The Federalist is an excellent right of center site that gives honest analysis. On this topic they have nailed it pretty good. There are a few things I have a different view on.

They ask: Why are Democrats in Congress staging a series of show hearings to generate support for H.R. 4, “The John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act”? Because, they claim, there is a wave of “voter suppression” going on across the country.

That is not the why, the why is because their views and policies are not agreeable to the majority of American, and rather than argue their views in public debate they wish to impose those views upon everyone else. They can no longer hide who they really are nor are they trying. They are openly suppressing Political Speech. They are pushing Socialism and Segregation and doing it in the name of imaginary “Systemic Racism”. The American people do not want or believe this and the only way they will get it through is by voter fraud and controlling your vote.

The Federalist does state the obvious: That is nothing more than a political fabrication. Requiring voters to show ID to authenticate their identity, or trying to ensure voter registration rolls are accurate and up-to-date, are not “voter suppression” and don’t prevent any eligible individual from registering and voting.

What they miss however is the irony that over this last weekend 25 States forced everyone on Unemployment Compensation to Submit to Facial Recognition or they will not get the money they paid into the system. This is being proposed to be set as a mandatory Requirement on the Federal Level for the States to get matching funds. Explain to me how it is Voter Suppression and Racist for a State to require a Photo ID to Vote, yet not Suppression and Racism to Force people to submit to Facial Recognition Software to get their Unemployment? Unemployment is highest among minorities and woman… so this is not racist, but an ID to vote is?

They do sum up the issue quite well though:

As Cleta Mitchell noted in The Federalist earlier this month, H.R. 4 is “even more insidious” than its cousin, H.R. 1, precisely because “it would enable the vastly well-funded Democrat ‘voting rights’ apparatus to control American elections.” This control would extend over states’ election integrity measures like voter ID (even if passed by ballot referenda approved by all of the voters of a state).

These left-wing ideologues are hostile to the equal, non-partisan enforcement of federal voting rights laws. They are a threat to each state’s constitutional power to control its own election procedures and have repeatedly exhibited their biased attitudes over the course of decades.

Voting is written into the Constitution giving each State the right to control their system, but as with Free Speech the current American Government wants to Abandon the Constitution.

  1. The US states have a long history of trying to make it harder to vote. The 2020 Presidential election had the greatest ever number of voters, almost 160 million. The Republicans didn’t like that the Democrats won the Presidency, the Senate and the House so they have gone on a blitz of new voting laws.

The biggest problem in the 2020 election was Trump’s attempt to steal the election but Republicans think that was OK.

  2. No FO the democrats violated long existing voting laws in every state in the name of Covid and used it to steal the election which is why Joe won overwhelmingly but had no coat tails in the house and senate.

If requiring ID is racist and suppression when required to vote why is not for unemployment?

  3. “used it to steal the election which is why Joe won overwhelmingly but had no coat tails in the house and senate. ”

Joe got 51.3% of the vote
Dems got 50.8% of the vote in the House

  4. FO Biden supposedly won with more votes than any person in history, for him to lose seats in the House defies every election in history.
    …..
You can believe it wasn’t rigged, but that means millions of people voted ONLY for President and skipped the rest of the ticket. That’s a first in 245 years.

  5. “You can believe it wasn’t rigged, but that means millions of people voted ONLY for President and skipped the rest of the ticket. That’s a first in 245 years.”

    No it’s not.

It happens in every presidential election.

In 2020 about 6 million more voted in the Presidential election than in the House elections
In 2016 about 8 million more voted in the Presidential election than in the House elections

    You are wrong

  6. lol… you’re right and you’re wrong FO there is always that disparity between midterms and Presidentials.
    ….
Do you understand coat tails in an election?

  7. When Ted Cruz beat Trump in the Iowa primary in 2016 Trump immediately claimed that Cruz had stolen it. And after he won the GOP nomination in July Trump continually claimed that the only way he could lose the election would be if the Dems stole it, even though the opinion polls mostly had Hillary winning it up to the last few weeks.

So Trump has form. It was no surprise that he refused to concede on the night or the week or the month or for the rest of his crooked lying life. Because that’s how he is.
