  1. Who told you that ” the left ” loves Apple?

Apple has been criticized very heavily for their labor practices in China over the past couple of years. And it wasn’t the Republicans doing the criticizing.

Steve Jobs was criticized for this and for other things during his lifetime. They protested his speech at Stamford.

And Rush Limbaugh and loads of other righties publicly use Apple products.

  2. It’s a collection of the various mantras spouted by poor little privileged liberalists who rail against Mom and Dad, and have no understanding of why the rest of the world want what they so vehemently reject..

  3. Obviously, Phantom, you didn’t follow the Occupy movement very carefully.

Occupy had a whole “communication” tents set up with Apple ware. And it seemed like every other day that an Occupy protestor was complaining about theft of their stuff from their tents, most notably their Apple pads, pods, notebooks.

And this is a small tip of the Leftist-Loves-Apple iceberg. The booming sale of Apple products is not just to Republicans, you know. Ever look at television journalist? Televsion journalist are 95% Leftist based on political party affiliation and political donations and they all use Apple products.

And if the Left is not using an ipod for portable music, what are they using?

  4. I would happily exchange my Apple iMac for an 18″ well specced quality laptop running Windows XP…

  5. Stupid is as stupid does, Phantom, and saying it’s “stupid” to point out that the Left loves Apple because someone on the Left wrote a report about China is a bullying tactic.

    Use your common sense, please.

  6. Stupid is a subject that you’re quite the expert on.

But there is zero evidence that Applephilia is a lefty trait.

Apple fans are those who will spend more for a better product, lefty or righty.

  7. Quite ggod parody of the thick end of the left of the spectrum.

Equivalant parody of the thick end of the right of the spectrum could be devised.

  8. “And Rush Limbaugh and loads of other righties publicly use Apple products.”

The Left and Right seem to agree on Apple products. So?

Here, I’ll explain the poster to you, Phantom: the Left doesn’t approve of free markets and the idea of wealth creation through “obscene” profits. But they love Apple! Conclusion: the Left’s opinion are hypocritical and in a rational world make little sense.

  9. Phantom

I don’t think the Apple point is about the left being more Into Apple than the right but that they are so into it despite the “all corporations are evil”.

  10. LOL. You claim that I know “stupid” …..and in other threads, to lament my lack of debate objectivity (when will I ever, EVER compliment Obama, for example)

and yet, here, you refuse to comprehend the message of a political cartoon because it accurately critiques your side….

  11. Who on the left doesn’t approve of free markets?

You denseniks who see no difference between Pol Pot Obama and say mahons are uniquely unqualified to speak on the Left. You don’t know what it is.

  12. Apple products look smart, shiny and sophisticated. Apple are seen as a minority company catering for the cool, discerning sophisticated professional, as opposed to Microsoft who sell to the masses.
Who wants to be “one of the masses” when for a few hundred dollars more you can be seen as “hip”?

  13. Aileen – A parody of the right end of the spectrum has already been contrived. It is called ATW.

  14. “Pattycakes
    I agree with 4 of 6
    Now shush”

Phantom: You criticize others for acting out and yet you hypocritically insult me by “shush” and “Pattycakes”

I think you behave in a bullying fashion and yes, I think this behavior is fairly typical of the Progressive Left.

Your love affair with “debate” extends only to those who agree with you.

Your love affair with “civility” extends only to yourself.

  15. There’s a layer of stupidity here not yet mentioned.

During the Occupy Wall Street period there was a similar meme doing the rounds. It was a picture of some protesters with arrows pointing out various gadgets. The implication seemed to be that they were hypocrites because they used devices produced by multi-nationals. This demonstrated a particular lack of thought.

Capitalism doesn’t produce these things; people’s ingenuity did. Capitalism is a barrier to that. It monopolises and commodifies that knowledge.

  16. I am not progressive and I am not Left.

I tend to tradition and I call them as I see them.

Anyone who is always leftist or always rightist is not thinking and should never be listened to.

  17. “Capitalism doesn’t produce these things; people’s ingenuity did. Capitalism is a barrier to that. It monopolises and commodifies that knowledge.”

well, this is a thoughtful sentence and a great place to start for an discussion of Left v Right — topic: “capitalism, good or bad?”

I am going out now but will take this up later I think perhaps in a separate post because it’s a huge topic and the crux of many of our philosophical differences and worth debating.

  18. Here, I’ll explain the poster to you, Phantom: the Left doesn’t approve of free markets and the idea of wealth creation through “obscene” profits. But they love Apple! Conclusion: the Left’s opinion are hypocritical and in a rational world make little sense.

    That makes zero sense.

  19. Petr

Without capitalism you would never have had the creative destruction and the decebtralized knowledge that is the personal computer.

No communist regime would have permitted the development of such a disruptive machine

A machine largely built in its present form by a few strong capitalist personalities like Jobs and Gates. In a noncapitalisr world theywould never have received funding or they would have to get planning permission from some committee. The things would never have been invented.

  20. “Capitalism is a barrier to that. It monopolises and commodifies that knowledge.”

    Petr,
When you went to the Palestinian territories how did you get there?

  21. The PC by its nature is a creative, destructive, disruptive, decentraiized, democratic, and capitalist machine.

    It is all these things.

  22. Mahons

A parody of the right would not tolerate the degree of left commentary allowed here. A parody of the right could be constructed from it, but it itself is not it. 🙂

  23. Capitalism doesn’t produce these things; people’s ingenuity did. Capitalism is a barrier to that. It monopolises and commodifies that knowledge.

    Nonsense.

Capitalism is simply a way of ownership of assets. Because capitalism is private ownership, people can trade, build capital and invest. Capitalism therefore fosters invention.

I present a BMW and a Trabant as evidence.

  24. There is no real argument here – capitalism and its profit motive will always be more inventive and disruptive and fearless in most, not all, things.

Right now, there are entrepreneurs working 90 hour weeks inventing stuff and building companies in the US. No one is doing that in communist places. There is no reason to work hard. You would not be able to profit from your invention, and you would not be allowed to destroy existing compamies.

  25. Mahons, on January 13th, 2013 at 3:42 PM Said:

Aileen – A parody of the right end of the spectrum has already been contrived. It is called ATW.

The Posters on here tend and I say tend to be on the right, but the majority of those that comment are definitely of a left bend.

  26. //the majority of those that comment are definitely of a left bend.//

I’ve got 5 Apple products, so I’m definitely of the far right.

