  1. Really excellent vlog, Troll. I must say for a greaseball you do speak very well, and coming from a wacko (spelling?) that’s a compliment.
It’s also positively masterful how you can turn so much bullshit content into a lively and entertaining talk!
(but leave off Cait; she has as many "mental resources" as you, and sniping on a public talk is childish of you and tedious for us. It’s also a lie to say, as you did, that she attacked your children).

One problem in your approach is that if you extend definitions as you do, people will naturally feel you are speaking a different political language and no more take you seriously in debate.

For example, to say that taxation is Communist extends the meaning of that term to cover every single party in every state in the world, and every government (whether royal or elected) in, say, Britain since the Middle Ages. That in turn means we have all – including you – voted for and campaigned for Communists and all – including you – support Communism and Marxism at least to some extent.

  2. Greaseball O’Troll –

    Well said.

    Noel Cunningham –

Since the downtrodden peasants and serfs of Middle Ages England (Britain didn’t exist then) paid a tithe of 10% on their produce, can we do the same now? I’m skint by comparison. That tithe went to the Church, by the way, not the government. You’re gonna have to go a long way to persuade me that we have it better now.

Or maybe Napoleon can be declared dead at last and income tax can be abolished.

  3. noel

first of all my vlog is mine I say what I feel is relevent and Cait did bring my children into it Oh I guess bringing up the fact that we homeschool and that I’ll pass on my illiteracy isn’t bringing my kids into it.. So much for your opinion

and yes TAXATION for anything other than defense and public works ie Bridges, Roads and waterways is Communist government socialist not in the constitution bullcrap. It’s government control where it does not belong especially in our pockets.

  4. Noel, I’m amazed at with your weirdly biased take on this. I actually expected better of you and your fair sense of liberal play.

Troll has his take on the world as do you – no foul there, but why are you championing some vicious bitch’s attack on him personally and his family? His point of view wasn’t attacked, his syntax was. If he was black, you would be blasting her to kingdom come, while loudly calling her a racist and a bigot.

Typhoo/cait was way out of the bounds of legitimate argument, she immediately went for the personal attack rather than deal with the topic. She denigrated him and his family personally. That you are backing her vicious personal ad hominem line of attack is beneath you.

You don’t usually play that way Noel, why are you supporting it now?

  5. I’m back to stay Darlin’ Noel – man of my heart. But I will dog your ass to sanity and hold you to gold standards. Words count, right?

  6. Troll – sheer gold dust of a vlog. I like your no-nonsense "say it as you see it" style and words, I liked Monica’s OOV contributions, and I liked the budgies chirping in the background too! (At 4:23 I thought I heard a cat meowing too?)
It’s the perfect illustration of why ATW is the top blog – it’s the "people’s voice" and you can say your bit as you see it, and it lacks nothing in intelligence nor wit for all that. Plus, I always enjoy listening to a bit of good ol’ American straight-talking. It cuts through the toxic, strangulated "politically correct" bullcrap that pervades this country at every level these days.

Daphne, nice to hear that you’re back, too.

  7. Pete,

    >>That tithe went to the Church, by the way, not the government.<<

You’re wrong. Government taxation goes back to the Middle Ages, it’s regulated in the very Magna Carta you are so fond of citing.

But it’s a moot point. Taxation is Communism according to this thread. Regarless of how little it is or how long it has been levied, it’s "Communist government socialist bullcrap" just the same.

    Troll,

    >>Oh I guess bringing up the fact that we homeschool and that I’ll pass on my illiteracy isn’t bringing my kids into it.. So much for your opinion<<

Now you’re trying to wriggle out of it!! I never said she didn’t bring your kids into the debate. You said, as I mentioned above, that she ATTACKED your children. Now you’re backpeddling to "bringing my kids into it" – something totally different.
Why not be a man and admit that you lied and move on.

As for taxation, I see your President + wife earned $720 K last year and paid $221 K in tax. Your Vice President + wife by contrast "earned" more than three times that amount – more than $ 2.5 million, paying just $602 in Communist government socialist bullcrap.

    Daphne, (just saw yours). Thanks.
Go back and read the thread in question if you want to get the full picture. I think Cait’s spelling offensive was very silly (not least coz she makes many spelling mistakes herself). She was also heavy on the ad hominems with many others since you left – a caustic without a cause, as I told her. But Troll distorts things people say for the sake of pathos and sympathy, and that isn’t fair either.

BTW, I suspect you and others misunderstood my first comment here. But it’s 3.30 a.m. and I’m off to bed now. G’nite.

