No, Trump hasn’t announced he is going to pull a Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner. But he has thrown the Vice President under the bus stating Mike Pence has similar conversations with Ukraine. That means both men could technically face impeachment.

Rightwingers often think the Constitution has only two amendments. If they read further they will find te part about Presidential succession. Guess who is next in line if Trump and Pence were concurrently impeached. You got it, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi.

The Horror.

Now, I have taken the position that based on what is known to date Trump should not be impeached (even though I’m not certain his conduct doesn’t rise to a technically impeachable offense). I assure you the Senate will not see it as an impeachable offense (yet). And wiping out Pence with Trump to result in the odious Pelosi making it to the White House would stiffen their resolve.

It would also wreck havoc in the Country if a Party lost the White House due to an impeachment, except on the most egregious grounds. Nixon’s horrendous Agnew was out and replaced by a likeable Ford before Tricky Dick departed.

Trump is clearly turning Chicken Kiev, and his synchophants are not doing him or the country any good. Even Pence has got to be a bit perturbed. A fine mess they’ve gotten us into. I wonder, would Pelosi pardon them?

  1. lmao….. that’s rich…..

What we have here is a situation that instead of hurting Trump, Pence or anyone with an R. Nope what we have here is the elimination of Joe Biden as a candidate and Warren’s ascendancy to the nomination……

That’s what this will bring about.

  2. I assure you the Senate will not see it as an impeachable offense (yet).

Surely you mean ever? The GOP has been totally captured by Trump and it would take 20 GOP senators to vote for impeachment to get rid of the jerk. Trump has a free pass from these groupies to do as he pleases, and he knows it.

  3. More Trump-GOP lies have been exposed, this time from Ukraine:

“Ukraine’s former Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has categorically rejected claims by Donald Trump concerning Mr Trump’s Democratic rival Joe Biden. Mr Trump has alleged, without evidence, that Mr Biden pressed for the sacking of a Ukrainian prosecutor to protect a business that employed his son. Mr Klimkin told the BBC that the prosecutor was sacked for corruption. A number of Western bodies, including the EU, had pushed for the prosecutor, Viktor Shokin, to be sacked, he said.”

  4. Peter – the Senators will go with the prevailing wind. At the moment that wind in their party base is for Trump. And the muddied waters by Biden give sufficient political cover for them. But if it gets worse I could see them being swayed. Frankly, there aren’t too many profiles in courage among the Democrats either.

  5. This is a good (Brit) analysis of the gamble the Democrats are taking with impeachment:

“Where the Russia collusion case was always opaque and multi-faceted and ultimately too tricky for prime time, the Ukraine shenanigans have the feel of something crunchier. The Democrats, if the facts are revealed to be roughly as reported so far, would have to seize the moment. With what hope of success? On the face of it: none. The Republicans have a 53-to-47 seat advantage in the Senate. Two thirds of Senators are required to confirm impeachment. Even if one or two (Senator Mitt Romney is an obvious candidate) decided to stick it to the Donald, it would not be enough. Mr Trump will not be removed from office as a result of this action.

Not removed from office, and with his base fired up. Yes: folks, it’s Bill Clinton all over again. Impeached in the House of Representatives, with the case thrown out by the Senate. And in the mid-term elections held during the Clinton circus in 1998: his party gained support. In fact the biggest loser was Newt Gingrich, the Republican Speaker of the House who fought hardest for the president to lose his job. Mr Gingrich, defeated in that aim, lost his…

There is another outcome, though, and it’s more subtle than America’s bitter political arguments generally allow. It is possible that the Democrats could use the televised hearings that impeachment will bring about to persuade the nation that this is not a witch-hunt; that their actions are not governed by politics but by a gallant defence of The American Way. They wanted the Trump presidency to be successful, they would have to say. They understand why people voted for him and respect their decisions. But this corruption is not right. This is not American. And in your heart of hearts you people who voted for him last time know what is right. We trust you and we want to talk seriously to you. Impeachment, then, not as attack but as healing device. The denouement would be a loss of office in the time-worn way, at the polls in 2020.”

