LARDARSES ARE SUCH A BURDEN

By Pete Moore On February 25th, 2021

Americans with four conditions – obesity, diabetes mellitus, high blood pressure and heart failure –  account for two-thirds of all COVID-19 hospitalizations in the US, a new study estimates.

The Tufts University researchers note that many instances of these conditions are preventable, and those hospitalizations likely would have been too.

Says it ain’t so! For all the therapeutics, treatments and vaccines, the first line of defence against any illness or disease is not being so fat that you live in two postcodes. (That’s zip codes in the colonies.)

Imagine the financial cost and emotional toll in all this, in all countries. All it would have taken, to avoid so much of it, is good food and a nice walk now and then.

Fat shamers are such public spirited people.

  1. Yes Pete, but it’s the same in Blighty where obesity is nearly as big a problem as in the USA.

That’s why hospitalisations will continue at a high rate for months after the over 50s have been vaccinated, there are so many obese people in their twenties and thirties. And Type 2 Diabetes is at epidemic levels even in that age group.
