I doubt anyone has lain on their deathbed in regret at not speaking their mind. Quite the opposite.
But that pertains to when we choose to speak. I’m a big fan of discretion, of not saying anything. It’s having an Irish mother who couldn’t stop herself from bombarding my teenage self when a new girlfriend was around. “Yes, I know you’re curious, but do you have to ask?” Sometimes the art of pretending not to notice is a fine one. It helps the world go round.
In the end your opinions and words are yours and belong to you alone. If you share them, make sure the audience knows exactly what you think.
