  1. That was a fine closing ceremony. It was just a shame the buffoon Alex Salmond couldn’t show half the dignity of Davis Love III and Jose Maria Olazabal.

  2. Great win for McIlroy today too. He showed up just before the tee-off, had to be driven to the venue in a police car, apparently he had been watching TV and had got the time zones wrong.
    That should settle the question of whether he’s really Irish.

  3. Whilst I was in the bank today, the flat screen TV was showing the festivities of the Ryder Cup win. All happy Europeans and the EU flag is to the fore. Two news items later, the BBC reports that unemployment in the EU has reached record levels.

    One may conclude that record levels of unemployment are less important than the Ryder Cup win for ‘Europe’ OR that the Ryder Cup win is a good diversion from the disaster of the unemployment rates. However, the OR could be an AND.

  4. Here in NY, we’ve built at least seven stadiums in about the last ten decades. This isn’t that unusual.
