WHAT A GAY DAY FOR PLOD!

By ATWadmin On February 3rd, 2009

I think this speaks volumes for the set of priorities which some within British policing pursue…

“A police station has come under fire after officers replaced its Union Jack with a gay rights flag. New Met police chief Sir Paul Stephenson was said to be outraged when he was told the gay emblem was raised outside Limehouse Station in east London. It replaced the Union Jack and was put up by officers in recognition of Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Month celebrated in February.”

I’d like to know what disciplinary action is being taken against those officers who did this.

Shouldn’t they be prosecuted for this blatant lack of procedure?

If they broke the law by raising the Gay Flag shouldn’t they be penalised?

  1. East London eh. Bet that went down well in the local predominantly Asian community they police.

  2. I understand, and have sympathy with, the reasons for the action, but however well intentioned, it is path the police force would do well to stay off.
The problem is once you say we support this or that particular week, then someone is going to complain if you don’t support the next one in the taxi rank.
We are very lucky in this country that we have a police force that is still based on the principle of consensual policing. Long may that last. But I don’t think the police force needs to go for overt displays like this. Better would be that they treat people from all racial, gender, sexuality, ability, you-name-it, sectors of society exactly the same. That, and, oh yes, catch crooks.
As for replacing the Union Flag, I don’t want to go down the US path with flags all over the place like a rash, but a police station is the appropriate place for the Union Flag.

  3. Of course they could get local groups to sponsor a flag waving period. Each minority group gets to see their symbol above the police station for a week/month etc. and funds are raised for a crime victims charity in the process.

  4. Surely the Superintendant/Chief Superintendant carries responsibiility for this occurance as I assume he or she has had to give permission for this flag to be raised. If the flag has been raised without this permission then who runs this station?

Is there something you’d like to share with the group David?

  6. "Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender "

I presume their spokes-man/ woman/ person/ other/ (indicate preference) signs themselves as ‘Confused’ of Haringay!

Yes, and they achieve such rank by attending every diversity awareness course, every anti-racist course and by achieving top marks on all of them.

You can bet your mortgage that no ‘Chief Super’ has not bought wholly into the neo-Marxist drivel that this ridiculous stunt represents. It’s how they achieved rank and why the police is now a wholly-owned security force of the liberal Establishment.

Contrast with what was a police force of our formerly free and civilised nation:

SIR – I was heartened to read in Charles Moore’s column that the newly appointed Metropolitan Police Commissioner has stated that he is leading a “Force” and not a “Service” (Comment, January 31).

When I was appointed a constable in the late 1940s I was told that I had four duties to perform. In descending order of importance they were: the protection of life and of property; and the prevention and the detection of crime. These are still the sole duties of a policeman.

I was never instructed to pander to the changing fashions of the public I served.