  27. centrists…lol is that what you consider yourself?

Your a leftist Phantom. You wouldn’t know a middle of the road opinion if it bit you in the ass. You saying your a centrist is the same if I said I was.

One very important difference. Those of us on the right hand of the spectrum are honest. We admit that we are biased to our beliefs. Phantom as the perfect example of any leftist believes how he feels is how the majority feels, and therefore he is a centrist.

    You live in bubble Phantom.

  28. Harri
Petr’s probably asleep, but the point I was going to make was that he uses transport designed and built by the Capitalist system so that he can make his grand “Man of the Oppressed Peoples” gestures…

  29. I love apple stuff. I’m still a bit scared of my Mac Book but I love love love my iPad (although it gives me problems posting) and my three iPod nanos and my iPod Touch. I was going to resist the latest iPod but the Bluetooth has beaten me. So I’m getting one next Thursday and Bluetooth headphones and Bluetooth potable speakers (last two not apple). Hoping that my Bose system has Bluetooth so I can use the headphones with it.

  30. Or, he (Petr) uses transport designed and built by himself .. being a rather sturdy pair of sandals made of Hemp 😉

And then of course, when it comes to the question of that rather large body of water , he merely walks on it, what with being so righteous and all that, it should be a dodddle.

  31. Aileen

I know what you’re speaking about with Macbook Pro

I am surprised that some pretty fundamental Apple products – Ibooks for example – don’t work on the Macbook. That goes completely against the Icloud / use over all devices principle

    Troll

How many elections do you have to lose until you realize that it is you who are outside the PA / Northeast / USA mainstream? It is you who are in a frightened, shrinking, un self-aware bubble.

Obama and his Democrats have won two straight elections. They are who Middle America wants. I am slightly to the right of that. You need to stop talking and start thinking.

  32. Bush won two straight elections, also so did Clinton and Regan. out of the 90 Million that voted Obama won by 4.

You look at things from a slanted perspective just look at what you typed.

the PA / Northeast / USA mainstream

that is a very narrow slice, go to drudge right now and look at the red and blue map of the headline. It might give you a better grasp, but I doubt it. You egocentric. Your views are not mainstream. They may dominate where you live and grew up but NY is not mainstream.

  33. Apple is bell telephone of today. Every house has some Apple product just like everyhouse at one time had a phone.

  34. Troll,
I respect that Apple make clever products. I know that there are old’ns of my vintage that are really into technology and what computers can do.
I am not one of them.
It is enough for me that I can browse the web, do research, send emails listen to music and play a few simple games.
Otherwise I work in the garden, in the garage, at our Church, have folk around for meals and read books.
It worries me when I see so many people – especially young people, wandering around with earphones in and tapping away at phone/pad/pod/tablet keyboards. I think it alienates people from each other.

  35. The idea that the left loves Apple is nonsense. Apple makes billions and pays no tax anywhere. It has been denounced for this, but only by the left. And it employs cheap labour in Chinese factories.

  36. The Troll, on January 13th, 2013 at 6:46 PM Said:
    we are becoming the borg

Troll, did I not say ‘Resistance is futile’

  37. Troll

I have a five year old ipod which was a presennt but I hardly ever use it to listen to music. I have a pc and laptop, both Dell, and a Blackberry Playbook tablet. My wife is an Apple groupie, but not me.

  38. Troll

George Washington won two straight elections, but that is not terribly relevant today.

Your fellow Pennsylvanians, including the vast Philadelphia and Pittsburgh suburbs, love and support Obama.

I told you this before the election – many yard signs and bumper stickers for Obama, very few for Romney.

How can you tell us what America thinks when you have no idea what Pennsylvania thinks?

You used to live in Philadelphia, very recently. If you think that the successful people in Philadelphia or its suburbs are ” hard left ” in any way, you are insane and do not know your middle America neighbors.

  39. oh so history and reality start with Obama?

Romney did not motivate the base yet he still got 60,931,959 47.2% of the votes and Obama received 65,899,557 51.1% of the votes.

Yet you claim this vast mainstream dominance. To anyone those numbers are pretty damn right down the middle.

When you add in the fact that 10 Million LESS voted for Obama than in 08, and 6 Million less for Romney than even McCain you can’t claim any true majority.

Yes Obama won, but in no way does an almost 50/50 split give him the mainstream. If the country was as left as you describe the Democrats would have swept the house. Instead everything stayed the same.

As with so many things because you only know people that voted for Obama that means you are mainstream. You’re not and the proof is in the numbers

  40. Come on Peter – who gives Bono his money? The woman in the picture is U2’s fanbase.

  41. The number that Obama carried Obamaville Pennsylvania by, twice?

I’m beginning to think that you voted for Obama yourself.

  42. isn’t it amazing how someone will ignore the whole picture as to not upset their reality?

    Bubbleboy!

  43. i live in an area represented by a conservative Republican congressman.

And you live in a state that voted for Obama not once, but twice.

  44. Actually Troll the Democrats won the popular vote in the House elections. The only reason they didn’t win the House was because the Republicans gerrymandered it.

  45. Congressman Peter King is from Nassau County NY

My representative is Congressman Michael Grimm, who represents Staten Island and Bay Ridge, two of the last conservative areas in NYC

  46. you seem to miss most of what is said to you Phantom.

Yes I live in a Democrat State. Yet everyone I know except my sister votes Republican if they vote. Do I believe my views represent the Mainstream NO. My views on most topics are considerably extremist by most standards. Yet even I am not a rightwing extremist. I am Pro-Choice, I support Civil Unions, I am Catholic yet disagree with a large portion of the Church and I am NOT a supporter of the Christian right.

I am fanatical on Guns, Equality, and right and wrong. I am a Constitutional originalist, a shit hoarder, and an individualist.

My opinion represent a group that you refuse to acknowledge exist. I understand your view as you point out I grew up surrounded by it. I also see the economic, spiritual, and familial destruction that it has wrought.

Look at yourself. Obviously successful, well traveled, yet you lack the primary reason that all men have to exist. A Family. Where is your wife? Where are your Children? If you are gay Where is your significant other? and why if that’s the case haven’t you adopted?

You miss the point of life. You are blind to the destruction that has been wrought by the philosophies you support.

    I pity you.

  47. Grim is a damn good man, I don’t believe you ever voted for him.

Michael Grimm voiced support for “security-based situational awareness training”, including how to spot suspicious people, when to run for an exit, and how to keep guards at close range. Grimm also said congressmen should consider carrying firearms.

although he was supported by the Tea Party and took their money and endorsement, as well as Sarah Palins he then turned his back and refused to Caucus with the Tea Party.

