What are you on about Richard? LOL Richard, nice one. Sorry! I’m a bit slow today:) Samuel, check the "a reflective thought" string from yesterday…a bit of an in-joke Do those slot machines in UK ever drive ye nuts… Its one of the better things about pubs in the ROI, that these monstrosities are not allowed in…. that and the smoking ban Mines a pint of the black stuff while your at it richard, and turn up the music on the juke box, I can hear the damn thing I would turn up the jukebox, but not everyone likes Elvis Costello Is there a smoking ban *ducks* Aileen: I’ve been in pubs in NI that seemed to have two sections: smoking and chain smoking. We don’t see too many facts actually supporting ‘the habit’. I noticed this quote, which may do something to ease the concience, or guilt of those who enjoy the ocasional puff. Gives a certian validity to the adage that, "He who laughs last, laughs longest". My Grandparents, all heavy smokers, all lived to a ripe old age, and particularly the ladies, all had minds like razors…no wandering off into a mental mist for them gals! A quote from Numberwatch: "Only recently, (18/02/2007), and for the second time, a senior NHS consultant had confirmed the observation that, on visits to old people’s homes, the cognitive ability of smokers is glaringly superior to that of non-smokers. Presumably the new legislation will condemn many of the elderly to earlier dementia, as well as a miserable life’s end." After suffering under Nu-Labour, the end might not be quite as miserable as the author supposes! — or is Tony trying to emulate God by sending us all mad before claiming our souls? http://www.numberwatch.co.uk/2007%20February.htm#fakery Aileen: I’ve been in pubs in NI that seemed to have two sections: smoking and chain smoking. ROFL! Youre a card. Richard Carey: are you sure it’s not turn left at the straw man? Surely you also have to creep quietly into the ‘Dhimmi lounge’ so as not to upset the you-know-whats. Can we restrict the weemen to the snug and behind the counter David ? You know it makes sense! notme, I’m sure if you leave ATW and keep going to the left, you’ll find "The Straw Man". Ask Frank, it’s one of his favourites. re: smoking ban, I’ve heard the pubs in Ireland smell pretty bad now there’s no smoke to cover it up. "Can we restrict the weemen to the snug and behind the counter David ?" … and leave the men in the smug! Don’t be bitter dear – you know it’s for best! Richard, "I’m sure if you leave ATW and keep going to the left, you’ll find "The Straw Man". Ask Frank, it’s one of his favourites." I fear you overestimate Notme’s ability to tell right from left. Aileen Poor old Mad is plagiarising my comments on the ‘reflective thoughts’ thread. Did Aileen see what you wrote about her on that thread ? Mad Of course, she reads every wise and wonderful I write – and she loves me for it 🙂 richard hope you dont mind but ive nicked this pic Alison, fine, I won’t ask what for. Comments are closed.