  8. Hey Troll! Nice vlog.

…you need a "Guns ‘N Ammo" calendar in the background for ambiance, or maybe a mildly offensive "Sports Illustrated – Swimsuit Issue" poster, or something,to go with the cigar and mug props! 😉

  9. Noel, he didn’t distort her comments. Our wonderful Troll may hyper-inflate some issues, but he always shoots straight from his point of view. He does not distort what others say. She was beyond rude and way past the bounds of decent conservation. I’m more than concerned that you would find her vile spewage to be a legitimate form of ideological argument.

Nope, I trust that’s not you Noel. I’ve always seen you choose rationality over partisanship. To watch you choose insane vileness over decency, would break my heart.

  10. Noel: "For example, to say that taxation is Communist extends the meaning of that term to cover every single party in every state in the world, and every government (whether royal or elected) in, say, Britain since the Middle Ages."

What is your definition of communism? What is your definition of marxism?
    (seriously)

  11. Troll

That was damned good! The camera likes you. I just love the fact that you smoked the stogie during your talk…just to piss ’em off.

When the technology gets a bit better, maybe we can look forward to a transatlantic split-screen "Crossfire" session with Troll and Cait.

C’mon Cait. I am BEGGING for you to come back now. Pleasepleaseplease.

  12. >>What is your definition of communism? What is your definition of marxism?<<

Patty, difficult to summarise, but it’d be something like: Marxism is the belief that ownership of the means of production (both industry and land when used for profit) must be put into the hands of those who work them.. (and there’s no pussy-footing about it: all private ownership of the means of production is theft – sort of like Troll’s view of taxation – and they must be seized by force if necessary. Anyone who has income from stocks or letting out real estate, etc. thus by definition cannot be a marxist. Exeunt the Clintons etc.). Ultimately all assets in a state would be held by the workers, including all natural resources, banks, etc. which would be nationalised. (exeunt here China and most nominally communist societies). Workers would realise that their interests are universally identical and borders would disappear. Viva la Internationale.

Communism is the political expression of this. All political power is esentially in the hands of workers’ councils, and held in trust for them by the party.

Like Christianity, they may sound quite nice in theory. Human nature is, however, such that they never can work in practice, and compromise and hypocrisy turned up from the word Go.

    Daphne,

    >>He does not distort what others say.<<

LOL, he does it all the time and he did in that case. Read the thread and see for yourself.

    >>She was beyond rude and way past the bounds of decent conservation.<<

    I totally agree.

    >>I’m more than concerned that you would find her vile spewage to be a legitimate form<<

You may BTW notice that my first comment here is full of admiration for Troll’s vlog. I merely mentioned that I think it silly to use this platform to snipe at a figure like Cait! And also that he lied just to make her sound worse than she really is, which he definitely did.
But I realise he was badly stung by her outbursts and had to hit back, which is understandable.
    On to other topics.

  13. Noel

I may dramatize things to make my point but I NEVER LIE. This is what Cait said:

"trole, I suggest you read up a little on the subject.

Re the literacy. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such bad literacy on the internet, ever. Did you home school your children? That is amazing!! Did you teach them how to read and write, basic literacy? Laugh it off all you like, use it to poke fun at others if you like, but it’s my opinion people can see what the situation is for themselves. It’s bloody disgraceful, good to laugh at, which makes you the more pitiful for it.

    Thursday, April 10, 2008 at 06:03PM | Cait"

Now you may not see it this way, but what I see in that post is a crossing of the line by dragging my children into the conversation. The ONLY reason she mentions my kids and homeschooling them in a thread where she is insisting I am illiterate is to infer that because in her eyes I am stupid that I am making my children stupid.

Tell me Noel if that wasn’t what she was implying explain to me why she brought up my children and homeschooling. Come on educate me, teach me why my interpritation of that is wrong.

  14. Troll

    >>Now you may not see it this way, but what I see in that post is a crossing of the line by dragging my children into the conversation.<<

I agree totally; she was wrong and stupid to do so.

    >>The ONLY reason she mentions my kids and homeschooling them in a thread where she is insisting I am illiterate is to infer that because in her eyes I am stupid that I am making my children stupid.<<

You’re right, she did infer that. Actually, some of the other things she said were worse IMO, and for those alone she deserved to be kicked out of here. She still didn’t attack your children, tho. She knows and said nothing about them. She mentioned them only to rub in her insult.

I don’t know if you noticed but lately she has been wide in her choice of victims for her hysteria, and has been giving David especially a rough time. It’s all too stupid to care about, but it appears she assumed she had some kind of special status with David and is peeved that, in her opinion, he defaulted. She also probably thinks she is better able to write posts for ATW than you and is annoyed to see yours up there. It’s all got little to do with you and a lot to do with David. If I were you I’d follow David’s line and ignore it and her.