So endorsed by your favorite candidate Palin, in support of people carrying guns and you expect us to believe this man is your ideal candidate?

  48. //everyone I know except my sister votes Republican//

Every family has its white sheep.

  49. LOL

She is also the President of one of the States Largest Teachers Unions.. the shame of it all…

  50. Troll

There is the tendency to get personal and ultra-nasty here. You exhibit it more than all others here combined, almost always for no reason at all, as in the above.

This has been observed by others in two recent off line conversations.

You are very evil and brave when typing hatred into a keyboard- hoping that the children of other contributors here get blown up, etc.

I’d like to see how brave you are in person, without one of your guns.

  51. Troll — You would throw one almighty tantrum if someone made similar nasty comments about you.

  52. Civility for me but not for thee?

I don’t think your personal life should be subject to analysis and critique, Phantom. At the end of the day, those who have no personal relationship with you have no real knowledge of what you really do, if you are married etc.

And I think calling Troll stupid and evil is out-of-bounds and destructive.

How about we just don’t get personal? period. end of story. Personal insult is boring. pointless and mean.

  53. Phantom

everything is personal. It’s called life. You make statements and judgements of people on here every day. What you and others have said to Patty is disgraceful.

You don’t view the bile you spew out as evil, yet when judgement is passed on you it is evil. You are very thin skinned.

I asked you where is your family. I didn’t condemn, but yes I did and do judge.

You have no family. Conventional on non-conventional, you have no stake in the future.

How is the observation of that foul or evil? Where is the hatred in an honest fair question, or in an honest observation?

Look at your response, do you refute my position? NO you whine and threaten.

I’d like to see how brave you are in person, without one of your guns.

You then have the balls after saying I’m evil and threatening to as much as challenge me to a fight, with out my guns of course acting like I would shoot an unarmed man.

You are an idiot. You want to meet next time you come down to visit the family let me know.

    Name the time.

  54. Petr

I put my personal life out here everyday. I have no secrets, and no shame. The bile that has been spewed at me on these pages has been worst than any other has received.

So boo hoo, my question was not an attack. It was an observation. Phantom has no stake in anything but himself.

  55. Noel

Concerning your link. The story is about the problem in and around Temple Hospital in Philadelphia. Temple sits in North Philly. Probably one of the most dangerous intercity regions in the world. Every third street corner is an open drug market. The two parent family is less than 10%, the dropout rate is over 90%, the unemployment rate is over 60%. 99% of the homicides are drug related, black on black crimes.

Those holding guns in that area except for cops are people with Criminal records who shouldn’t own them. 85% of Philly’s violent crime is committed by individuals that have over 3 previous felonies.

Among America’s largest cities, Philadelphia’s homicide rate is the worst. Guns are the weapons of choice, with more than 80% of homicides committed with a firearm, according to the most recent police statistics. African-Americans make up 85% of the victims

“Statistics suggest that as a young, black man, you have a greater chance of being shot and killed in Philadelphia than you would have if you were a soldier serving in the conflicts in Afghanistan or Iraq,” Charles said. “That’s absurd to me.”

Despite the daily gun violence plaguing American cities like Philadelphia, Chicago or New Orleans, it’s the mass shootings at a school or a theater or a public event — like the tragedies in Newtown, Aurora and Tucson — that trigger outrage and a serious, nationwide discussion on gun violence.

“The tragedy of the parents isn’t greater in Newtown than that of a parent of someone who was shot elsewhere,” Charles said, expressing sadness for the lives lost in the school shooting. “At the end of the day, their kids aren’t coming home, and there’s no way to compare that anguish.

  56. aslo Noel the situation in North Philly is the direct result of liberal policies on, The Family, Drugs, Education, and Crime the story you link to are the results of the progressive left on American Society

  57. Phantom

I state it again since you have no family of your own and no stake in the future you have no care to the consequences of what the policies and those that support them have wrought.

Noels link provides you the example of where you beliefs lead.

It is you and what you support that is evil and vile.

  58. If anyone is offended by my personal observations of Phantom and his lack of skin in the game I apologize to them, and for crushing what was a good thread.

I do not apologize for my observations of or, in judgement of him.

I also expect but I am sure will never receive a retraction of his threat to my person.

I’d like to see how brave you are in person, without one of your guns.

  59. I googled “Temple Philadelphia” and got only these images of a great looking place.
Not a slum in sight (some nice leggy girls further down, though)

    Must be a big place.

  60. Nobody here on ATW is evil, but there is a lot of simplistic and automated commentary from the right , those who do not think outside of their rigidly controlled boxes and yes I do mean Troll and Patty mainly. They are both like programmed robots and the idiotic cartoon above about ‘lefties’ says more about them than it does about the left.

  61. Colm: I wholeheartedly disagree with you.

I used to be on the Left – voted for Al Gore even. Now I am on the RIght.

No amount of bullying or shaming by you can change a reasonable argument and so far, I don’t think the Left is making many reasonable arguments in support of their Marxist redistributionist policies.

All I hear are shaming tactics and bullying.

Please note that “compassion” and “well meaning intentions” are not a reasonable arguments.

  62. The Apple reference used to be true but not so much now…when my daughter began her first year at an elite prep school in the northeast she was required to have Apple products…Apple partly sponsored WiFi wiring very early on at many universities and prep schools. Quid pro quo.

  63. ahh I am rigid, but Phantom is open minded.

Colm be serious. Look at those that represent the left. Is phantom open on his views on guns? Is Peter open on his views on Global Warming? Are half of you open to your opinions on Irish Terrorism?

No all are locked in their positions. It is called a belief system.

I believe in what I believe, Family, God, Guns and the Law. Everything I comment on is viewed through that perspective.

Each of us hold to our views. I have entered into dialect with others on topics that I don’t agree on without throwing a punch.

You honestly view Patty and Me as the only two ridged in our beliefs? Well than you are less of the observer than I have given you credit for.

  64. Patty

If you think that cartoon is a reasonable argument against the entire left or that my comment is an example of me bullying and shaming then yes you do prove my point about how simplistic you are. You can continue to occupy your brainless Disneyfied world where all are Right wing Conservatives are marvelous intelligent humane sensible superhumans and all lefties are nasty evil hypocritical vile bullys but I know the world and all it’s people are a lot less monochrome and pantomine than that. That cartoon is brainless as are those who applaud it or think it offers any degree of substantial argument.

