    Was it a good or bad thing having a birthday so close to Christmas when you were young?

11. Yes, hope you had a Happy Birthday Noel. I guess for a child it can be a blessing and a curse. You can get treated specially as its your birthday too, but you can also feel cheated as the Day is just about your birthday and you can feel that you have been robbed of having 2 present days as most children have.

    Anyway, its a good job our Noel wasn’t borh the day before. Boys can feel a bit uncomfortable going through life with the name Eve 🙂

    I had to live with the annual joke that I was the only Christmas present my mother ever received that she wasn’t able to bring back when the shops opened again.

    Generally, Dave, it was good. The festive season and spirit carries on till NYEve and people are still in the mood for giving and for celebrating etc. It also makes it easy to remember. My sister had a BD in November and it was always being forgotten.

    There was also the added benefit that the stores were closed and, after forgetting to get something in the Christmas rush, people had to resort to cash presents to hide their embarrassment. There was never any free money in our house, and I can still remember the delightful feel of real banknotes in your hand, and all yours.
