that last month it was the anniversary of one of the more bitter battles which ended in a complete masssacre.

The above should take you to the very moving poem of The Berkshire Eleven, a small sample of which I enclose below:-

Twas at the disastrous battle of Maiwand, in Afghanistan,
    Where the Berkshires were massacred to the last man;
On the morning of July the 27th, in the year eighteen eighty,
Which I’m sorry to relate was a pitiful sight to see.

Ayoub Khan’s army amounted to twelve thousand in all,
And honestly speaking it wasn’t very small,
And by such a great force the Berkshires were killed to the last man,
By a murderous rebel horde under the command of Ayoub Khan.

The British force amounted to about 2000 strong in all,
    But although their numbers were but few it didn’t them appal;
They were commanded by General Burrows, a man of courage bold,
But, alas! the British army was defeated be it told.

I know it is just coincidence, but there is a small convenience store not far from here, and the name of the proprietor is…..well! – you don’t need me to elaborate do you?

As habitual losers it probably seems quite right that it is our turn to be ‘occupied’, and I’m sure that applies equally to religious wars as well as political ones. Pity or ‘leaders’ are just too stupid, or delusional, to realise it.

  7. All accounts show that the majority of Afghans oppose the Taliban. They presumably oppose this act also.

But in that part of the world, if you won’t take up arms, your beliefs don’t mean anything.

  8. ‘if you won’t take up arms, your beliefs don’t mean anything.’

Are you sure that it just in that part of the world?

“They forget, in short, that there has ever been a category of human experience called the Enemy. And that, before 9/11, was what had happened to us. The very concept of the Enemy had been banished from our moral and political vocabulary. An enemy was just a friend we hadn’t done enough for — yet. Or perhaps there had been a misunderstanding, or an oversight on our part — something that we could correct. And this means that that our first task is that we must try to grasp what the concept of the Enemy really means.

The Enemy is someone who is willing to die in order to kill you. And while it is true that the Enemy always hates us for a reason — it is his reason, and not ours.”

  9. I get the sad impression that Afghanistan is one of thos places that will always be plagued by such brutal imposing ideological and tribal violence and that attempts by outside powers to develop anything appraching a balanced liberal democracy will always be doomed to failure. I see no reason to keep our soldiers there.

  10. Now now, don’t be racist. We must treat their culture as the equal of our own. Maybe it’s a good thing to behead all those involved in the Eurovision song contest.

Then again…could be all this multi culti stuff is a crock. Could be they are just evil savages.