  65. Apple products are well made.
They come with lots of recommendations and can make you look seriously cool and sexy.

I got a four month old iMac I’d like to get rid of. It’s got the latest Lion King operating system on it..
    Any offers?

  66. //all lefties are nasty evil hypocritical vile bullys but //

Naturally. The left covers everything and everyone from Hilary Clinton to the North Korea regime, all Latin American countries and of course all of western Europe, all fascist dictatorships and all communists. In fact, to be bad automatically means you are Left or a product of the Left.

  67. Troll

Speaking for myself the one BIG difference between me and you and Patty for example is that I am not brainwashed and boxed into a political rigidity. I do not and never will hold to a philosophy because I think it is a good thing to stick to something for ever. There is no honour in conformity or rigidity. I don’t care at all for the words left or right or Conservative or Socialist or Democrat or Republican. Without exception, everything you and Patty say here is anti_obama, anti-Democrat, anti-Left, not because that is what you independently think, but because that is the mantra you feel you must spew. Phantom and Mahons and Daphne amongst the Americans here are much much more independent and free spirited than you 2. You and Patty are by far the most predictable commenters on here. It is as if you are being paid to spout your one track line.

  68. Apple products are well made.
They come with lots of recommendations and can make you look seriously cool and sexy.

I got a four month old iMac I’d like to get rid of. It’s got the latest Lion King operating system on it..
    Any offers?

  69. Colm

but I know the world and all it’s people are a lot less monochrome and pantomine than that

    Except Patty and Troll

  70. Troll

The day you and Patty manage to admit something good that came from the Democrats/the left, and something bad that is associated with Republicans/Conservatives, then I may revise my opinion.

  71. A8
How much would it cost to ship across the pond?

    Dunno.
I’d have to find out from our post office,
    I will enquire tomorrow.

  72. Colm

you are truly blind. I am not anti_obama, anti-Democrat, anti-Left, because that is the mantra I feel I must spew.

    I spew what I believe.

I do not parrot anyone. Find the commentator whose views are mine on all issues or even half. You accuse me of being ridged yet your view of me is ridged.

I am anti the current Left in America because they are antithetical to the foundations that this country was conceived on. God and the Rule of Law. They are “Progressives”

    Look it up.

  73. Troll

Ok I will make some allowances. You are not as bad as Patty, but you need to become more flexible and open minded to reach the broad comprehensive heights achieved by Phantom, Mahons and Daphne 🙂

  74. I praised Obama’s appointment of Petraeus to head the CIA. I was wrong, but I praised Obama for it. Did a nice post on it.

I am Pro-Choice I believe in a Woman’s right to choose. That is NOT a Conservative position in what you would call the rights eyes.

There are two points where I show your view to be flawed.

  75. Troll

I offered you a hand in friendship many times, and you spat on it.

I’ve only had praise for your personal and family life. I took pleasure when you posted photos of two fine children, I felt awful and wished the best when you shared the news of Monica’s tough break, I kicked a few bucks in for Troll Aid.

Any and all criticism I made of you was of your horrifying positions in favor of terror and and the baying for blood in wars that you will not have to fight in.

At no time did I think of criticizing your personal / family life or of your personal space. What would ever be the point of that? How do I know what anyone I’ve never met is like? And you are by all account a good father and a good husband.

I share only some things here because along with the majority of good people, there are some who can never be trusted. Like you. I am not alone in this position- others have become guarded over time on disclosing personal information because of you and some others. It is a shame. It has taken something away for good from a unique, transatlantic space.

  76. Troll

Your 2 points just prove my point that you are not as rigid as Patty !

I am correct in my observations as usual 😉

  77. is Peter open on his views on Global Warming?

    Troll

Are you open on your views on global warming? Open in the sense of looking at evidence as opposed to lapping up Limbaa and the gang at Fox and calling me a liar for reporting on melting glaciers?

  78. I must be way left than all of you because I lurve you all the same…that is to say..not much…;-p Great craic though. Every time you all start taking things too personally…step back and have some fun with it. The world won’t change because of what you post here.

  79. Trying to use bits of personal information gleaned (or guessed at) on here to make spiteful attacks is poisonous. And I’m surprised that Troll is doing it to Phantom, seeing as Pinky made a similarly disgusting attack against Troll just a couple of weeks ago.

It’s also a bit pathetic and doesn’t make the person being attacked look bad.

  80. Is Peter open on his views on Global Warming?… all are locked in their positions. It is called a belief system.

Bad example, Troll. As Peter said above, his position is based on an evaluation of evidence, not a belief system.

  81. ‘The world won’t change because of what you post here.’

    It won’t?

Jaysus, I’ve been wasting so much time….

  82. I have never spat on you.

My question may have seemed harsh but my question was asked in a balanced way. I do not judge a persons lifestyle. Never have. You choose to be single. That is your choice. Choices have consequences.

Your choice of not having children is yours, your reasons why are irrelevant. Yet that choice effects the policies you support.

Now regarding the personal issue. BULLSHIT!

You don’t post your personal info because you lack the balls. Not because of any threat by me.

You have accused me more than once of being a threat. Yet I have NEVER broken the trust of ANYONE on this site. Show us ALL an example of where I have.

You sir are full of shit. You are the one that threatened me, not the other way around.

You are a Liar and a coward who has repeatedly falsely accused me.

  83. Petr
there is no evidence that supports man made global warming. What they tried to pawn off as evidence has been proven to be falsified. It is a religion.

so it is a good example.

  84. “You sir are full of shit. You are the one that threatened me, not the other way around.

You are a Liar and a coward who has repeatedly falsely accused me.”

Yes but apart from that you quite like Phantom don’t you Troll ? 😉

  85. Here’s what I know.

Despite several bitter arguments last year, Phantom cared enough about Troll and his family to generously contribute funds towards their well-being.

Brushing off Troll’s derogatory contempt for his opinions on all issues and childish name calling on every thread, Phantom spoke nothing but kind words about the man over lunch last month.

We all know who the gentleman is in this conversation.

By the way, Troll. I’m quite sure it hasn’t occurred to you, but did you ever stop to think that the man you’re so casually insulting about his private family situation (which is nobody’s business) may have suffered a loss he hasn’t cared to share with this crowd?

You assume much and understand little.

