I thought it might be interesting for you to see two sides to London.

Yesterday saw a public demonstration in favour of Hamas.

Today saw a public demonstrations in favour of Israel.

I am sure you can work out which is which.

  1. Yes indeed. No-one needed Mystic Meg to predict that the savages would do what savages do yesterday and today’s pro-Israel demonstration would be peaceful.

The nutters didn’t even have the grace to pack up last night and leave London to a contra-demonstration today. No, they had to gather in Trafalgar Square also. Clearly it was only the greatly superior numbers of pro-Israeli crowd that ensured the peace.

With the numbers reversed, I wouldn’t bet someone else’s money that there wouldn’t be violence, injuries and maybe worse.

  2. I am glad that the Pro-Israel crowd came out in force today just as I am glad that those who feel that the Israelis were wrong came out in force on Saturday.

  3. Aileen

Yes I know but I am just referring to the numbers of people who excercised their democratic right to peacefully demonstrate their views as the Pro -Israeli crowd did and the vast majority of those who oppose the Israeli military action did.

  4. ‘Yesterday saw a public demonstration in favour of Hamas.

Today saw a public demonstrations in favour of Israel.’

Ahh David its all in the detail eh?

people cannot support the palestinians, no they MUST be supporting Hamas.

Whereas people can support Israel. If you were inclined to a little less disingenuity
    you may have written

‘Yesterday saw a public demonstration in favour of Hamas.

Today saw a public demonstrations in favour of the IDF.’

    But no.

  5. It goes to show that when they put their minds to it Israelis can get their point across without killing anyone. Let’s hope they keep it up.

ROFL! I’ll never forget you, Jimmy Sands.
    You’re in good form tonight.

BTW, Jimmy. To sort out my confused mind, what was your handle in former manifestations on this site?

  7. How many thousands were there?

Oh and I stumbled across this just now…

"We the undersigned are all of Jewish origin. When we see the dead
and bloodied bodies of young children, the cutting off of water,
electricity and food, we are reminded of the siege of the Warsaw
Ghetto. When Dov Weisglass, an adviser to the Israeli prime minister,
Ehud Olmert, talked of putting Gazans "on a diet" and the deputy
defence minister, Matan Vilnai, talked about the Palestinians
experiencing "a bigger shoah" (holocaust), this reminds us of
Governor General Hans Frank in Nazi-occupied Poland, who spoke
    of "death by hunger".
"The real reason for the attack on Gaza is that Israel is only
willing to deal with Palestinian quislings. The main crime of Hamas
is not terrorism but its refusal to accept becoming a pawn in the
hands of the Israeli occupation regime in Palestine.
"The decision last month by the EU council to upgrade relations with
Israel, without any specific conditions on human rights, has
encouraged further Israeli aggression. The time for appeasing Israel
is long past. As a first step, Britain must withdraw the British
ambassador to Israel and, as with apartheid South Africa, embark on a
programme of boycott, divestment and sanctions."

    That’s a lot of anti-semites isn’t it??

  8. Noel,

I’ve only been here a day or two. David was on Slugger and recommended this site. It’s been an eye-opener.

  9. "David was on Slugger and recommended this site"

Wow that’s a shock. Why on earth would he do that 😉

Not trying to be contentious but the pro-Israel rally today doesn’t seem to appear on any of the news websites. Someone here said people were "out in force" could they elaborate on it?

I’m still reeling about the coverage on ATW of the pro-Palestine march. It seems that a tiny majority let the rest of us down but nobody can deny the weight of support amongst Londoners for yesterday and NOT for todays demo. Yesterday there were between 50 and 100 thousand people.

  11. "You should be afraid – you have moved beyond kindergarten."

Most of us do eventually. There’s no need to be afraid.

  12. Colm, his style sounded familiar … (also there was this awful suspicion in my mind that, well, you know, Northern Ireland is not the issue it used to be, there are now other fronts, other battles,,, and the term "I’ll never forget you, Jimmy Sands" used to be a favourite of Madradin Ruad. MR also vaguely used to support the rights of the Palestinians. I just thought….

Also there have been so many disappearances and reappearances lately. RS, Tony, Seamus, Jimmy, a lot of whom have a Northern voice behind them.

Jimmy, I hope you stay. We need people like you here.

  13. Talking to yourself Jimmy?

Yip – the BBC and others know how to cut the news. We’ve covered it over on Biased BBC.

  14. >>Someone here said people were "out in force"<<

Alison and people like Richard were present, so it was more like "out in farce".

  15. It’s funny how you see the news as anti-Israeli yet when I saw it’s coverage of yesterdays MASS demonstration and when I see it undercooks Israel’s aggression and the deaths of innocents, I see it the other way round.

  16. Self-hatred is a powerful force within man’s psyche. Examples of self-hate are the savage anti-Britishness of the BBC, Ken Livingstone, George Galloway et al. And of course, there are Jewish self-haters, as the signatories in the letter to The Guardian shows.