  6. The White House’s vault of non-classified calls with foreign leaders that were hidden because they might embarrass Trump are going to be a shit show when they get released, and no inquiry will be sufficient or complete without them.

I keep wondering if the damage gets bad enough for Trump (polling/public opinion % in favor of impeachment) when senate republicans who despise him decide to cast him off in favor of president Pence. The senate GOP loves Pence, Trump not so much.

I could see Cruz sinking a sharp knife in his back.

  7. On a personal note, I’ve been locked in my house with a small, hispanic man of limited english ability (twelve words, maybe) who’s replacing the mold soaked drywall caused by a bad A/C installation last year. Idiots forgot to seal the vent boxes.

He loves listening to evangelical preachers on the radio. The preachers bellow in deep southern drawls for a few minutes, then a spanish speaking man blasts out a translation. I’ve been quietly giggling and going insane for the past seven hours.

I’m also well into a bottle of Jack Daniels at a quarter to four this afternoon.

  8. Phantom, it would be the one move by Cruz that might redeem his other while pointless tenure as a senator.

  9. It isn’t impossible that Rudy Giuliani, once one of the most respected figures in American public life, could be disbarred for his activities in the service of a criminal as respects Ukraine.

  10. I will never understand why Rudy chose to go down this road.

Put aside Ukraine for a second.

After the significant, difficult, things that Rudy has accomplished – he has put himself in the service of a no good bum, someone not fit to shine the shoes of the Mayor Giuliani that I recall so clearly.

  11. Pompeo has been subpoenaed.

But he will lie for Trump, surely?

    Rudy could go to prison

Nah, the schmuck will be home free when his boss wins a second term. That’s assuming he’s charged.

Rudolph W. Giuliani, whose actions as President Trump’s personal lawyer have helped set in motion an impeachment inquiry, is set to appear as a paid speaker at a Kremlin-backed conference in Armenia on Tuesday — an event expected to include the participation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and other top Russian officials.

Giuliani confirmed to The Washington Post on Friday that he plans to take part in a panel at the conference sponsored by Russia and the Moscow-based Eurasian Economic Union, a trade alliance launched by Putin in 2014 as a counterweight to the European Union.

According to an agenda for the event posted online, Giuliani is set to participate in a panel led by Sergey Glazyev, a longtime Putin adviser who has been under U.S. sanctions since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine five years ago.

    ( Washington Post )

    Where’s my Roy Cohn?

  13. Sounds like a great gig for Rudy’s new persona…

  14. This is basically like if Epstein’s lawyers had decided to hold a press conference at a Build-A-Bear Workshop.

  15. Roy Cohn was the greatest influence on the young Donald Trump.

You cannot possibly understand Donald Trump without understanding Roy Cohn. The style, the personal dishonesty, they’re all Cohn.

There’s a new documentary about Cohn.

  16. NYT reports that NRA could be willing to bankroll some of Trump’s impeachment defense if Trump opposes gun control legislation.

    JFC.

  17. An impeachment attempt based on these facts will lead to Trump’s reelection. We must vote out this most unfit of Presidents.

  18. I agree.

If the Dems were smart ( they are not ) they would be the party of governance.

Guys like Rep. Nadler have wasted months focusing on impeachment instead of trying to get anything done for the benefit of his district and city.

If impeached, Trump will portray himself as some sort of victim, and the mob will believe him.
    And he won’t be removed.

    Remove him on Election Day.

  19. I’m all for voting him out and maybe we’ll still get that option, but it’s out of our control now.

  20. An impeachment process during the primary election season will be the greatest gift imaginable to Trump, a great nightmare for the country.

He’s a criminal, a bum, a traitor, a skel, a shirker, everyone in the country knows that, and they’ve known it since Day One.

But if you attack the king, you’d better make sure that you get him. And there’s no reason to think that they will.

  21. Yes. I suppose you are right. Who among the Democratic candidates or members of Congress can stop it? And who among the Republicans would challenge Trump on this?

  22. Uh Oh, Rudy tells cnn he’s no longer going to the Putin conference. Wonder why?

Putin must have cancelled the invite. Who wants to be seen with a totally discredited loser like Rudy?