  86. Nobody here should ever comment about anyone elses personal situations because, apart form mainly not knowing a damn thing about each other regulars real lives , it is wrong, it is irrelevent, it is mostly supposition and it is NOT what ATW’s forum is meant to be about.

  87. please explain to me how since it is obvious that I’m so stupid. That asking a person where his family is can be viewed as an attack?

Not having children effects whether or not you care what is left to generations behind you. That was my point, and you all know it.

Good god most people have kids, even those that can’t biologically have them adopt them.

The man took offense because of his own inner demons NOT because oh my I asked him where his personal next generation was.

He could just as easily have said I have nieces or nephews, but know he through a whiney fit and wanted to physically fight.

You people aren’t being honest with your own views. Troll is a bastard he had the nerve to ask about Phantoms family status… oh the horror.

  88. ‘Seime
No no no, don’t lose heart. One more comment might just do the trick’

I would feel heartened by that, had my heartfelt, thought-out arguments, at least caused you to remember how to spell my name…

    🙂

  89. Fine I’m evil.

I am the epitome of everything that is wrong with not only this blog, but the world.

    I bow to my superiors.

  90. Seimi (I can get it right)

I’m drinking Brandy tonight. My fingers take on a life of their own…

  91. ‘Seimi (I can get it right)’

I wish this site would. It’s supposed to be Séimí, but for some strange reason, ATW won’t allow the fada. I reckon it’s cos they’re anti-Irish language.

‘I am the epitome of everything that is wrong with not only this blog, but the world.’

Oh wait. It’s ‘cos of Troll.

  92. please explain to me how since it is obvious that I’m so stupid. That asking a person where his family is can be viewed as an attack?

Troll do you even read what you have written?

You miss the point of life. You are blind to the destruction that has been wrought by the philosophies you support.

Reread, explain how that is not an attack.

  93. You asked about personal and family information for purpose of attack. I hope that I’ve not done that. And don’t expect me to respond to such bad faith questions and insinuations.

If we had met up, I’d have spoken all day about things like that. That’s one of the nice things about some of the summits. There are many good people here.

  94. Daphne makes good points…none of us know….but Phantom is offensive in the “I’m telling you this for your own good” kind of way…it’s annoying as hell. If he has suffered a loss, I apologize for saying it was no wonder he’s single. Sorry Phantom. But he has said some REALLY shitty things to Troll…despite the good things he may have done and said.

  95. I met Phantom. To be honest, I was a bit surprised at how open and interested he is; he is also very much a gentleman of the old school.

By the way, Troll, he is also real BIG!

  96. How nice of mairin to repeat that comment

All of this has a context.

That context includes Troll calling for children to be blown up in trash bin explosions and years of calling all who disagree with him traitors and worse and for mangling arguments so badly that he does not realize that he has actually made te case for the opposing view – and when its pointed out, he does not understand it.

  97. //I apologize for saying it was no wonder he’s single.//

There are many really ugly things said here in the rough and tumble of political/social discussion, but even the worst are not nearly as ugly as this kind of remark.

There is another lady very close to my general political outlook who tries that crap too.
And another who used to, but she was cooled down a bit.

Come to think of it, it’s only women and – Troll……

Troll, is it not time you told us something ..er .. more fundamental about yourself……?

  98. Troll — You could at least have the grace to thank Phantom for throwing you a few quid in a time of need.

  99. but Phantom…you have made several derogatory references about Troll’s work or lack thereof…when you didn’t know what he was doing…your nasty comments may go unnoticed by others…and maybe that’s because you’re a salesman of sorts…and all salesman sell themselves.
I said that again because I wanted to be very clear what I was apologizing for…I.don’t think I’ve said anything that could be characterized as mean-spirited to you other than that…and for that I’m sorry.

  100. Lewd comment from Colm in 3…2…1…..

Give me time, I can’t be on every thread at once you know 🙂

  101. He spits at the ” Democratic ” social safety nets that have aided him in times of need.

These include Unemployment Compensation and very possibly other nets which I support and which the guys he supports despise

He hates those who support guys in his spot and he loves those who despise him and the others in America that fibd themselves in bad economic times

Usually, people fight for those who fightfor them. He has done the opposite. That is the context of any such comments.

  102. ‘Troll — You could at least have the grace to thank Phantom for throwing you a few quid in a time of need.’

Petr – Troll thanked everyone for that, and very humbly too. He shouldn’t have to thank individuals for it. He didn’t ask David to set up TrollAid, and nobody was forced into contributing. Phantom did, and fair play to him, but Troll doesn’t need to now go around thanking each contributor. Also, I don’t think Phantom was looking for a personal show of gratitude when he mentioned it earlier. It was one of a series of examples he gave to try and show that his engagements with Troll here were or are all arguments and attacks.

  103. BTW…I was bothered by Phantom breaching his privilege and contacting me privately, Noel and I made an assumption. in NYC…one can’t be too careful and he seems a bit too eager to make friends. I can hardly make time for people who mean a lot to me let alone for a stranger who wants to meet me with some yahoo. those days are over…;-P

  104. Mairin

I breached no privilege of any kind.

You left an email address at the site, for purpose of communication, and you were communicated with. This should not shock one.

If you don’t want to receive corro at that address, don’t give it out. That’s Security 101. My address here is not my corporate address FFS.

It was you alone who breached a privilege by using a name given in confidence to you, after a very minor critique made by me. Betraying a confidence is very bad karma.

  105. The site (David) required me to leave an email address, Phantom…it was a made-up one…made up for security….you’re the only one who ever used it. You didn’t contact me at my corporate address, Phantom….go back and check. you are wrong again.
My apology is sincere but I am not going to join the click and make it seem as though Troll is the only one at fault. Your name is all over the Internet because of your former Bay Ridge blog…a friend of mine is your neighbor.

  106. Mairin, you attacked Phantom with this very same line of inappropriate bullshit a few weeks back on one of my posts.

I should have called you on it then, but I’m doing it now. I don’t care what you or Troll think of Phantom’s style of debate, you are both completely out of line using his private personal life as a cheap avenue of attack.

It’s a below the belt tactic and I was rather stunned to see you, of all people, stoop so low. And here you are doing it again under the guise of apologizing. Not acceptable.

I have no idea if Phantom’s suffered a loss. We’ve never discussed his personal life or mine. I put it out there because you people don’t know the details of each other’s lives and shouldn’t assume anything. One snide comment on spouses, children or the lack there of could cause a world of unknown hurt.

    Words matter, folks.

