No Surrender (Now THERE’S a great blog title!) has an excellent summary here of the details featured on RTE’s "Prime Time" highlighting the Jihad threat in Ireland. There are five central and troubling issues.

Firstly, there is a Jihadi propaganda operation active in Ireland. Secondly, there is, within the Muslim community in Ireland, high-level sympathy for Jihad. Thirdly, there is a small [15%-19%] element in this community, which supports such terror. Fourthly, several active Jihadi terrorists have been identified with Irish links. Fifthly, a significant Al-Qaida figure is based in Dublin for some 25 years, and has acquired Irish citizenship.

None of this is in the least surprising. Jihad is not appeased. It is either defeated or it triumphs. Ireland has the same choice as everywhere else the ROP gets a grip. Submit or die.

  1. A poll in yesterday’s Irish Independent gave us an insight into the thinking of Muslims in Ireland.

36% Want Sharia Law imposed in Ireland

28% of under 26 year olds regard violence for political means acceptable

More than half, or 57% of this same group want Ireland to become an Islamic State

20% respect Osama Bin Laden and his ilk

The headline in the Irish Independent reporting the poll was "Muslims Give Their Blessing" and the story read as if integration was a success. The reportiing contradicted the figures it was supposed to be about.

  2. Henry,

You’d be forgiven for thinking the Independent group published newspapers. They’ve a very suspect past when it comes to reporting in my opinion.

The figures might be true, but it’d take more of a source than an Independent newspaper before I’d give them credence. Now, it were in the Irish Examiner! 🙂

  3. It is the Sindo Madradin. The Irish Independent, whilst sometimes annoying, actually passes as a newspaper on many occasions.

More muslims probably live within a five-mile radius of Andrew McCann’s house than in the whole of Ireland.

  4. "28% of under 26 year olds regard violence for political means acceptable"

I wonder what this figure would be for Shinners of all ages.

  5. Surely the support shown at Easter for the commemoration of "violence for political means" shows that Muslims aren’t out of step with the rest of the irish population?

  6. Considering muslims in the RoI number about 30,000 perhaps? – less than 1% of the population I’d like to know what the 57% who wanted Ireland to become an Islamic state are smoking!!! Although the sinners expecting a united Ireland by 2016 are equally deluded I suppose 😉

  7. Madradin Ruad, I recently recall reading an article over at Israpundit, regarding Catholicism and Islam, if you think about it they’re the two major unreformed religions in the world, so is it any suprise the zealot like followers of both behave so violently towards all those different from them??

  8. ‘28% of under 26 year olds regard violence for political means acceptable’

Is that all? A far higher percentage of the general population in most Western countries are likely to regard violence for political means as acceptable. The French Revolution, the American Revolution, the Easter Rising, the Ulster Covenant and so on and so forth.

  9. Aiken – The difference between the two would be the loose alliance/confused allegiance between hard left and hard right inherent in Irish Republicanism. AFAIK Socialism let alone anything harder tends to be anathema to Islamic zealots.

  10. "if you think about it they’re the two major unreformed religions in the world, so is it any suprise the zealot like followers of both behave so violently towards all those different from them??"

    Aiken,

What about the reforms of the 2nd Vatican Council? Maybe you’re thinking of the Tridentines?!! They are a bunch of crazy cats.

Thank (the one true Catholic and Apostolic) God that there are no Protestant zealots. I couldn’t cope with any more.

  11. ‘More muslims probably live within a five-mile radius of Andrew McCann’s house than in the whole of Ireland.’

I don’t have Muslims in my part of town. It was one of the deciding factors when I moved in to the neighbourhood.

  12. Islam will never take in Ireland. First, Irish people can’t spare the time to face Mecca five times a day, it would interfer with them talking about their neighbors. Irish bacon and sausages will stem the tide of the Muslim horde. Besides, who can show off their wellies when wearing a burka?

  13. Considering out of a population of 5 million in Yorkshire and The Humber, Muslims make up 190,000, that’s not bad going Andrew.

There are about six times as many Muslims in your area of England than in the whole of Ireland and you managed to find the one urban part that doesn’t have Muslims.

Methinks the veiled tide could be lapping closer to your welcome mat than you think.

"Maybe you’re thinking of the Tridentines?!! They are a bunch of crazy cats."

Oh no we’re not. Can you cite a single terrorist attack by a Tridentine Catholic since Vatican II? Comparing any part of Catholicism to Islamofascism is absurd.

We simply make the case for tradition. You can expect that case to be successful in the very near future. The Latin Mass will be restored to it’s rightful status as an equal and legitimate rite. Also expect a reconciliation between Rome and the Leferbists. Great things are coming.

  15. Henry,

"Can you cite a single terrorist attack by a Tridentine Catholic since Vatican II?"

Until you spoke up I could not name a Tridentine Catholic. Funnily enough you’re the same one I remember thanking the IRA!

"Comparing any part of Catholicism to Islamofascism is absurd"

Comparing theocracy to theocracy is not absurd, and the resemblance doesn’t end there. A difference of degree maybe but not of kind.

Your final paragraph is astonishing and a bit of a worry, but it takes all sorts I suppose.

  16. Comparing any part of Catholicism to Islamofascism is absurd.

    Bizarre claim Henry.

  17. "Oh no we’re not. Can you cite a single terrorist attack by a Tridentine Catholic since Vatican II?"

Whoopsie! I didn’t expect a Tridentine to be lurking! I’ll only make fun of other minority sects in future.

    Those Plymouth Brethren eh!

    "Ahem…"No Protestant zealots"……are you sure?"

    David,

Your sarcasm detector wasn’t working on that one. That comment was made with my fenian tongue firmly in my cheek. 🙂