  23. An impeachment attempt based on these facts will lead to Trump’s reelection.

Maybe, but the Ukraine episode cannot be ignored. It’s easy to see Trump mocking the Democrats as chickens if they don’t go for impeachment now.

I’m not sure of the timescale, but they should go for it asap so that it’s a done deal by January. That way the Trump sleaze will be established as the keynote to the campaign. Ukraine, sleaze, lies, sleaze, more lies, more sleaze etc. Just keep hammering the undeniable truth which is that this POTUS is a corrupt sleazy lying schmuck. Every day between now and November 2020. It might not work but it’s a good shot. Along with a positive programme of course. I would suggest 70% positive progamme, 30% Trump corrupt sleazeball.

  24. There is a lot here to address this will be in stages…..

  25. Now I’m not going to address all the nonsense on here because I understand that most of you actually believe this nonsense but that’s your choice. I will address the Cruz issue.

  26. If the house votes for impeachment and it passes the senate will go along with it they kinda of have to, it could be politically explosive not to and not many of this group have a spine.

It would be handled by the Senate Justice committee which is headed by Lindsay Graham. Once in the Senate they hold the hearing. The Senate is controlled by the Republicans once they open the hearing they can and will take it in any direction they want.

The first place they’ll take it is to the Biden’s and it will expand from there to John Kerry and his and Whitey Bulger’s son and the 1.5 Billion those 3 were paid by the chicoms all of course for the necessary background.

now I’ll go into one more piece.

  27. Today the wicked witch of the west declared a “Pre-investigation” for impeachment and took the hearings away from Jaba Nadler and handed it to her flying monkey the bobble head Schiff… his committee will now be handling the hearings….

Here is the first obstacle that will be thrown at them…. they will start the hearing and they will issue subpoenas…. the subpoenas will be immediately challenged in court…. they have no legal standing to issue subpoenas for an impeachment investigation. At this point no one does….

There is that damn pesky old document the constitution again…. damn ain’t it a bitch that there are Laws and Procedures that have to be followed.

Before any impeachment investigation hearings begin you have to actually be investigating for an impeachment and for that you first have to actually have a vote…. at least that’s what that pesky old set of rules says….. it does not mean they will follow it.

They held a special counsel investigation with no originating crime that trick had never been done before you’d think they learn with the wonderful results that brought. You may not want to admit it, and the democrats definitely don’t but in the eyes of the Law and the people they lost that round and lost it badly.

I say bring it on the house just took a two week break….. they expect the Impeachment to begin by Oct 31st, but they get nothing without a vote….

There are very specific rules to the handling of an Impeachment and they’re trying to sidestep them…. lets see how far they get.

  28. Cruz and Trump have made up they’ve been playing very nice, but you wouldn’t know that either. What I see is a Constitutional battle that’s right up Cruz’s ally….. a chance to beat idiots up with the constitution….

Cruz was second in the Primary now he couldn’t beat the beast, but save Trump, destroy a few dems….. in 5yrs he’d be hard to beat running for President…. there’s a different angle.

  29. We have no idea what will emerge from the impeachment investigations. It is not beyond possible more evidence of using other foreign governments and their agents to steal the 2020 election will come to light. If that does happen, what senator would not vote for conviction? Americans do not like foreign powers selecting our leaders.

In some ways the secreted transcripts resemble Nixon’s tapes. The revelation of Nixon’s tapes set off a stampede that resulted in Nixon’s hurried departure. For the most part the senior Republicans who told Nixon it was time to go were reacting to the fury of their constituents largely caused by what the tapes showed was really going on in the Nixon administration.

  30. and there is the democrat wet dream…

It is not beyond possible more evidence of using other foreign governments and their agents to steal the 2020 election will come to light.

It’s the same logic that we just went through for over two years with the special counsel. They don’t have any crime, but if they dig deep enough well by gum they just might find something……

That’s not how this works, this will be the second time that Trump will be presumed guilty until a reason can be found to actually charge him….

