Because Friday night is Music Night

Another week done at the coalface of capitalism. Boris has just just given another epidemic press conference. I dread to look. Look after your sanity and ignore such things.

As someone has said in these here parts, black music has badly lost its way. Tonight’s choice comes courtesy of a Chicago family band. They’d be laughed out of the ‘hood for doing this now, or shot. Maybe both. I bet their swanky bell-bottoms are pulled up to the waist too. It also comes courtesy of Bernard Purdie whose drumming is spectacular. You just don’t hear drumming like this any more. It’s like Ian Paice was transplanted from Deep Purple. I could listen to players like that all night.

Have fun whatever you’re up to this weekend. As always, feel free to share your top sounds down below –

  1. They might be making an epic appearance soon.

I think that music sounds better when you’re driving. I heard The Stylistics on the wireless while I was barrelling down the motorway today. I’ve never been into them but it sounded fabulous.

I name checked Ian Paice of Deep Purple in the post. Such a great drummer.

  2. even the worst song when played in the right moment can sound great…
