Delightful news: the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant. I’m sure I speak for all associated with ATW in offering most hearty congratulations.

I notice that the Duchess will be attended to at King Edward VII’s Hospital, which describes itself as “London’s foremost private hospital”.

So it’s no communist slaughterhouse for them.

  1. Fantastic news for a lovely couple.

Wish them all the best for the future, and the rest of our Royal Family.

  2. Best of luck.
Although I heard she’s already checked in somewhere suffering from “morning sickness” – so no stiff upper lip there.

This will make the queen, if she lives to see the birth, a great grandmother.
I reckon she’s going to retire on 21 December and we’ll see Charles III.

Well when the tax payer is picking up the tab why not.

  4. they say she carries twins….

as for the Queen Mum she’ll only retire when they lay her in her grave.

  5. If the taxpayer is funding it, then it’s socialized medicine every bit as much as the NHS is. Maybe those who spend their lives bellyaching against socialized medicine in Britain can have some bloodcurdling posts against this theft of taxpayer’s money.

This is ” one system for me, and another for thee “, kind of like comparing the Obama in Chief / US House / US Senate as compared with the rest of us lower classes.

The Queen Mum died 10 years ago. As for Noel’s prediction, there is more chance of the Mayan end of world prophecy to come true on Dec 21st than the Queen retiring.

  7. excuse me for mixing my honorifics Colm I am after all just a Colonial and not versed in the vagaries of Royaldum….

    but you caught my drift

  8. Delightful news indeed.

Even more delightful: my favourite niece is also pregnant with her first child.

  9. Troll has mixed feelings about the royals…

“Do you VOTE asshole, Do the people you vote for make the laws asswipe, or are you nothing but a peasant living at the whim of some inbred that lives in a Castle?”

  10. Troll — It’s not an attack on you, it’s just quoting your own words back to you.

  11. Troll – given him credit for the Hoist with your own petard moment. it may give you pause when ranting.

Anyway, I am glad for this young couple, will be even harder raising kids in that glaring spotlight and I wish them well.

  12. no you pull something out of context from 2 years ago and claim it’s not some sort of attack?

First you had to do search to find a comment that I made about royals, that implies a motive, and a derangement.

    I simply ask why?

Your inner you is showing points to the fact that you are a bile filled person with some sort of underlying need to strike out.

I did nothing to give you cause to scour for some words of mine to toss out, yet you took the time and effort to do so,

You are motivated by your own inner inadequacies.

  13. Mahons

Where have I ever backed away from being Hoisted with my own petard?

    Just curious what evoked it.

  14. LOL!!

Calm down. I just thought it was a funny quote, and chimed ill with your present enthusiasm for the royals. I’m always pulling quotes out at people, it’s fun, it’s not an attack.

Talk a chill pill, Trollio. 🙂

  15. Troll – The site is A Tangled Web, though sometimes it feels like it should be named A Troll’s Web. I don’t think it was really an attack, but rather a good-spirited and fairly comic pointing out of your tendency to, shall we say, overstate your case at certain times. In any event I am sure you wish the royals the best as do we all.

  16. Yes, just realised I haven’t wished them well yet. I do of course. Must be an exciting time for them.

  17. a the web of my mind is always more tangled than anything in print.

    Petr

even I can wish people well. even I don’t always pull the sheet off of people.

    Mahons
I was playing nice…. I may take the air out of the room more often than I should. We all have our we problems… I believe Hyde said that.

  18. Mahons,

“…will be even harder raising kids in that glaring spotlight…”

They could always choose to opt out. Nothing to stop them. But that would be to forego all those oodles of free money from the rest of us 😉

Thank you for wishing my lovely niece well!

  19. //As for Noel’s prediction, there is more chance of the Mayan end of world prophecy to come true on Dec 21st than the Queen retiring.//

Colm, Charles being crowned King would be the end of the world for some of our fellow commenters, and my bet is the Mayans were thinking of them.

  20. Do you think Charles is a Mayan stalking horse?

There’s a joke there waiting about Camilla, if you’re quick…

  21. I’ve just read that any child born to this couple will, regardless of sex, be sure to reign some day (unless the republican majority in Belfast spreads to the mainland), since the law giving priority to male children has been scrapped.

So surely granting equal treatment to females even among royalty is already the end of the world for Pete Moore 🙂

  22. Noel,

I have a feeling that by the time that child is old enough to “reign over us” the monarchy will have been consigned to history.

I certainly hope so. That pitiful charade has gone on much too long.

  23. Centuries more to come of our wonderful Royal Family, who are an asset to our nation and an inspiration to so many.

  24. Logical Unionist,

Your embarrasing forelock-tugging dovetails so well with your flag fetish 🙂

  25. Indeed LU

I hope that I don’t get to see this child become monarch but only because I want Illiam to live long and prosper!

The Queen already has two grandchildren of course as Anne got to be granny before Charles gets to be granddad or grandpapa as I think William and Harry called him Papa.
