Tom Daschle joins Tim Geither as the second Obama cabinet appointee who seems to have discovered that he hasn’t paid all of his taxes.   Daschle’s unpaid taxes included unreported income for consulting fees (83k) and for private use of a car service (128k).  He amended his tax returns and has paid them, as has Geither.

Would either have “discovered” their “mistakes” had they not been in consideration for a cabinet post?  Sure, and I’ve got a Bridge in Brooklyn you might be interested in buying.

Leona Helmsley, a rich witch convicted of tax evasion, once said “Taxes are for the little people.”  Maybe she meant leprachuns.   Timmy and Tommy, are not starting off on the right foot.

  1. Daschele has always annoyed me, but the fact that he hasn’t paid his taxes will make no never mind I mean cmon he’s there for the good of the people to usher in universal healthcare that hasn’t worked any where.

Mahons as a decent man does it ever bother you that you belong to a party where ethics is of very low importants.

I mean when the right finds corruption and impropriaty we drum them out and the media goes on a witch hunt.

I’m just curious about how as man of ethics yourself the lack of anyone in your party being held to any sits with you?

  2. usher in universal healthcare that hasn’t worked any where.

    Any proof?

Or is it the same as your fantasy oil reserves.

Links to both would be appreciated.

  3. yeah people dying in england before they can get their procedures and the flood of canadians that cross the border to recieve their medical care in the us

  4. Daschle’s unpaid taxes included unreported income for consulting fees (83k) and for private use of a car service (128k).

It’s really amazing how forgetful people get when it comes to declaring their income. I hope he didn’t forget to deduct all valid expenses.

  5. Troll – the leaders of either party have not been blessed with an abudance of ethics. The right has hardly drummed out those among them whose ethical lapses have arisen.

Sadly, a lack of ethics has often seemed to go hand in hand with those who ascend in either party.

  6. ahh who in the Republican party has not been driven out or lost position for ethical breaches?

  7. Ha! As if Bob Ney, Tom Delay, andRandy Cunningham where driven out of Congress by the right. Asif Bush Cabinet appointees Linda Chavez,Alberto Gonzalez, Gale Norton, Bernie Kerik and Mel Martinez where exposed by the right.

Alaska has been a Republican Ethical Cesspool for generations (I exempt the current Governor).

New York Republican leader Joe Bruno has just been indcited after years of running Albany like it was his personal bank.

Ethic violations cut across party lines. Suprised you don’t know that.

  8. yeah tripper drill here drill now!

Drill where and for how much of what?

Youre so confident, I assume you must have some proof.

  9. The saintly Caroline dipped out of the Senate race as she was about to be ‘outed’ for not paying taxes for her immigrant nanny!

    ‘Little people’ indeed!

  10. D.T.,

    ‘Drill here. Drill now.’

I’m guessing he’s thinking of trepanation. You know, just to rid himself of all that cranial pressure.

Do it a few times and, what do you know but, soon enough you build up a full set of white draught pieces…

  11. He has avoided posting his proof for massive US oil reserves on three occasions now. It seems that it was all just hot air.

  12. D.T.,

Are you suggesting that, rather than black gold, Troll’s drilling his head for gas?

  13. Are you suggesting that, rather than black gold, Troll’s drilling his head for gas?

Im just suggesting he put his paste buffer where his qwerty keyboard is.

  14. Don’t be so childish Troll. You can debate your points with daytripper without having to use that stupid abusive name for him.

  15. Daytripper

I doubt that troll is actually serious about the US oil reserves. I think that he has realised that he was wrong, but is too proud to admit it.

We’ll coax an apology out of him yet!

  16. ah, it quotes Palin on energy. Whatever sliver of integrity it had is gone.

    Troll;

You seem to not understand the difference between oil shale (which contains no actual oil) and conventional oil.

The writer(s) claim that some kerogen shale deposite in Montana and North Dakota is nearly 4 times bigger than Ghawar! They have zero understanding of oil extraction at all.

The Alberta tar sands (which do at least contain oil) will become fairly significant, but certainly will, at its best, not even produce half of what Ghawar or Burgan do.

  17. Oh, and troll, i thought that you believe in the abiotic oil theory. How can you explain the existence of kerogen shale then? A bit of a coincidence, eh?

  18. oh god OK I’ll be nice to tripper

but I am sorry your all wrong the us has oil enogh for a couple of hundred years and that’s not counting shale or coal conversion.

do you think the chinese are coming half way across the world to drill in the gulf of mexico because there is no oil.

The only thing keeping the US from being Oil independant are the lawyers and the environmental wackos

  19. Troll

I’m not asking you to be nice to him. Tear the s**t out of his arguments by all means, but don’t call him dateraper. It is a level of personal abuse that correspondents on ATW should not sink to.

  20. ‘your all wrong the us has oil enogh for a couple of hundred years and that’s not counting shale or coal conversion.’

Damn, sorry, i have been reading books again.

‘chinese are coming half way across the world to drill in the gulf of mexico because there is no oil.’

Ya. There is very little oil left to be found in the world. There is some to be found farther out in the Gulf, but not much.

Why are the Chinese drilling in Chad, do you think Chad has as much oil as America?

‘US from being Oil independent are the lawyers and the environmental wackos’

You are missing one — reality.

But thanks for saying that you are sorry!

  21. correction: The Chinese are not drilling in Chad, but Sudan. They do however want to build a pipeline to Chad’s southern oil fields and have been funding the Arab millitas that have been crossing the borders into Chad and causing general mayhem.

China is doing what the yanks and ruskies done for most of the last century, overthrowing Governments and funding shady, corrupt war-lords. They seem terribly interested in securing as much oil as they can.

Troll, the Chinese appear to know something about oil that you don’t.
