Two House Democrats on Monday questioned 12 television and content providers about why they carry Fox News, One America News Network, and Newsmax, blaming the right-leaning outlets for spreading misinformation and conspiracy theories.

Democratic Reps. Anna Eshoo and Jerry McNerney, both from California, sent letters to television content providers such as AT&T, Roku, Comcast, and Verizon asking them why they carried the three “purported” news outlets that they say function as “misinformation rumor mills and conspiracy theory hotbeds that produce content that leads to real harm.”

The Democrats asked the content carriers if they plan “to continue carrying Fox News, Newsmax, and OANN,” and if so, why.

“Right-wing media outlets, like Newsmax, One America News Network (OANN), and Fox News all aired misinformation about the November 2020 elections,” McNerney and Eshoo wrote. “These same networks also have been key vectors of spreading misinformation related to the pandemic.”

  1. That should be condemned.

As should Trump’s incitement against a free press, and his encouragement of English style libel and slander laws here, the sole purpose of which would be to suppress press criticism of himself his family and other corrupt apparachnicks.

  2. Everything comes back to Trump with you…….

The Dems are in the Process of destroying our Rights it has NOTHING to do with Trump.

  3. He wanted to destroy the First Amendment, and your silence on that matter was tacit support for what he wanted to do.

So why don’t you support these House Democrats too? You all have the same goal.

  4. Because Phantom if you knew how your Government worked you’d understand that a President has no power to Damage the 1st Amendment or ANY Amendment. Congress does.

The President unless you are Obama can not write Law, but Congress can and is trying to.

If you can’t delineate the difference in threat of Someone bad mouthing the Press even a President, and Congress Writing Laws to shutdown Press well then you need a lot of education.

  5. Phantom….. A President hasn’t the POWER under Law to change ANYTHING, or write Liable Laws.

Congress Does….. you really need to learn how your Government works.

  6. No your idol needs to know how the government works.

I said at the time that the poor dumb bastard was unaware that such law was almost exclusively a state matter.

But you were mute, which was your way of supporting his proposal which was made more than once

  7. And NEVER use that “Silence is Endorsement” democrat spin point with me…. If I support something I am just as vocal as I am if I’m against it. If you get Silence from ME on something it’s either I don’t care, or more likely I feel it’s a point not worth trying to educate someone on.

  8. Phantom all screwing around aside.

I know you are very busy, and god bless you for that, However….

You sit in very unique position. You live in the NYmetro, you support a lot of the covid practices, you use Public Transportation, and you love your city.

I think everyone would appreciate an article from YOU on the conditions on the ground from someone who loves their city.

What is the Atmosphere, can you ride the subways comfortably, how is dining and it’s availability, how are your local family shops doing, etc etc.

  9. That’s why I want you to take your time, just don’t forget to do it…

I want to feel your love for your community as well, not the suffering, but the hope and how the damage of all this is being overcome.

If I wanted pessimism or negativity…. I’d write it 😉

  10. In a couple of decades the left went from “if you don’t like it then don’t watch it” to “remove things we don’t like”.

The Taliban did the same to religious icons and art. Yes, that is an apt analogy. The left is in full on in using Taliban methods against people, statues, street names, speech and anything else they point the finger at.

It’s not worth it to no longer have one account with hurty tweets, but some people are so closed minded they’ll never grasp that.

  11. They’ve always just wanted them removed, but were afraid to insist they never thought they’d get away with it…. but apparently we will

  12. Correct comments I hate to say

There has been a real shift away from free speech to restricted speech in the service of conflict and just about all of this is on the left. Bill Maher, a lefty himself, has spoken loudly and repeatedly on this on his show.

Here, from his show four years ago, speaking with Andrew Sullivan, along with the retired Congressman Barney Frank.

There are plenty of free speech liberals around but they often don’t have the stomach to do battle with the Pol Pot Year One element on campus or on the streets.

  13. It’s real, it’s scary and it is the one issue I will still fight to the death over…

I don’t care what you are saying, I will fight to the death for your right to say it….

  14. In the humorless world of Woke, the satire is never funny and the statute of limitations never expires, even when it comes to hamantaschen.

In 2015, Bon Appétit ran an article by the food writer Dawn Perry about hamantaschen, the triangular cookies that are a tradition during the Jewish festival of Purim. It was headlined — brace yourself for outrage — “How to Make Actually Good Hamantaschen.”

Six years later, a woman named Abigail Koffler found the article while researching hamantaschen fillings. She was not amused.

Perry, Koffler wrote on Twitter, isn’t Jewish. Perry’s husband, Koffler added, had been forced out of his job at Condé Nast last year based on accusations of racial bias. Above all, Koffler objected, “Traditional foods do not automatically need to be updated, especially by someone who does not come from that tradition.”

Most Jews would probably be grateful for an “actually good” hamantasch. Yet within hours of Koffler’s tweets, Bon Appétit responded with an editor’s note atop the article, now renamed “5 Steps to Really Good Hamantaschen.” It’s a note that defies summary, parody and belief.

“The original version of this article included language that was insensitive toward Jewish food traditions and does not align with our brand’s standards,” the editor wrote. “As part of our Archive Repair Project, we have edited the headline, dek, and content to better convey the history of Purim and the goals of this particular recipe. We apologize for the previous version’s flippant tone and stereotypical characterizations of Jewish culture.”

Behold in this little story, dear reader, the apotheosis of Woke.

No transgression of sensitivities is so trivial that it will not invite a moralizing rebuke on social media.

No cultural tradition is so innocuous that it needn’t be protected from the slightest criticism, at least if the critic has the wrong ethnic pedigree.

No writer is so innocent that she should be spared from having her spouse’s alleged failings trotted out to suggest discrimination-by-association.

And no charge of cultural insensitivity is so far-fetched that it won’t force a magazine into self-abasing self-expurgation. What Bon Appétit blithely calls its “Archive Repair Project” is, according to HuffPost, an effort to scour “55 years’ worth of recipes from a variety of Condé Nast magazines in search of objectionable titles, ingredient lists and stories told through a white American lens.”

Woke Me When It’s Over, Bret Stephens, NY Times

  15. good article….

this is the shit that worries me and we are living during it…. As part of our Archive Repair Project…… uh if they are doing this at “Bon Appétit” you know they are doing it at other organizations as well.

Changing historical record to fit the social morals of any period of time is both wrong and Dangerous.

  16. But I don’t even think that this is in sync with the morals of this time

I dare say most people – black, white, latino, Asian, male, female – they hate this woke shit, utterly despise it

But the squeaky wheels get a lot of attention. They spend their lives looking for something to get offended by, so that they can complain endlessly about it.

  17. That’s what’s going to save us. It is NOT the morality of the age, but one that is trying to be imposed on society by a class of elites. The problem is they control the lines of communication at the moment.

There are always certain “words” that should never be used. A real set of Carlin’s 7, but you can’t silence people for talking about subjects and points of view that you disagree with.

The effect of trying to never ends well and nor should it.
