GUTTED FOR SHABINA BIGGUM

By Pete Moore On February 26th, 2021

Shamima Begum, who left the UK for Syria to join the Islamic State group as a teenager, will not be allowed to return and fight her citizenship case, the Supreme Court has ruled.

The court said in a unanimous ruling that her rights were not breached when she was refused permission to return.

Ms Begum, 21, wants to come back to challenge the home secretary’s decision to remove her British nationality.

Oh dear, how sad. Her lefty lawyers will have to run the appeal while she sits it out in a Syrian tent. The Guardian crowd has been on the airwaves today saying that she should be allowed back to answer for her crimes. This is, of course, total lefty drivel. Her crimes were committed in Syria and she should answer for them in Syria.

They’ve also been pointing out that she was a wee, ickle 15 year old and ever so young to know what she was doing when she bunked off to become a terrorist’s brood mare. The same people say that 16 year olds are absolutely mature enough to vote. We see your lies and propaganda.

  1. They also say 14 year olds can decide their gender …

  2. Your society needs to be protected from her.

The right of society comes before any rights that she thinks that she has at this point.

    Decisions have consequences.

  3. We shouldn’t cheer yet. She could still win her legal fight overall and be allowed to return in due course. If that happens she must face the strongest terrorist charges and a very lengthy jail sentence if it happens.

  4. We shouldn’t cheer yet. She could still win her legal fight overall and be allowed to return in due course.

Yes Colm, that’s a likely outcome at some point. But in the meantime she can rot.

  5. Why should Syria have to deal with her? If a Syrian citizen came to the UK illegally and committed serious crimes, you would want them deported. Or maybe I’m wrong. Would you be fine if Syria said, we’ve revoked her citizenship. She’s all yours?

  6. Petr –

    You’re contradicting yourself.

“If a Syrian citizen came to the UK illegally and committed serious crimes, you would want them deported.”

Absolutely not. I’d want the Syrian to face justice here. Begum committed her crimes in Syria and should therefore answer for them in Syria.

It is high-handed imperialism to say that only British justice is good enough, which libs are effectively doing, but we know that the left-lib is the greatest imperialist of all.

  7. How am I contradicting myself?

  8. Petr –

You asked “Why should Syria have to deal with her?” I’d say we shouldn’t deprive Syria of the right to try her.

You then say “If a Syrian citizen came to the UK illegally and committed serious crimes, you would want them deported.”. Nope, not before that person has faced justice here.

  9. Pete

I suppose Petr’s argument is what if the Syrian’s chose to deport her would we be obliged to take her ?

  10. Colm –

The Supreme Court has just answered that question, for now.
