There is a really good article in the Atlantic that is worth your time to read.
What ISIS Really Wants
Our ignorance of the Islamic State is in some ways understandable: It is a hermit kingdom; few have gone there and returned. Baghdadi has spoken on camera only once. But his address, and the Islamic State’s countless other propaganda videos and encyclicals, are online, and the caliphate’s supporters have toiled mightily to make their project knowable. We can gather that their state rejects peace as a matter of principle; that it hungers for genocide; that its religious views make it constitutionally incapable of certain types of change, even if that change might ensure its survival; and that it considers itself a harbinger of—and headline player in—the imminent end of the world.

IS isn’t a “state”; it’s a movement of the disaffected and fanatical. It’s driven by exhibitionism and the need to be taken seriously and feared, and anyone that reproduces its propaganda – for whatever reasons – is doing it a favour.
The good news is that IS has united the widest range of people against it: Egyptians bombed its affiliates yesterday, Jordan the day before; it’s opposed by Syria, by the West, by the Turks and by Iran.
That’s a large silver lining to that Islamic cloud.
Noel it holds Territory larger than Great Britain, it has a government, an army, courts, laws, and it’s own Flag.
If that’s not a state what is?
I am with Noel on this. Just a bunch of ‘nasties’ who have managed to unite just about the whole world against them.
Troll, yes they have a flag and all that. But so do a lot of other fly ridden $#!THOLES.
I hear that an enterprising US marine out there has begun manufacturing land mines disguised as prayer mats.
When asked how business was, he replied “prophets are going thru the the roof”.
They are a state.
A state that must be smashed.
ok so both of you pointing to them not being a state is supposed to mean what?
of course they’re a State.
You’re right, it isn’t important whether they fulfill the definition of a state or not.
But what about
“the Islamic State’s countless other propaganda videos and encyclicals, are online, and the caliphate’s supporters have toiled mightily to make their project knowable”
Do you not realise you are assisting them by reproducing their propaganda here?
That’s exactly what they want; that’s why they produce that shit.
Pete will really hate them once he realizes that they are a ” state ”
Since only governments do bad things.
right Noel and people like you condemn the fact that people knew of the Nazi atrocities and said nothing.
What your saying is nonsensical. Oh don’t talk about them you’re promoting them…
If you read the attached article which of course you won’t because it’s not written in crayon like Allans articles you’d see if anything it’s a well balanced warning.
That’s alright ignore that head in the street… nothing to see here.
To me ISIS is an opportunity sent from heaven. Let all the looney Tunes go there, then bomb them to buggery. It’s what, Mo would have wanted.
I of course have no link to that last statement, neither do I have any contact with said Prophet. I of course made the whole thing up. 😉
It’s not really important, but they are a de facto state.
remember “Islam in a man is like Rabies in a dog”
“It’s not really important, but they are a de facto state.”
You’re right, it isn’t important. They need to be wiped off the face of the earth. The irony, however, is that our “leaders” went after the largely ineffectual Saddam with vigor but are reluctant to go after these islamic scum.
The Arabs and Turks and Sunnis generally need to be a really big part of the effort to wipe them out.
Otherwise, this gets spun by Isis spin doctors as a crusade against Islam.
“The Arabs and Turks and Sunnis generally need to be a really big part of the effort to wipe them out.”
Agreed. But will they put their death cult before expediency.
The Crusades WERE a response to Islamic aggression…. why is that always forgotten?
Except governments hostile to the West, they’re innocent victims of witches and neocons.
in the Neocon(Pete)’s eyes your right Ross.
Oh, the dreaded neocons.
The great perfessor Mick Jagger sang a song about them.
If ISIS try to hold territory like a conventional state they will be very easy to beat, there is a reason terrorist and guerrilla forces don’t usually waste their time defending territory, they need people not land.
ISIS are very media savvy and very evil but at the end of the day, a bit of serious bombing and their state will crumble.
The Sunni of Iraq and Syria need to have a vested interest in the state, whatever the state winds up being.
The Shia should have most of the power, but they can’t have all the power, or absolute rule. They can’t continue to do what the Sunnis used to do to them.
The governments of both Iraq and Syria aren’t just sectarian but also feeble, they can alienate the Sunnis while being too weak to actually keep them in check.
God the Stones were stupid to do that song.
Right up there with ” Emotional Rescue “ as the worst song ever.
Ross IZZY doesn’t look at itself as terrorists. They look at themselves as Holy Warriors building the Caliphate.
They also want to be hit so the world is bathed in blood and their Prophet can rise from the well. You need to read more about who these people are.
Seriously read the article that this post is based on. The link is in the post
what song is that?
” Sweet Neo Con ” by the Stones
A poison dart at Condeleeza Rice I believe.
It wasn’t exactly a hit
Troll- I’ve read the article and it is extremely good, particularly about the ideological difference between them and Al Queda and the death cult aspect of their ideology.
This is an interesting report on ISIS by the DM, interesting for what can be derived from it rather than what it actually states:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2958220/UN-urged-investigate-ISIS-s-bloody-trade-human-organs-Iraqi-ambassador-reveals-doctors-executed-not-harvesting-body-parts.html
ISIS Inc. is a business which is unrestrained by government regulations – but who are the owners?
Foreign doctors? Which country would provide ‘doctors’ to remove the organs of people for a profit?
Afghanistan’s heroin exports are controlled by forces attached to NATO Inc. This is a tie-in with a similar enterprise (ISIS Inc.)
thank you Ross, it is definitely worth the read.
Allan.
Stop with all the facts .. it only confuses the poor little darlings.
Bless em.
And we have seen the aftermath when their little parrallel universes are rocked out of that comfort zone, it’s all knickers in a twist time.
Lets see how long this latest ‘Love in’ lasts 😉
With Troll, about five minutes is my guess.
What with all this ‘Thankyou’ for this and ‘thankyou’ for that.. I can almost hear the slurping from here 😉
Creepy stuff.