  107. Seimi

When one gets a kind donation from someone who they’ve never met it’s nice not to then turn around and make irrelevant and nasty comments about the latter’s family situation, calling them vile and evil.

But like, eh, other than that I couldn’t agree with you more.

  108. Seriously Mairin, you’re pissed at Phantom for emailing you to join him and Mahons for a drink?

    He’s just a nice guy.

  109. Seriously Mairin, you’re pissed at Phantom for emailing you to join him and Mahons for a drink?

Yeah, I don’t get that either.

  110. I’m not pissed. I’m just explaining my actions/reactions. If you think I’m pissed…you ain’t seen nothing yet…;-) Seriously…you’re reading way too much into this.

  111. There was a thread a couple of weeks ago I can’t remember what it was about but mairin used it to make continuous and hysterical attacks on one contributor. It was embarrassing and ludicrously over the top. It said a lot more about mairin than the person being attacked.

  112. The only way I could have seen the email address of anyone here is if they commented on a post written by me. So maiirin commented on one of my posts.

I’ve posted my photo here a number of times. I’ve met many here.

So how is replying to a throwaway email address breaching security? You said before that you could have gotten into trouble by contacting you. How in the name of God could you get into trouble?

And I did not use my real name on Bay Ridge Blog. I went by Phantom. Its still up there – anyone can see.

  113. Petr, don’t get me wrong, I completely agree with you re the nasty comments, but Troll is not subservient to Phantom just because the latter donated to a fund for him, nor should he need to thank him personally for any contribution he may have made to a fund set up by a third party.

Troll will be Troll. I have never agreed with him on anything, other than love for one’s children, but do you honestly expect him to change and adapt his approach to one of his nemesises (nemesisii?) on this site because of that?

  114. I noticed

when Phantom threw that into Troll’s face too…I think he’s the only one to do that. Troll and Phantom’s relationship is symbiotically abusive…that is as far as the Internet can be seen as abusive when moment are just exchanging words.

  115. To finish the thought

I am as public as you can get here

It does not compute to imply that mairin was afraid that I was some stalker. When we had been corresponding for some time. Where she has commented on my posts. When there was a record od conversation, all of it friendly in tone.

    None ofit makes sense

  116. This-

    ‘I don’t know – I’m winging it!’

was, of course, in relation to this-

‘nemesisii ?. Wasn’t she some old Egyptian queen ‘

  117. Colm…hysterical..Not at all. That’s your perception… I think I made a lot of silly comments to show that I thought the conversation was silly….

  118. It was my post, Colm. The whole thread was a complete meltdown, except for the first half when Mairin and Phantom had a lovely, on topic discussion while fending off the idiocies spewed by The Troll & Patty Show.

Then it went bizarre between those two. I don’t get it.

Mairin, I like you. I like your mind and thoughtful, intelligent commentary. I’m not sure why receiving an unexpected email inviting you for drinks with fellow atw commenters caused such negative feelings, but I can assure you that many of us have received troves of unbidden email from one another over the years and nothing untoward or inappropriate has ever occurred as far as I know.

I’m quite sure Phantom was just offering an innocent invitation, he does that with everyone here, the man likes to meet the people he’s talking to on a daily basis. No big deal.

I might add that when you two aren’t fussing, you seem to be copacetic on a number of topics.

  119. Well all I can say is that I would welcome any e mail inviting me to do something inappropriate 😉

  120. It’s strange that the big rows here are between people who aren’t necessarily far apart in their political views.
e.g. Patty and Phantom and Troll generally support the same election candidates.
And one would never imagine from reading this site that, in one election, mahons voted for the conservative while Patty voted for the über-liberal candidates.

On the other hand: guys or gals with strong views in one direction – like Frank, Petr, Allan – almost never get into personal rows with others.

I think Patty and Troll get stuck into Phantom (or stuck on?) because they feel he has betrayed something. There is no enemity like tbose approximately similar.
It’s sort of like the “People’s Front for the Liberation of Judea”

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gb_qHP7VaZE

  121. I pretty much agree, Daphne. I’ll leave it to the rest of you to meet each other. But it is a turn off when Phantom says things like “we talked about your evilness” and you say you tell senators about troll and patty..,.don’t do it if you don’t like when it’s done to you (myself included) …and when you engage in that behavior…try hard not to play victim.

  122. I hate that

I had the reverse when I returned here – woke up at 4am. Time zones all messed up

  123. Haha… S’funny. I have no idea how that yellow box came about above…the wonders of iPad…basically, I was acknowledging Seimi’s point…Phantom is the only one to throw in Troll’s face that he contributed to David’s attempt to help someone. We all have our warts…

  124. Sure did, Mairin. Why not share Troll and Patty’s thoughts with Ted Cruz? This isn’t a private forum and I know my fellow contributor Patty sure does love the man. The newly elect senator was delighted to read his supporters opinions. We do live in an open democracy, don’t you know.

The rest of your … thoughts make no sense to me. Victim?

I call it as I see it around here. I’ve never run from a good fight or failed to apologize when I’ve crossed the line and I’ve openly admitted defeat when I was wrong on a point of fact.

If you don’t like how the people who are most sympathetic or ideologically aligned with your highly educated point of view talk to one another around here, then you are going to find yourself in one very lonely corner. Stick up for Patty and Troll’s behavior all you like, but neither one of those good people will agree with you on almost everything.

I’m trying to be nice to you, if you’re not receptive, so be it.

Maybe Colm has it right. He nearly always does.

  125. Daphne, nice doesn’t come into this for me…discussion does.
In my opinion, Phantom plays victim sometimes.
We all call it as we see it…that’s why it’s fun.

  126. In fact you’re an ungracious, insecure bitch who feels the need to remind everyone of your ivy bona fides, grand travel itineraries and children’s upper level schooling in nearly every verbal transaction.

Why do you even bother commenting on this site? We’re obviously not your sort of people. God forbid one asks you to meet for cocktails or shares your words with a senator.

  127. I’m self-made, Daphne…so is my daughter…all scholarships…all because we didn’t play follow the leader…

  128. Discussion? Really?

You’ve managed it three or four times before heading straight off the ranch to bite Mahons or Phantom in the ass. I wouldn’t call that discussion, I’d call it truly strange behavior.

    I’m done with you.

  129. To make it clear…I’ve attended all kinds of schools. My parents were not formally educated.

  130. I’ve only recently decided that Phantom deserves some of the shit he’s received in the context of an Internet site,

  131. You are genuinely crazy, obsessed.

What did I ever do to you?