And I’m convinced you’re all going to get what you want you’ll get your impeachment vote and possibly even some hearing time

In the mean time while all this is going on and you’re giddy as a school girl indictments with real evidence f real crimes will be being handed down to people like Yates, Comey, McCabe etc

So as we go into a presidential election with the best employment numbers since 1969 with record breaking levels of all time for minorities with crooked cops going to jail for trying to throw an election for hillary clinton while the democrat house has not passed a single bill for immigration, infrastructure, healthcare, the homeless problem, instead it has been a nonstop clown show of unconstitutional fishing trips into the President…..

you really have no idea the contempt the general public is feeling towards the democrats right now. If Mueller had found something the public would have backed Trumps removal but he cleared him. Even if you don’t think so joe blue collar does and they feel that should have ended it, but it intensified it and it has become both a laughable and frightening spectacle. They accuse Trump again over and over of imaginary crimes based on innuendo and gossip while blatant payoffs and misuse of power by democrat politicians and their families are above common law…..

They and you for the majority can’t taste he contempt in the air…. it’s going to be an interesting year and a great election.

  31. Mahons: “That means both men could technically face impeachment.”

    Nonsense.

Trump has acted in accord with the law as passed by Congress and signed into law by a ‘Democrat’ president.

  32. I would question whether or not the Presidential Succession Act, putting the Speaker and the President pro tem in the line of succession, is constitutional or not. The constitution says that “Congress may by Law provide for the Case of Removal, Death, Resignation or Inability, both of the President and Vice President, declaring what Officer shall then act as President”. The Speaker, and the President pro tem, are not Officers of the United States. So likely, upon the inability of the President or Vice President to continue, the Presidency will fall to Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State.

  33. Mahons is right…. that is the order of succession….. the only variance in that is if the President was incapacitated and the vice president was’t immediately able to take control until the change of power takes place the Sec of State holds the football

but Mahons is correct on succession

  34. The Democrats want to impeach a president for trying to expose a crime, and then elect the person who committed the crime.

You can’t make this stuff up!

  35. That is what the law says on succession. However that law may, if ever put into force, be unconstitutional. Because the constitution states only an Officer of the United States may be in the line of succession for the Presidency. And the Speaker, and President pro tem, aren’t Officers of the United States.

  36. There is nothing to suggest Joe Biden committed any crime. There is plenty to suggest that Donald Trump colluded with a foreign government against a potential rival.

  37. I’m also not the only person waiting for the bombs to go off

    https://www.americanthinker.com/blog/2019/09/dems_impeachment_frenzy_is_the_prelude_to_the_coming_time_bombs_about_to_explode_in_their_faces.html

Lost in all the frenzy over impeachment — sparked by the Deep State leaker posing as a “whistleblower” (passing along hearsay does not qualify for protection under whistleblower statutes) — is the trio of ticking time bombs that Democrats know are about to detonate in their faces.

The three time bombs have names: Horowitz, Huber, and Durham. When the Department of Justice inspector general issues his report, then John Huber and John Durham, the U.S. attorneys tasked with investigating crimes suspected in the Clinton Foundation; Uranium One; and the FISA warrants used to spy on the Trump campaign, transition, and presidency will be free to start seeking indictments, or to unseal indictments that may have already been issued by their grand juries. The reports and the unleashing of the two U.S. attorneys are coming soon, as those mentioned in the I.G. report are currently submitting their responses for inclusion in the final report.

We have an admission by Biden on tape what have they got on Trump ?

  39. “We have an admission by Biden on tape what have they got on Trump ?”

No you don’t. You have Biden talking about how he helped negotiate a policy to the benefit of the United States.

In terms of Trump? His own White House released a transcript where he asked a foreign leader to look into the case.

  40. lmao….. how he helped negotiate a deal that was done……

Negotiations were finished the money approved and was being delivered…. and yes it’s an electronic transfer but there are signatures needed for the final transfer that is all Biden was authorized to do, he wasn’t authorized to continue negotiations.

If he was Seamus there is a document trail that shows that authorization. All he has to do is provide it.

  41. “Biden was authorized to do, he wasn’t authorized to continue negotiations.”

    And you can prove that?

“If he was Seamus there is a document trail that shows that authorization. All he has to do is provide it.”