  15. Noel

That’s sad, There are people here who’s opinions I am totaly opposed to yet I would never begrudge them the use of the forum.

I know I can be cantakerous and I do throw shots at people, but I never hound them relentlessly.

It’s OK to trade an occaisional shot here and there but if you just badger someone about things that aren’t even part of the topic that’s an abuse.

  16. Great vlog Troll.

I disagreed with most of it of course, especially the anti-environmental tirade, but you know how to make your case. As to Cait, you are 100% right to reply as you did.

That Dakota oil will turn out to be mostly non-existent, but even if it’s there and gets exploited, in your free-market world it will be sold to the highest bidder, which may turn out to be the Chinese.

    What animals do you hunt?

  17. Troll… interesting vblog. Good to watch.

Steak with mushrooms though… nah, pepper sause all the way.

  18. troll, i just did a quick searh and it looks like it was 4.3 billion barrels in north dakota, not 423 billion.

    its also shale oil.

  19. I didn’t get all the way through it yet. My weekend viewing was repeatedly interrupted by two demanding babies who insisted upon bottles (apparently one can not say "Last Call" to infants, their need for formula is unending). I’ll listen to the whole thing before week’s end.

One initial question – that doesn’t sound like a Philly accent. Are the Troll origins elsewhere?

  20. Tripper,

Please see this: Massive Oil Deposit.

    From the article:

..super massive 200 billion barrel Oil Field..

With new horizontal drilling technology it is believed that from 175 to 500 billion barrels of recoverable oil..

The drilling technique was not worth the money it would cost back when a barrel of oil was 10 dollars. It’s most definitely worth it now, and Marathon oil is beginning to invest heavily in ND. The cost of extracting the oil is estimated to be 20 to 40 dollars p/barrel. The environmentalists are already filing lawsuits though.

  21. Well im no expert, but i think ill take the primary source as the main point of reference and not the dodgy out of date astro-turf site.

3 to 4.3 Billion Barrels of Technically Recoverable Oil Assessed in North Dakota and Montana’s Bakken Formation—25 Times More Than 1995 Estimate—

    http://www.usgs.gov/newsroom/article.asp?ID=1911

  22. A friend of mine owns mineral rights in ND. He’s been offerred 100K + 25% of each barrel.

  23. Great vlog Troll. Don’t agree with it all but you are great at these.

The crap about your spelling is just that – utter crap. I like your style 🙂

Bringing your kids into this was unnecessary. Had similar issues along different lines with Cait a few months back and in the end decided it wasn’t worth sticking around. It was my sex life that got brought into the topic for some weird reason best known to her! And not in a fun way! 😉 There is rough and tumble in blogging and even the odd cuss but when it gets overly personal like that it isn’t worth it. It’s plain bullying and spoils the threads.

Daytripper – belated Happy Birthday (i think i’m right if memory serves)

  24. Well I go away for a few days and look what’s happened. I miss all the fun. I haven’t listened to Trolls Vlog yet but whatever it’s about seems to have been overshadowed by his great bust up with Cait. This wouldn’t have happened if I had been here, I would have calmed everyone down 🙂

Anyway I will listen to Trolls vlog and comment on this shortly.

  25. After our two Londoners had been away for some time, the two suddenly stroll in here together as innocent as you like – VERY suspicious!

  26. So that’s why you’re both flushed in the face, all out of breath and with aching limbs – oh yeah!!

  27. Right back to Troll’s Vlog.

It’s a great piece of rhetoric, very entertaining, but I just have to say Troll , it’s not a recital of facts, it’s all opinions. There is nothing to refute, it’s just a matter of agreeing or not with the opinions. Govt. control is not communism. We all , yes even you Troll want govt. control but it all depends on what extent. Communism is different a much deeper manifestation of social/economic organisation than just a ‘lefty’ govt. The existence God may be a fact or may not – none of us can know in this life and if God does exist none of us have the power to know what he wants for us to do with this earth. We all have opinions, but when we call them facts , all I can say is ‘whose facts’ ?

Ps – The Vlog would have been hugely improved if the lovely missus had popped her head into view as well as her mellifluous voice 😉

  28. Alison,

Hope you find the environment more pleasant and hope you may comment more.

  29. Well If Caits departure has made ATW a happier place for Daphne and Alison that will surely be a case of thrilling 2 birds with one (cast out) stone !

  30. Daytripper – belated Happy Birthday (i think i’m right if memory serves)

wow, alison. great memory. my birthday was yesterday.

i have difficulty remebering the birthdays of those i know best, whats your secret?
