Revolutionaries love to indoctrinate children … This week, they took a great step towards their goal, which is the eradication of all that is left of conservative Christian opinion in this country.

Some of you will be astonished (I am not) that it was a nominally Conservative government which last week announced the extension of compulsory ‘relationship’ education and ‘sex education’ throughout the school system.

Peter Hitchens

Until now – quite rightly in any society with any regard for liberty – parents could remove their children from this particularly degenerate part of the state curriculum. Not any more, thanks to the unConservative government.

Now all children will be taught that all types of relationships and families are equal and valid. Whether or not this is the case (it’s not, of course), is beside the point. The state simply has no business inculcating such things in the mind of the young. God help any parents who resist, because the penalties will be severe.

I keep telling people that the Tories are a radical, far-left faction. This is because it’s simply true. Though they should never be trusted, they can be relied on to do one thing, which is to adopt every crackpot, revolutionary-left policy out there.

  1. It’s about subtle control through indoctrination. Take hold of their minds at a young age and their bodies will follow forever. Hitler knew that. After all that’s what Hitlerjugend and Lebensborn were all about. None of this is new. It’s been going on for hundreds of years on every continent. After the war Germany and the rest of the European union eventually just shifted to Socialism. Now the leaders intend to up the ante to full-blown totalitarian Communism where all the individuals’ personalities and minds must be integrated into the regime for the greater good of the Global fatherland.

And “Christian opinion” never tried to indoctrinate children? They’re probably peeved now just because they’ve lost their monopoly in it.

I wouldn’t be too concerned with the Fatherland.

They are far too busy fighting off a recession.

  4. Simon Jenkins in The Guardian agrees with Hitchens:

“But where I am not with Hinds is that this is none of his business. His job is to administer and resource a public service, not to dictate how its staff do their work. I wonder what doctors would say if a health minister told them how to cure lung cancer, or a transport minister told pilots how to fly…

Either way, this is for schools to decide. They have suffered the worst from government over-centralism since Thatcher’s assault on local democracy in the 1980s. From Kenneth Baker’s reactionary “national curriculum” of 1988, through Ed Balls’ wheelbarrow of directives to Hinds’ sex manuals, the trend has been the same: centralise and standardise. Need FGM education really be compulsory in Penrith? Whitehall even issues guidance on punctuation marks…

On Monday, petitioners against these reforms claimed that sexuality and the “physical, psychological and spiritual implications” of LGBT should not be part of a mandatory curriculum. They are right only on the word mandatory, but there they are spot on. If ever there was a topic for ministers to leave to professionals, it is this. Leave a difficult job to those for whom it is a vocation, not a headline opportunity.”