You had spoken about ” American men ” here acting against you. Care to shed light on that? Who were the other American men?

    Boil any bunnies lately?

  132. mairin is certainly emotionally up and down. I thinks she uses ATW as an occasional psychological release vent. You cannot debate rationally with her here, sadly.

  133. I do not know how there can be ongoing conversation between the sane and the bad and crazy here. All are well represented, and that’s not good.

And this has nothing to do with people’s opinions on major political issues or any things like that.

    This cannot be sustained.

  134. Phantom, you see yourself as ‘good’…even as represented by your pretend name…can you not handle that you are not seen as all good? You do shitty things. So what? Stop pointing fingers and they will not be pointed back at you.

  135. this will be a long retort.

I did no such thing. Your own paranoia may interpret that way but that does not make it true. The question was asked to point out that you have NO STAKE IN THE FUTURE.

Phantom, on January 13th, 2013 at 11:50 PM Said:

Yes context Phantom like those that have made excuses for the actions of TERRORISTS. You always choose to ignore the context that that statement was made to the people who have supported the IRA and other TERROR fanatics on this site and it stands right here in context.

“If you believe as people on here have that the IRA and others have been justified in their bombings of civilians, than you accept it as just if your own children die in the same manner. If you support TERROR than you can’t complain when your own children die from it because you say it’s OK”

That was and IS the context.

Calling someone a traitor? Oh me oh my how horrible, and no one mangles an argument as bad as you.

    as for this.

That is pure bullshit a lie. Find a post where I have railed against safety nets. I have posted on here in support of a level of them and for government spending in things like the Space program. I have never said there should be no safety nets.

Post a comment I have EVER said against unemployment, hell even welfare for that matter.

FDR and LBJ instituted communistic trappings over our society. I have never been against a man getting a hand up, but not a hand out. You can’t tell the difference.

I post this to all of you.

Stop being hypocrites. Look at your own comments. The majority on here are far from nice gentle disagreements of points of view.

If I have called you a name and hurt your feelings odds are in the favor that you have done the same to me or another.

If you have posted on my threads I can not only pull your e-mail but the location that you are in when you typed it.

I HAVE NEVER USED THAT INFORMATION. I have had conversations with several of you off this blog I know your real names and I don’t use them. I have broken that rule once or twice with Mahons to make it a personal statement. When I have done so it was something between me and him and I used my real name. Ask him has he EVER felt threatened? and he and I have had true hard feelings toward each other at times.

Phantom insists I am a threat. I insist he is paranoid.

I use the name Troll as a character. You All know my real name. I engage in theatrics for the effect of making a point.

I have no secrets, no shame, and definitely no guilt over anything I have ever said or revealed.

So go to hell. If you don’t want to engage with me don’t.

If you choose to keep your life a secret you do so for your own reasons. Not from a threat from any on this site. Don’t ever point a finger of accusation at me. I have NEVER THREATENED ANYONE.

You are right, you are both crazy and a bad person. Not to mention a nasty cry baby. I know you come down in my area we have spoken of food joints by your family.

If you want try your hand at thrashing me I will gladly meet you. You’re the one that threatened you man enough to carry it out? I doubt it.

This is not a threat. You said I’m not man enough. Hand to hand anytime. At your request and your invitation.

  137. after you get out of the hospital I’ll buy you a beer and the best cheesesteak you have ever eaten

  138. Oh no, I missed all the fun. Think of something quick, erm, I’m considered a socialist and I don’t have any Apple kit…… (Tumbleweed blows by) I’ll get me coat.

  139. And mairin2 I’m surprised at you!
I expected more from a lady.
    So same goes for you.
    Early bed, no supper.

  140. it’s not a handbag it’s a man purse….

I would say what I really call it but it is very un-pc and I’m sure would considered an attack by someone.

  141. Trollio,
That Irish Italian temperament of yours will get you hung!
You and Phantom need to find a better way of communicating because both of you have valid things to say and both of you are key bloggers on ATW.

    btw
Snow is falling here in Norfolk, so I haven’t gotten to the post office yet. My chuch pal who loves his iMac reckons it will cost a lot in insurance too, but I’ll let you know.
Now take some deep breaths, think kind thoughts and make up with your American buddy… 😉

  142. mairin2
    Dear lady.
    “Fun night…sorry you missed it…A8…;-P”

I watched it all unfold but stayed out.
I was too busy thinking of new ways to irrit8 Petr Tarasov..

  143. Probably will be more than I can afford at this point. The fun in the house right now is who gets to sit at the e-machine. I had 3 laptops and a mac go belly up in the last 4 mths in a house where everyone is always online.

As for the above I’ve stated my piece. I understand that my question was misinterpreted and it brokedown which I played a part in. Other parties don’t believe they have crossed any line.

All I can do is turn it over.

  144. Agit8ed, Are you looking to sell a Mac? If so how old is it, what model is it and much you asking for it? Cheers.

  145. “All I can do is turn it over.”

    Proverbs 15:1 (King James Version)

” A soft (gentle) answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.”

Some people are better at soft answers than others, but we’re all learning.

Sorry about your laptop probs. Here in England we have folk who repair ’em pretty cheap or reconditioned ones are easy to come by, Technology changes so fast you could probably pick up a pretty good steam driven model…

  146. Lordy Lordy what a thread!

    Mairin
Unless you are talking about another incident Phantom mentioned his contribution when Troll was insulting him not about his political views but about him having viscious intent. It was relevant evidence to the contrary. I also can’t work out what Phantom did wrong in inviting you for a drink.

    Troll
    Phantom didn’t threaten you.

Phantom IF the comment Troll made that you are saying was him hoping that children of SF supporters would be killed then he has been very restrained in challanging you about it. Of course it could be that he said what you have reported but meant what he has stated here.

I doubt if many are careful about what they say because of Troll. If they are then that is a bit daft as our comments here are for any nutjob with Internet acess to see. I post here under my real name but only because my first comment on the site was in response to a thread that David had written about the bomb and I wanted to thank him for giving a damn. I sort of got sucked in and it woukd be pointless to adopt another indentity but if I had my time over again I would. I find it bizarre when as happened recently someone who posts on here anonymously told me to “have the courage to say what I am thinking”, which is a hell of a chek on a number of fronts.

