Clint Eastwood was at the Republican Convention.

Dirty Harry had the temerity to poke fun at President Obama in a hilarious skit with an empty chair and the Obama toadies are going crazy over it: over 25 stories already, stories describing Eastwood as “sad” and worse.  Eastwood wasn’t sad. He was great, and he brought down the house with laughter.

From Big Hollywood:

“For four long years we’ve waited, hoped and prayed that some young comic would break free of the politically correct demands of The State and mock Obama the way all presidents and all people in power should be mocked. But for four long years (with a few exceptions) all we’ve seen instead are cowardly toadies of The State: Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, David Letterman, Chris Rock, the cast of “Saturday Night Live”…

…Eastwood hit Obama in every sweet spot we’ve been waiting for him to get hit on: The incompetence; the lies; the empty, pretentious rhetoric; the inexperience; and that roaring blowhard of a moron Obama chose to be a heartbeat away.

Oh, and the empty chair. Other than an empty suit, there is no sharper metaphor….”

Like Dirty Harry says: we own this country and it’s time to let Obama go.

  1. Patty,
They commented on this episode with Clint Eastwood here on BBC Radio 4 this morning. They said (agonisingly-because they are as “star struck” re HollyWood Mega Stars as the rest of us; they just don’t like to admit it) that it was somewhat “rambling”.

They then went on to say that the Republican nominee,
    “the Mormon Mitch Romney*”
struck a chord with many Americans because although many Americans like President Barack Obama as a person, they feel he has not achieved the hope and change he campaigned on.
Personally I have no problem with that.

Whatever Barack’s political philosophy and how he got there, I believe an intelligent, educated and unbiased black/yellow/brown or even white candidate is as capable of safeguarding the future prosperity and security of America
(And Western Europe-“pretty please we’re sorry we bad mouthed you!”) as anyone else.

Again American ATWers display their love for the minutiae rather than the important underlying politics, when they rally round the flag..
(Hell! Any damn flag as long as it looks vaguely Americain!)
And get all weepy and emotional over the stupid stuff rather than the meat ‘n pertaters heart of the matter.

    Here in the
    (yawn) UK,
    WE (yaaawn) have our own
    (Yaaaawn!) problem with apuf -apith-apath…
    Hell, INDIFFERENCE
    and
    POWERLESSNESS
when it comes to politi-pola-poly tics.
    Yawnnnnnnnnn..

  2. Patty,
    You mean “OK” as in
    you don’t understand my logic
    or
    OK as in what………?
    I won’t be offended.
    I’m a big boy 🙂
    Say it!

    Come on girl,
If you think I’m off base, have the courage to say so.
    “OK”
is not worth the time and thinking I put into my comment.

I had you down as a thinker.

  3. Phantom,
if you haven’t figured out yet that ladies can be as intelligent and insightful as men, then that would explain why you spend so much time on your bike….
    🙂

  4. I am not speaking of ” ladies “.

    You generalize wildly.

I speak of someone with a known body of Palinite work on these pages.

  5. I can think of one and only one time when she thought outside the talking points over the past years.

Hey, lets start talking about a universal ATW summit. Who wants to set it up?

  6. Hey, lets start talking about a universal ATW summit. Who wants to set it up?

LOL — Let’s hope old Agit doesn’t throw another wobbly. It was terribly awkward last time!

  7. Ehem

Twice he made anti-war cracks, like telling Obama to just bring the troops home. Watching the strained faces in the crowd was a pleasure indeed. Chis Christie looked like a balloon waiting to burst. Wolf Blitzer was absolutely livid afterwards. I’ve never seen him so opinionated. Apparently, Clint had tossed his vetted speech.

Clint Eastwood must some mad kook.

  8. Probably a bit outside most people’s frame of reference but it reminds me of when Twink (a washed up Irish cabaret type) wandered on to the stage at the Fine Gael Ard Fheis(Convention) dressed as a cleaner making “off-the-cuff” quips about the other political parties.

It was as funny as the Ebola virus.

  9. I thought CE wasn’t good at all, jaded and with no punch. He just wasn’t funny. You can see better on TV any night.

  10. I am so glad , Phantom , that you mentioned Palinites for it gives me chance to
say that when Romney fails to beat Obama , then sense should prevail and Palin
be prepared for 2016 . You know it makes sense .

  11. “LOL — Let’s hope old Agit doesn’t throw another wobbly. It was terribly awkward last time! ”
    Garbage.
Just because I don’t like dogs-and especially Communist LAP dogs, doesn’t mean I found it embarrassing.
Agit8ed has more in common with the Troll than some of the smart ass sophisticates and hand wringers and wannabe intellectuals who post on ATW.

    Don’t like that?
    Tough.
I am what I am and I suffer the consequences (ie guilt feelings) when someone shows me I’m wrong.

There hasn’t been many occasions so far; and when shown to be in the wrong I think I have apologised every time.
My old mother always told me that someone who truly speaks their mind never has many friends..
Life has taught me that is true, but then I think “Well, how many people do I WANT to share a wooden box with anyway?”

So if it wasn’t for my desire to be a better Christian, I could care less what prats like Tarasov might have to say.

And if ANY of you wants to take me on again about organising an ATW summit,
well I haven’t seen many of you good old boys volunteering.

Which you could do, even from America.
But maybe you’re too busy writing or taking cycle rides…
    Wow!
I hope I ain’t getting up any body’s nose here.
    Wanna discuss summit arranging?

    Here I am…..

  13. Palin has been sidelined by the adults in the party, where she will remain for the rest of her life.

She has a certain cachet among the yee haw set which should keep her in eggs and biscuits going forward.

  14. we own this country

No you don’t! The problem is that you don’t know that you don’t own your country. In fact, the general public of the US own even less of their country than people like me own of mine. The bottom 50% of the US own less than 1% of their nation which is to say, effectively none of it.

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/19/households-wealth-american-1-percent_n_1687015.html

The top 1% reportedly own over 35% but that is based on internal wealth and doesn’t include the huge amount of wealth taken out of our countries and placed ‘offshore’ – circa $21trillion as currently ‘known’ with how many times that being ‘unknown’? Maybe Rumsfeld should make a speech about that!

  15. I just now watched the speech

It was two minutes too long but otherwise wasnt bad

    It was performance art

–The top 1% reportedly own over 35%–

Its none of your business what they own. What part of ” own ” don’t you understand?
