Osama bin Laden? No. Hugo Chavez? No. Fidel Castro? No.

Try – Betty Williams, Northern Ireland Peace Prize winner, speaking yesterday at the International Women’s Peace Conference in Dallas. She has subsequently apologised for her stupid remark but let’s not fool ourselves, Ms Williams HATES the US President with a zeal. I also think it telling that initially she DENIED making the comment, before apologising for it. She’s a wretch, pure and simple, caught out and forced into an insincere act of contrition.

  1. Our Betty got caught out in a lie did she? This woman is totally stupid with a capital S. She has jumped on the anti Bush band wagon and doesn’t really know or understand what for. To make matters worse she tells these opinions to children and they applaud her. Going to a venue for peace and talking of killing someone.
The woman is a joke. And a tired old one at that.

  2. Yeah, I think she did a runner to the US shortly after getting the peace loot, where as her partner Corrigan gave the money, or some of it,to the peace people. The peace people here don’t have much to do with her. There is definitely a link between Betty making money from peace, and others making money from the war in Iraq or 9/11. Every catastrophe sends out an opportunity for some, and Betty grabed hers with the death of two kids when a car ran into a school on Finaghy Road North.

  3. 2 threats of murder are surely enough to warrant striping someone of a peace accolade.

didnt billy wright get 7 years for that ?

  4. the first threat

On July 24, 2006, while delivering a speech at the Earth Dialogue forums, Williams told school children at the Brisbane City Hall, "I have a very hard time with this word ‘non-violence,’ because I don’t believe that I am non-violent." She went on to say, "Right now, I would love to kill George Bush", blaming him for the deaths of children, particularly in the Middle East. "I don’t know how I ever got a Nobel Peace Prize, because when I see children die the anger in me is just beyond belief. It’s our duty as human beings, whatever age we are, to become the protectors of human life

  5. The Dallas Morning News had this quote from Betty:

‘She said her point was that it is hard to be nonviolent when there are so many atrocities in the world.’

Y’know, in the right light that almost looks like an advocacy for intervention in Afghanistan and Iraq.:)

  6. absolutely mad troll,

the children in the twin towers, not being so pornographicly recored by the BBC and channel 4 – are prehaps not so deserving of her professed outrage.
She shoyuld reflect that it is for the protection of the innocent that the middle east conflict is occouring, and question where the responsibility for fighting in residential areas lies.

surely emotional violent reaction is the hallmark of a savage ?

i said above she could not possibley remain a merited peacenik,
    she now appears barely human.

  7. There is a self-satisfaction among certain people when celebrity stauts goes to their head and they make truly offensive remarks. That seems to be the case here.

  8. Yeah, at least Bush just invades somewhere with crap planning and based on equally crap evidence instead of like, saying something offensive.

  9. I could kill George Bush too. So could anybody on this site — in theory.

There’s a world of difference between rhetoric and deed. Got that, kiddies?

Right now I could murder a small Châteauneuf du Pape. In fact, I think I will.