  147. No that wasn’t entirely what I was thinking about, Aileen. Phantom and Troll have had an ongoing push-me pull-you ‘relationship’ on here for as long as I can remember. Recently, I’ve noticed Phanton has been the instigator of some of the war of words…and they were meant to belittle Troll. Kick him when he was down…that was my point. In any event, I often side with the ‘underdog’.
I am sorry I ever brought up that I don’t like being contacted on the Internet by strangers…I’ll never hear the end of it…;-) I used to blog on a group site a long time ago having to do with a totally unrelated mostly no political topic….we would have been ‘let go’ if we ever contacted anyone from the site or used their email address in any way. I understand that you all enjoy meeting each other face to face and that you’ve developed a cyber family so to speak…I don’t see myself as part of that. So, I won’t bring it up anymore…but I have a feeling someone else might do so…we shall see.

  148. Mairin

It does pay to be wary about people you “meet” online.

To be fair though it wasn’t just that you said that you don’t like being contacted that way, you really went into one about it. So you shouldn’t be suprised at the reaction to it. I’m happy to let it go though.

  149. mairin2,
There definitely are dangers to online blogging and inadvertently revealing too much about yourself, or even others.

Like this situation I am sometimes guilty of either misunderstanding or overreacting to things that have been said, allowing myself to get mad and belligerent with individuals. (Noel Cunningham springs to mind.)
On the plus side though, such failures serve to pull you up and cause you to re-think your attitudes.

  150. I had no viscous intent. I asked him his family status to exemplify that he had no skin in the game as to the long term results of the policies he supported.

If you want to inflect your interpretation you are entitled to do do so, but they are yours not mine.

and if you “read” the thread it was Phantom that threatened physical violence no one else

  151. I think the disconnect for me is I don’t take this Internet battling as seriously as some do…mostly I’m laughing and/or sharing the finger fights with whomever is near…a few times I’ve even let a coworker answer for me. To some I apparently come off as arrogant and to others as hysterical…either way it doesn’t matter much to me because I see this as a source of entertainment and I’m not much interested in winning or losing. Though I must say I have learned a lot from some people…in particular the unionist posters because my exposure has been very limited in the past.

  152. Troll

I didn’t say you had viscious intent. I said that you accused Phantom of it not in this thread but in another which resulted in him pointing out his contribution to Troll Aid.

He did not threaten you with physical harm!

What you quoted and claimed was a treat wasn’t. It was Phantom merely saying he would like to see how brave you are in person without your guns. Where is the threat? It is a common response to express an interest in seeing how a commentator who throws insults arround on the Internet would do the same to someone if face to face.

  153. Aileen if I said these words

I’d like to see how brave you are in person, without one of your guns.

everyone would be calling it a threat. For god sake I asked him about his family status and it was considered an attack.

so don’t be less intelligent than I know you are or engage in sharing falsehoods. That is a threat.

Also keep it confined to this argument, if you want to go over every thread I can show numerous times where he was viscous for no reason with me and others.

  154. I’m not re-fighting this battle. I posted my apology to the non involved readers. I will not comment on this thread further.

  155. Troll

No not everyone would. I wouldn’t because it isn’t!

Don’t you start accusing me of lying!

FGS whether or not he has been accusing you of viscious intent or not has NOTHING do do with my point which was to Mairin who was saying that Phantom cast his generosity up to you. I was merely pointing out that he did not do it as part of an argy bargy re politics but in response to you attacking him personnally and where pointing out his generousity to you was counter evidence re your accusation and therefore relevant!

  156. mairin2,
Personally I find myself challenged by views held by others, and sometimes it causes me to rethink positions I previously held without thinking them through. So the personal stuff that comes with some folk here makes it more likely that I will think about what they say because I think I know a little more about them.

  157. Point taken, A8, I do notice that you are thoughtful about your posts. I don’t read all the posts or comments….usually because I check in here on the fly mostly and I’m multitasking when I’m here. Sadly, Hurricane Sandy wrecked my workplace so I’ve had a lot more time and privacy to play on the Internet since I’m working from home…hopefully, I’ll be back at work soon and tied up in meetings and such and not have time for so much play.

  158. Give up that weird roasted fruit diet and I’m sure you’ll be a much nicer person.
You’ll have more friends, greater success at work and your bras will fit better..
    😉

    Goodnight.

  159. Mairin

I don’t know if you have mentioned that before. Sorry to hear that. Hopefully it’s financial impact on you can be limited.

  160. mairin2
    Ah.
I didn’t pick up on Aileen’s observation about work. It has been nice having more of your comments, but I too sincerely hope you will see things improve soon.
Please forgive my silly remark re diet..

  161. ha ha A8! Nothing a little waxing won’t cure….good night!
Thanks, Aileen…it hasn’t had any financial impact, thankfullyI love where I work and I’m involved in a lot of corporate volunteer and ERG stuff that has been shut down since the hurricane. I have as much fun as work while at the office but not so much while working remotely. I live in a very isolated part of the city and believe it or not, only have few neighbors so it’s very lonely working from home.

  162. Not sure though Sister Mary Gerald always pointed out how lovingly he looked at the little birdie on his finger, I always thought he looked rather hungry.

  163. Capitalism doesn’t produce these things; people’s ingenuity did. Capitalism is a barrier to that. It monopolises and commodifies that knowledge.

    Well said Petr

That salient of points, always missed. And I think was the point Aaron Swartz was trying to make with his JSTOR stunt.

  164. Incentives count.

Without the freedom to spend all your time producing something great and the freedom to make a lot of money doing it, no one but no one is going to spend their lives making the next Electric Car, Cloud Computing Sytem, Jumbo Jet, or lifesaving drug.

It is only in a capitalist world that man is free to create and dream and build things like this.

Capitalism needs to have rules, and capital and the bosses must never be able to do whatever the hell they like, but within the context of rules, there is no better system for the liberation of man than capitalism.

  165. I missed all this. If it’s alright, may I add my opinion?

Troll, I understand that you did not INTEND to cause Phantom offence by what you said, I know you didn’t MEAN it that way, but nevertheless, the 5th paragraph of your comment of Jan 13th, 7:53pm was way, way below the belt. The trouble was that you leapt in and said it without thinking it through. I accept that you did not mean to offend Phantom, but for God’s sake, man, a comment like that, asking a single man “so where is your wife/family” – how can you not understand that that is going to cause a lot of deep offence to whoever you say it to. Our family status is the closest thing to our hearts, and any perceived attack upon that is just not on.
That comment was way, way out of line, Troll, and you owe Phantom an unreserved apology for that unthinking, hurtful comment.
