During the campaign, I seem to recall you posting at length on the question of Obama’s place of birth.

Presumably you have since noticed the overlap between Birthers and Truthers.

Peter, HP ( Honest Patty) denies her birther posts from last year.
Yes indeed she was a birther then, and a birther now. Look at her response to my asking her last week.

Scroll down for the video of Patty’s political sister:

  3. Pinky/Peter: I am vaguely curious as to why Obama doesn’t just pull out his birth certificate and end the controversy. But not enough to research. the birther controversy is entertainment – everyone loves a mystery — but it’s too hysterical at this point and it doesn’t interest me.

You’re right, I was interested (very) in Obama’s birth, schooi records, work history, etc. when he was running for President. I think he was poorly vetted.

But that was then. This is now.

How are the Palin rumors going, Pinky?

  4. Patty,

LOL The Obama Birth certificate was produced.
Then another one was produced by your birthers…. a kenyan one from Austrailia.

What Palin rumours- that she would be faced with new ethic charges- the news ones she IS faced with since her abrupt resignation– just as I predicted. The other rumour- the more salacious one, be patient Patty, be patient.

  5. ""You’re right, I was interested (very) in Obama’s birth, schooi records, work history, etc. when he was running for President. I think he was poorly vetted""

yes I am right, you were a birther then and now.
Anyway, glad you brought up the above again. Do you and did you demand the same documentation of all US Presidents?

  6. Not that I have a dog in this fight, but other US presidents tended to live their lives in the USA or on US military bases.

Obama had a Kenyan father and was then adopted by an Indonesian man and was a permanent resident of Jakarta Indonesia and attended Indonesian elementary schools under a name that was not Barack Obama. How many other US presidents came from that set of circumstance?

How could there have been an issue with any other president, even conceptually? ( For the sake of argument will leave out John McCain, who was born in the Panama Canal Zone, regarded as US territory )

  7. Pinky/Peter: the birther controversy is an entertainment show put on by networks like MSNBC that need 24/7 programming. I have sympathy for the producer trying to provide so much low cost programming, but I have no interest in the topic. Seriously. It’s right up there with these missing children mysteries that captivate the news cycle. Everyone likes a mystery. Including me. And I have real sympathy for the actual people. But there is a limit to how much discussion can be spent. It’s just dull.

Let’s go back to your trip to Havana, Pinky! That kills me! Will you be visiting a health clinic? like Michael Moore? or a prison? will you be wearing a "Che" shirt?

  8. Pinky: I just read that the Health Care Bill will support abortion, and euthanasia!

Is this fishy? Are you going to report me to the White House?

  9. You can stock up on toilet paper, soap and vitamins to give to desperately poor Cubans at the local CVS store. Some canned food will earn karma credits also.

  10. Annie Coulter, Billy O’Reilly and National Review have all labeled the birther controversy ridiculous, so I suspect even Patty has moved on.

  11. Viva la Revolucion!

And where is that damned waiter when we need him anyway?

    I’m parched.

  12. You mean to tell me that you don’t have San Pelligrino? What type of an island are you running here anyway? Lets go to Sardinia next year

  13. Pinky: "Do you and did you demand the same documentation of all US Presidents?"

This is actually an interesting question. In my memory, Obama is the first US President to have a Press completely enamored with his every word. Until Obama, I assumed that there was some journalistic digging going on — if the question wasn’t asked about a birth certificate it was because it already had been vetted.

The prob. with Obama is that the Press – by and large – gave him a pass. Rather than vet him properly, they pushed controversies under the rug, and stifled questions by falsely citing "racism" etc. at every opportunity.

That is probably why today the Birther thing has legs. People just don’t feel that Obama put all of his cards on the table. Many people don’t trust him. Is he tricking us? or telling the truth? we just don’t know. Why is the birth certificate off limits? what is he hiding? etc. etc.

Now, don’t go telling on me to the White House!

Or, maybe you should…it would be to Obama’s benefit (and the country’s benefit) if he said what he meant and meant what he said and stopped people from wondering if he was lying, or hiding something.

  14. Whatever the founding fathers’ skills, they did not extend to punctuation. If you read the provision literally, no-one is eligible to be President unless they were a citizen in 1788. As one wag but it, even senator Byrd would struggle to qualify.

