Poor Mr Brown, it just gets worse…..

Gordon Brown has issued a passionate appeal to the British people for optimism in the face of the economic downturn, insisting that confidence will see the country through the deepening recession.

Ever hear the expression that hope makes a great breakfast but a poor supper?

Brown is increasingly removed from reality, deep down in his bunker, commanding the legions that no longer exist…

  1. Have a look at the photo of Brown again. It says something revealing.
A book on Body Language I read some years ago mentioned what it means when someone hides their thumb in the palm of their hand.
It’s sign of uncertainty and fearfulness; dread of the outside world.
It is perfectly natural in infants and young children, and is often observed in some neurotic adolescents.
It’s quite true. I’m not making that up.

  2. Bernard, Fascinating! My first communion picture was in front of a statue of the Blessed Mother and I was holding my thumbs. I never could figure out why I’d do that! I was 7 at the time I think.

Well, it could be worse. They could bury their head in their hands. I would suggest that that’s a DEFINITE sign of uncertainty.

A Catholic in Texas Chas? Whould’ve thunk.

    *Faints*

  4. Paul, we’re full of Catholics down here, lots of Hispanics now. Our Cathedral in Dallas Sunday is only surpassed by St Pat’s in New York by attendence.

Another thing, our Bishop’s from Dublin! 😉

  5. "Another thing, our Bishop’s from Dublin!"

Well Chas, apart from the perpetual guilt we all have our, [Catholic], crosses to bear.

  6. Paul, Catholics run fine and hard in Texas, we’re the only thing holding back the evangelical, protestant hoards sweeping then state.

  7. That’s easy for you to say Daphne. Unlike poor Chas I presume that you don’t have a Bishop who’s a Jackeen

  8. But he’s still a Jackeen Chas, [endearingly derogative noun for someone from Dublin, particularly from the Northside of Dublin].

Once a Jackeen, always a Jackeen.

As we say in these parts. Once a Jackeen,,, You can take the man out of Dublin etc.

    [Ask Noel, he’ll know]

    ;0)

  9. "I read he went to a CBS"

As did I Chas. The most brilliantly fervent educationalists, [in secular educational terms], that I ever had the good fortune to be taught by.

But then again I’m from Belfast and us Nordies aren’t like those wishy- washy Southerners.

We can also be a Godless lot.