That’s not how crime works. You have to prove he didn’t have it.

  42. The news is getting worse for Trump hourly. So bad the House may have no choice but to press ahead. What was he thinking?

  43. The most recent thing that you made up was the assertion that Biden had no authority to negotiate anything

But the day is young, I’m sure there will be more such comment

  46. There is no Joe Biden controversy on this

This is all Alex Jones Trumper. nonsense

A more valid criticism Can be made of his worthless son Hunter Biden having a job like that in a corrupt country like that, and for Joe Biden being fine with it

  47. De nile is not a river in egypt………

Phantom you can’t be serious you’re even contradicting yourself from the beginning of the thread…. The APPEARANCE of impropriety is what the Law says and there APPEARS to be a lot of circumstantial evidence of a bribe and black mail.

It’s never been investigated by the FBI and even if it had it would be suspect because the entire management of the justice system is soon to be under indictment for falsifying evidence, but there was never an investigation so now there can be.

Why did Hunter Biden get a job at the Ukranian oil company for 600 grand a year when A) he has no experience in the Oil Business and B) no experience in business administration, and C) doesn’t even speak the Language. So why did they hire him while his father was negotiating with them and what were the duties of his job to earn the money.

Then when Joe Biden is running negotiations with china Biden’s son, Kerry’s son, and Whitey Bulger’s son form a partnership in a consulting investment company that the chicoms give 1.5 billion to….. why, and where’s the money, what was it invested in ?

It ALL has the appearance of impropriety the legal basis for an investigation…..

The FBI has not done one, why ?

If that all looks legit to you….. please share whatever it is your drinking….

  48. and the chicom deal Hunter flew on AF2 with him to negotiate so there is no denying he knew.

  49. Hunter Biden is a worthless bum. I’ve said this here several times. You should look up whoever was supposed to teach you the English language in school and have them put into prison for dereliction of duty.

There is no evidence that Joe Biden committed any crime, Or that he acted outside his authority in any way.

Hunter Biden was expelled from the Navy for his cocaine use

He had zero qualifications for his $500,000 a year job in Ukraine, Other than that his father was a big American politician.

  51. Bulger’s brother was a high ranking and educated MA politician who was no criminal

It is monstrously unfair to tie him —or his children—to Whitey Bulger

But that’s what you just did

  52. And you should learn to read yourself before you criticize anyone.

The Law says the APPEARANCE of Impropriety…..

There is ample appearance that hunter got both these jobs because his last name was Biden and no other reason WHILE his father was negotiating with BOTH countries…. that is EXACTLY the situation the Law was written for. Biden’s son getting the job APPEARS to be a bribe to Biden during negotiations… the LAW demands the FBI investigate… they didn’t… Why NOT ?

Do you support indicting Crooked Jared and Crooked Ivanka?

Or are they immune from the law

His family, to the extent that they work/worked in the government or in the campaign, is fair game, including crooked Jared, and crooked Donald Jr.

Yes he was distracted. How easy it is to distract him.

I’m sure that he has never thought of his pardon powers, even though he wrote about them only yesterday.

He’d never pardon Jared Kushner, no never.

There is 100% proof of attempted collusion, by how Trump Junior, Managort and by Jared Kushner

There is 100% proof that the Trump administration and President Trump personally lied about this over an extended period of time

I could continue all day but I think that makes the point mr hypocrite.

  62. You haven’t proven any point

You haven’t linked to the discussion

  63. I think the democrats will expose a lot of shit about the turnip administration and vote for impeachement. It’s a truth or dare moment and they are daring the Senate to do their job or be partisan hacks

If they are partisan hacks they will use it to leverage the Senate elections and take both houses

  64. so you agree they have yet to find a crime….. but you’re ok with them just fishing for one…. stay on your side of the border and worry about Al Jolson running your country….

  65. The Democrats want to impeach a president for trying to expose a crime

What crime would that be? The corrupt Ukrainian prosecutor was dismissed for corruption with the support of the EU among others. There is no evidence of a crime by either Joe Biden or his son. You are wanting to do just what you accuse the Democrats of doing – digging for dirt.