  16. Patty

McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, but I don’t recall Rightworld demanding proof of his right to run last year. And the msm gave him a bye-ball on that as well as accepting his war-hero status without question. Of course the lunatic fringe of Rightworld claimed that the man was not a hero but a military failure, and a traitor to the constitution because of his support for reform of campaign finance.

Nice try Patty, trying to distance yourself from the birthr crap that is in your heart. YOU are the only one that I know of who posted from the BIRTHER viewpoint on this blog Yes or no?

My trip to Havanna with my family will be womderful, as usual. Wear a Che T-Shirt- with Mommy jeans:-)?
I’ll leave that fashion style to the svelte American ladies. ๐Ÿ™‚

My family leave Friday for their now annual trip to New Orleans; with volunteer Irish workers, thousands of dollars of materials, bought with the money they find raise for all year round- to help rebuild homes for Americans abandoned by their own. What is it you and Phantom do again with your spare time? I seemed to have missed both your answers on that.

Phantom, the day I have to take ‘charitable ‘ advice from the likes of you, is the day I’ll lock my door and stay at home. You, as usual, are rather clueless about this topic.

Oh ‘cocktail hour’ is approaching, night now.

  18. I don’t pat myself on the back in public forums for the charitable contributions I make or the work that I do. Could never see the point of that, and find it rather disgusting and cheap.

I will mention charities I like only when I raise money for them, as I did here a while back. Otherwise, run silent, run deep.

It is noted that while there have been numbers of Cubans who have escaped their tropical home to move to New Orleans you don’t hear of any cases of the reverse. There is vastly greater poverty in Cuba than in Louisiana, but you’ll never see that from a four star hotel in Havana, with the glasses clinking.

  19. As a resident of New Orleans for three years may I suggest:

    1. Igor’s Bar on St. Charles Avenue/Garden District area – decent food, pool tables, laundry machines, sidewalk cafe, cold beer and diverse patrons.

    2. Rock n’ Bowl – Bowling, drinking and live bands.

    3. Fat Harry’s – Napoleon Avenue and St. Charles intersection. Uptown New Orelans.

    4. Pete O’Briens – I know I know, tourist abound, but the Hurricanes are good and the outdoor patio sublime. And it is in the French Quarter.

    5. Napoleon House – French Quarter, good cheesse board, and perfect mixed drinks.

  20. "I don’t pat myself on the back in public forums for the charitable contributions I make or the work that I do. Could never see the point of that, and find it rather disgusting and cheap."

    Agree.

  21. They said McCain isn’t a natural born US citizen, either. What’s our fascination with distractions? Criminal wars, bailouts for criminals, ignoring war crimes, blah blah blah we have plenty to be discontent about, folks.

Does a puppy and Abe Lincoln make Obama as the Joker more appealing?

    Why So Socialist?

I see that Bill Bratton has resigned as Los Angeles Police Commisioner. He certainly did good work in NY – any comments on his tenure in LA?

  23. Pinky,

"What is it you and Phantom do again with your spare time? I seemed to have missed both your answers on that. "

Patty and Phantom will not pat themselves on the back for their charitable contributions, so allow me to do it for them. I recently looked for sponsorship for a charity cycle thing and both Phantom and Patty were kind enough to each drop a significant chunk of change – DV and Pete too (sorry if I forgot anybody).

Considering all the food fights over the years that was quite something, and much appreciated by me.

Of course I cannot rule out that they just wanted to see me die of exhaustion and muscle cramps on a bike, and on one particular hill half way to Amsterdam (possibly the only hill in Holland), they almost succeeded ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Frank: "food fights"

You are one of the best debaters here and a gentleman, to boot. I would never wish you so much as a scratch much less a muscle spasm, or the inability to bike over a hill! — although an actual cream pie fight might be fun ๐Ÿ™‚

Seriously, please forgive any of my words misspoken in anger that might have caused any pain.

  25. Phantom: Sorry to see Bratton go. Crime is down thanks to his tenure, and I believe he fixed some of the Mexican/Black/White gang and police tensions here.

  26. He made a huge contribution in New York.

The guy knows how to lead. When he took control of the NYPD, I remember him saying specifically " We will go in harms way " . He, and the men he led, did just that, and they enacted huge postiive change in a really short time.

In LA the job was somewhat tougher in that the city is so vast and the police force not as large.

We could use a few more just like him.
