ATW FRIDAY NIGHT JUKEBOX

By Pete Moore On April 9th, 2021

Because Friday night is Music Night

Another week done at the coalface of capitalism and Spring has given way to Winter. I almost took a flamethrower to the ice on the motor the other morning. I don’t mind Winter but by now I’m ready for a bit of sunshine over the bluebells.

It’s amazing how many great songs Bob Dylan wrote then almost murdered with his singing. It’s a testament to his songwriting chops that they could withstand his voice. But there they still are, like the beautiful “One More Cup Of Coffee”.

Have fun whatever you’re up to this weekend. As always, feel free to share your top sounds down below –

  2. Another masterpiece, poetry in song by Bob Dylan, nearly murdered by Bob Dylan.

I have to say that the fiddle and bass line in “One More Cup Of Coffee” do something to me. That’s EmmyLou Harris in the mix too.

  3. I had never heard this song before.

There’s an Arabic sound to what he’s doing there.

  4. This is a sublime Schubert piano piece played by the sunblime Khatia Buniatishvili (you gotta love copy-paste):

  5. This is Mozart music in the Redford-Streep film Out of Africa. The music matches the cinema-photography:

  6. We are marking the death of Prince Philip. This is the most respectful funeral music ever written, by Handel of course:

  7. Even more dramatic is this Purcell piece written for the death of Queen Mary in 1694 after she died suddenly from Smallpox:
