Looks like we have a little bother in not quite so gay Paris..

“Crowds of youths (LOL….that word again!!!!) have thrown stones at French police and set fire to cars in a second night of disturbances in the Paris suburb of Trappes. The trouble was sparked by the arrest of a man whose wife was told by police on Thursday to remove an Islamic face-covering veil, banned in public. He has been accused of trying to strangle the officer.

Up to 300 people attacked a police station in Trappes on Friday night where the man was being held. One leading Muslim group disputed the authorities’ version of events, blaming police “provocation”. The suspect, described as a Muslim convert aged 21, was later released on Saturday pending an appearance in court, French media say.

Well, if France will insist on upholding its law against the garb of Islam what else but to expect?

  1. Show no mercy to crime like this, a direct attack on French civilization and law.

  2. Show no mercy to crime like this, a direct attack on French civilization and law

    Absolutely correct response.

Shouldn’t the same approach be used if Michael Adebolajo’s allegations of assault are true?

  3. //Show no mercy to crime like this, a direct attack on French civilization and law.//

But I don’t hear you complaining about riots in China, or Tibet, or Australia, or Russia.

Are you fine with those other riots? 🙂

  4. I oppose riots, but the riots in Tibet ( and East Turkistan / Xinjiang which no one thinks of ) are acts of desperate people under threat of extermination by the Chinese imperialist invader.

I don’t know about Russian riots.

  5. I believe that is a settled matter

C’mon Phantom, you’re normally a fair level – headed guy.

Yesterday you called for people who allegedly broke the law by assaulting someone not only not to be punished but to be rewarded. you also suggested that if criminals had committed the alleged crime they should be rewarded by having their sentences shortened / terminated.

Today you (rightly) call for a straight law & order approach to a law breaker.

A blind man can see the inconsistencies in approach.

  6. I don’t support bans on veils but it is the law and the officer was, (I assume), just doing his duty.

  7. Pete

I wasn’t commenting so much on breaking the veil ban law but on attacking a police officer for doing his duty.

  8. you see this story is the difference between THAT side of the Pond and THIS side of the pond.

If that was an American event it wouldn’t read

    It would read

300 gang members were Killed trying to storm a police station in downtown (fill in blank Detroit, LA, Philly, The Bronx etc) on Friday night. The ruckass started over the arrest of a local gang leader. No police were harmed in this event however the alleged gang leader was also shot while trying to escape.

You don’t attack a police station in the United States and live to tell about it I’m sorry. As violent as we are no group is stupid enough to attack the cops head on. It’s just not done.

    and you call us savages

  9. The French ( and you ) have been way too soft for way too long

And your ” kindness ” has not been appreciated. It has led to much more violence, not less.

  10. “And your ” kindness ” has not been appreciated.”
My suggestion is that the majority of people whether in France or England were never very much in favour of immigration. It was always governments encouraged by liberal agencies who believed it was the right thing to do.
Now you may say that it is still our own fault, we allowed it to happen. However I would say that European electorates (especially the UK) had become so used to their governments ignoring them that they became apathetic.
In the the UK the EDL may have some bad apples but they are at least standing up for what they believe to be right without attacking people. If UKIP continues to grow I expect that there will be an even tougher line taken with immigration. It’s not too late to reimpose our own values, but it may get very messy.

Not really something to be proud of, though a statist will get a certain thrill out of it.

The rapid descent into police state terror over there is easily understood: even the so-called small-government types worship state power.

  12. No Mr. Moore there is nothing statist or police state about it. We pay our cops to be the wall between them and us, and anyone crazy enough to kill a cop or attack a cop is an even greater threat to the average public.

Therefore our police are properly armed and trained to remove such threats , preferably with extreme prejudice
